  2. Phasmophobia is one of those unproblematic success stories. It launched in early access with such a well-conceived and executed core experience that I breathlessly proclaimed it "the best ghost game ever made." In the five years since, developer Kinetic Games has slowly but surely built Phasmophobia into the PC's definitive spook-buster (to the extent there's now a small niche in Phasmo-alikes)... 3. Call of Duty games are always filled to the brim with challenges to unlock cosmetic items like calling cards of camos, and ****** Ops 7 continues that trend. While camo challenges for Zombies, multiplayer, and Endgame are fully apparent, some are shrouded in secrecy. In CoD, these challenges are called Dark Ops, and they require some skill and quite a bit of luck to figure out how to get them done. 4. The World of Warcraft leveling experience is pretty quick nowadays, with plenty of methods out there getting you up to the prized 80 cap lickety-split. Once you've run through it a few times on different alts, though, it becomes a labor of love more than anything. Legion Remix, similarly to Old School Runescape's Leagues, turbocharges your XP gains, albeit on a temporary character that exists solely on separate servers. Earlier this year, we were treated to two events, Turbulent Timeways and Winds of Mysterious Fortune, that provided sizable XP boosts alongside other timed QoL goodies. On Blizzard's original roadmap for WoW 11.2.7, a return for both was on the cards. In its latest iteration, however, Winds has been swept away. Read the rest of the story... 5. Gauntlet’s success is rooted in how different it feels compared to past Battlefield modes. It is smaller in scale, but the pressure of advancing through multiple rounds as the number of squads decrease creates a sense of endurance that many players are responding to. The mode also offers a different experience each match through a wide variety of missions that are randomly seleted each round and push squads into different styles of play, from tight objective control to aggressive elimination-focused strategies. This variety has helped Gauntlet stand out at launch, and the game’s developers tell me that variety is intentional. View the full article

  13. Paradox Interactive suffers another setback as it announces it is parting ways with Cities Skylines 2 developer Colossal Order. The developer has been working on the series for 15 years, beginning with 2011's Cities in Motion. This comes in the wake of poor reviews for both Surviving Mars: Relaunched and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which have 41% and 56% positive feedback on Steam respectively. Europa Universalis 5 was much better received, but the publisher will now have to reassess how it approaches Cities DLC with a new studio at the helm. Read the rest of the story... 15. You shouldn't personify or feel pity for games—developers? Certainly, they're people. But the game itself is not alive, and it doesn't have feelings, and any sentimentality or nostalgia you feel for it is a mere trick of the light. 17. After set video leaks popped up online over the weekend, we now have our first official look at both Link and Zelda in The Legend of Zelda movie. The photos were released on the Nintendo Today app this morning, and they show Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in full garb. And honestly, they both look pretty incredible. Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid The photos were shown in a short video on the app, confirming again the May 7, 2027 release date for the long-anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved Nintendo franchise. Hopefully, we can get the full HD version of the photos online soon. Interestingly, the pictures show Zelda in a costume similar to her appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and not some more classic designs like from earlier games in the series. Link's, meanwhile, appears to feature more of a design similar to his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. As of now, plot details of the movie are under wraps, but there is plenty of source material for the film to pull from. The film comes as a partnership between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, and will be directed by Wes Ball, best known for the Maze Runner film trilogy. The movie is now in full production and being shot in New Zealand, and production is likely to last through the spring before heading into post-production and editing. What are you hoping to see from The Legend of Zelda movie? I'm not the biggest Zelda fan myself, but maybe the movie could convert me (and likely some others). I think both of these young, unknown actors look great in the roles so far, but let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. I'm not going to spoil anything, I just really think you should play it. It was by far and away the best horror game I played last year, and one of the most memorable scary experiences I've had in much longer. Few characters in gaming have elicited as much feet kicking over the years as the former RPD man, and the handsome himbo has only gotten finer with the recent string of remakes.
