  1. The Omnimovement training course in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 has a cruel twist, as it's led by Frank Woods, who was left handicapped after the events of ****** Ops 2. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 players pointed out this peculiar detail shortly after entering the early access beta, which began on August 30. View the full article
  2. Of the various companions available in Baldur's Gate 3, there are some clear favorites. Astarion, the hot and misunderstood vampire, is often a fan-favorite, while Shadowheart is one of the most frequently romanced female companions (understood given her clear entanglement in the main storyline). But in most rankings of companions, Wyll often scores close to the bottom. View the full article
  3. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 is a throwback to the Gulf War era of warfare in the early 90s, so there are both new and old weapons from the franchise available. The Ames 85 is one of these guns. It’s an ******** rifle described having “impressive accuracy and a suitable rate of *****,” making it “an excellent ******* for mid to long range engagements.” View the full article
  4. Every year, a Call of Duty beta releases to give players a taste of what’s new and fresh in the franchise. And every year, it ends, and players must return to the previous game. It might feel unfortunate to get a peek at a game like ****** Ops 6’s new approach to movement and then return to a game like Modern Warfare 3, which is still fun but “old news” by then—but such is life. 6. If you've booted up the mobile versions of Resident Evil 4, 7, or Village recently, and found you couldn't play without an internet connection, you're not the only one. It's pretty common for a lot of mobile titles to require an internet connection, particularly gacha games that'll be running checks to make sure you're not cheating, but it's rare for single-player games to need them. Except as spotted by some fans online, a recent update for Resident Evil 4, 7, and Village on iOS respectively all made it so that you need an internet connection when booting the game up. "Due to changes to the startup process, an internet connection is now required when starting this app," reads the update note for each game. This is obviously a thoroughly odd choice, with users on Reddit suggesting that it might be because of data collection or DRM checks, though that is only speculation, and would be an odd thing to do on the latter point given just how many single-player games don't require you to be connected to the internet. A number of other users on Reddit also expressed the ******* to request refunds in light of the change, though considering how many people reportedly bought these games, that probably won't be that many people anyway. 8. Sometimes you just can’t predict whether a game will be the next big thing, so it’s not worth kicking yourself if you get that call wrong. Or at least that seems to be the philosophy of Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who says that he doesn’t regret not making the original Destiny and Guitar Hero platform exclusives, even if those calls look a bit questionable in hindsight. Speaking as part of an interview at PAX West called Story Time with Phil Spencer - seems like that name should maybe have been saved in case Xbox ever made its own children’s TV show, but I digress - the exec discussed some of the ones that got away because he didn’t quite get them right away. “There are so many mixed emotions and stories for me around Destiny,” Spencer said, going on to talk about his interactions with the studio and its staff while it was still part of Microsoft, before moving on to discussing receiving the pitch for the original Destiny, I'd assume as part of the two parties' ongoing relations after Bungie span out to become independent. “‘Do we want to sign this?’ We ended up not signing Destiny. It obviously went with Activision, and to seeing what it grew into, like from a business kind of Xbox standpoint, I can look at it [as] it's just a really interesting journey in terms of what [Bungie] built.” Read more View the full article
  9. Rocksteady is the latest studio to be hit with layoffs, according to a new report. Sources have told Eurogamer that numerous employees have been made redundant over the past month, with its QA department more than halved (from 33 staff to 15) as well as non-QA job losses too. According to the source, the job losses are directly linked to the release of ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League, with its poor sales specifically mentioned as a reason for what it describes as “restructuring”. 10. What are the best Star Wars Outlaws settings for PC? I was left in awe of the performance of Star Wars Outlaws and would be praising it as one of the most well-optimized PC titles of the year if not for some infrequent, random, and unexplained crashes. You won't need the best graphics card to explore the galaxy in Star Wars Outlaws, but the more power your gaming PC has, the prettier the game will look. The crashes I experienced could be attributed to the pre-release build of the game, but they're something to keep an eye out for regardless. Read the rest of the story... 11. ****** Myth: Wukong has numerous Spirits that can give the advantage in combat, but which is the best to max out first? This action RPG has many systems that play into its combat, and while Spirits may not be the most important, they can still sway damage. 12. Lawmakers in the ********* Union may soon have to discuss the issue of video games, both on console and PC, being rendered unplayable if a recent petition continues to pick up steam. Given how much of the industry has turned to digital distribution as a means of selling games to consumers, the concerns about license terminations and ending support for purchased video games are becoming a great concern for many. Players who purchase most modern titles aren't buying the game, they're merely acquiring a license to play it, meaning they have little control over the product. View the full article

  14. It seems that there just still isn't an end in sight for layoffs, as ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League developer Rocksteady has reportedly been hit by them. According to a report from Eurogamer, Rocksteady's QA department has been essentially cut in half over the past month, going from 33 team members down to 15. This was caused by, you won't be surprised to hear, ******** Squad's poor sales, which Eurogamer says was directly cited as a reason for the studio's "restructuring." QA isn't the only department to have suffered from layoffs either, though it doesn't appear to be clear which teams have been affected just yet. Apparently one staff member shared publicly on social media over the weekend that they were being made redundant, having learnt this new while in the middle of parental leave. Rocksteady staff that spoke with Eurogamer, who asked to stay anonymous, said that due to losing so many staff members in QA, which included some team members with specialised knowledge, has left remaining staff with more work. Some staff members that have been affected by the cuts have apparently worked at Rocksteady for more than five years. Staff have also said that senior management have acknowledged that product quality will suffer following the layoffs. An official announcement hasn't been made by Rocksteady as of yet. Whether Baldur's Gate 3 was your entry point into tactical RPGs, or you're a long-time veteran of games like Divinity Original Sin, Wasteland 3, and Mutant Year Zero, New Arc Line is a game you'll want to keep a close eye on. 18. Rocksteady Studios has reportedly ***** off several staff members as a result of the disastrous release of ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League. Anonymous employees told Eurogamer that the Rocksteady quality assurance team had been cut from 33 members to 15 with poor sales of ******** Squad (which cost owner Warner Bros. Discovery a $200 million hit to revenue) cited directly. Rocksteady management has allegedly acknowledgedthat product quality will take a hit as a result of the lay offs, as remaining QA testers struggle to uphold the same standard as the team once double in size. The 18 staff members affected reportedly included junior employees and veteran team members who were at the studio more than five years. IGN has asked Warner Bros. Discovery for comment. ******** Squad launched in January 2024 as a live service game featuring the likes of Harley Quinn and Deadshot, and issues emerged almost immediately as players who paid extra to play the game sooner were kicked out after an hour as Rocksteady dealt with a bug. This was the first of several frustrations for fans and ******** Squad ******* to sell well, being dubbed a disappointment by Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav. Its critical reception was just as poor, as in our 5/10 review, IGN said: "******** Squad: ***** the Justice League is a repetitive and bland looter-shooter that, despite an engaging story, never stays fun for long enough." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  22. Responding to a Deadlock fan question on the game's Discord, one developer confirms that the Matchmaking Rating is set for a planned rewrite as the feature currently doesn't work as expected. 24. Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system has passed Windows 10 usage for Steam users for the first time since its launch in 2021. Windows 10 has been holding strong in recent years, despite Microsoft’s plans to end support for Windows 10 in October 2025. There are now signs that Windows 11 adoption is finally heading in the right direction for Microsoft. Steam hardware survey data for August puts Windows 11 usage at 49 percent, an increase of more than 3 percent over the previous figure in July of nearly 46 percent. Windows 10 usage has dipped by around 3 percent to 47 percent, while macOS and Linux Steam usage has largely remained the same during August.
