  1. After years of Minecraft players having to vote for the next addition to the game, Mojang Studios is finally retiring the mob vote. Yes, you heard that right. The mob vote is no more. In a blog post titled “The future of Minecraft’s development” on Sept. 9, the developer shared plans for Minecraft, starting with getting rid of the mob vote and changing the format for Minecraft Live. Minecraft Live is now a more “focused broadcast” and will happen twice a year. “Each show will be packed with everything you need to know about the latest features we’re working on, what’s coming into testing, and the newest news from across the Minecraft franchise.” View the full article
  2. Warning: Major Spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3 Dark Urge playthroughs lie ahead. While Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 7 was beefier than Karlach if she took up olympic weightlifting, packing in a massive amount of additions, tweaks, and fixes, it seems there a still a few things players were hoping for which slipped through the cracks. The main one still bothering folk is how companions react to certain Dark Urge scenes, with some BG3ers now urging Larian to revamp this before it moves on from the game. If you somehow missed Baldur's Gate 3's latest update arriving last week, you can check out what it includes here. Needless to say it's generally gone down well, especially those official modding tools, which modders are already doing plenty of interesting stuff with. Read more View the full article

  5. League of Legends fans were left disappointed today after Riot Games confirmed its new physical trading card game, Rune Battlegrounds, will not be getting a global release anytime soon. The League community was sent into a frenzy on Sept. 10 when the X (formerly Twitter) account League of Legends Leaks & News shared a teaser from Riot’s ******** team. 6. Space Marine 2 launched proper yesterday, September 9 after four days of early access, and soon shot to record-breaking success for a Warhammer 40,000 game. Saber Interactive’s action game sees Titus of the Ultramarines go up against the Tyranid horde as well as Chaos Marines in a sequel that arrives 13 years after its predecessor. It includes a campaign that can be played co-op, co-op focused Operations, and a PvP mode. Space Marine 2 saw a huge 24-hour peak concurrent player count of 225,690 on Steam, the highest peak ever seen for a Warhammer 40,000 game on Valve’s platform, alongside a ‘very positive’ user review rating. Indeed, Space Marine 2 is now the most-played Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer game ever on Steam. To put the launch into context, Space Marine 2 knocked Total War: Warhammer 3’s 166,754 peak concurrents into second place. Of course, Space Marine 2’s true concurrent peak will be even higher, given the game launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S also. The expectation is Space Marine 2 will enjoy even ******* concurrents as it heads into its first weekend following the global release. This week, Saber and publisher Focus Interactive detailed Space Marine 2’s first update, which will hopefully fix server problems and crashes, among other things. IGN has reported on the upcoming addition of class matching for co-op, after players found themselves locked in a class standoff ahead of Operations mode missions. Meanwhile, we also have details on what fans can expect from Space Marine 2’s seasonal post-launch content model. Season 2 runs from October until the end of 2024, and includes a new Operations map, a new ******, a ******* difficulty level, a new *******, and various other improvements. IGN's Space Marine 2 review returned an 8/10. We said: "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 may not break the third-person shooter mold, but it looks amazing, makes good use of its Warhammer lore, and has brutal combat that just feels great." Most people will know the actor as the incredibly foreboding voice of Star Wars most iconic villain Darth Vader, as well as the voice of Mufasa in both the original Lion King as well as its 2019 remake, but he had an incredibly broad career outside of these roles - he was also much beloved for his roles in films like Field of Dreams, Conan the Barbarian, and Coming to America. According to Shroud himself, there’s a good reason why—Deadlock has “twisted” his brain, and there’s seemingly no end in sight. After a six-hour session in Spectre Divide that ended with a “sour” loss during a Sept. 6 stream, a visibly frustrated Shroud switched over to Deadlock to decompress—but before jumping into the game he let loose about how Deadlock has taken over everything from his stream to his casual gaming sessions. “I feel like this game changed the way I perceive myself and my peers. 24. Finally, I'm starting to see some decent chops on the title which begs the question: Can a DLC be given a GOTY Award? I think I'll let the more vocal corners of the Internet hash that one out. For now, let me just shower you with the hottest video game and peripherals bargains available today. Honestly, it's what I love to do best, all week long. In retro news, I'm relishing the one day of the year when I'm allowed to gush about Burnout 3: Takedown, the now 20-year-old king of arcade racers. For me, this was all about the Road Rage events, which veered this hemmed-in street racer into becoming a vehicular fighting game where driving crazy earned you the NOS needed to go even faster. Instead of punches, you'd shunt your foes at the optimal angle required to crumble them outright, like a Coke can, or just ping them off an overpass / through a bus in glorious slow-mo.
