  1. Award show nominations will always cause a stir as personal favorites are excluded from the top honors, but The Game Awards has egregiously snubbed Blue Prince in the coveted Game of the Year category. I don't necessarily disagree with TGA's 2025 nominees; the six selected titles are, by all accounts, exceptional, but I feel that Blue Prince's cultural moment deserves official recognition, and being snubbed for a GOTY nomination shows that the game's true genius is being overlooked. 2. Fans were disappointed to learn that the highly anticipated Minecraft-like sandbox-RPG, Hytale, was canceled earlier this year by Riot Games. The studio acquired the team behind Hytale, Hypixel Studios, a group of developers behind the popular "Hypixel" Minecraft server, but the game fell apart and was eventually canceled entirely. 5. Somehow, the end of the year has returned, and it's time once again for a parade of award nominations and shows, including this year's The Game Awards. Ahead of its early December show, The Game Awards has released a list of this year's nominees, revealing that everyone really, really, really liked Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Expedition 33 has gathered up a whopping 12 nominations, the most ever collected by a single game in The Game Awards' history. In addition to Game of the Year, it's also up for Best Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Audio, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Independent Game, Best RPG, and three of its actors are nominated for Best Performance. A number of other games also have earned quite a few nominations, such as Death Stranding 2 (seven nominations) Hades II (six), Hollow Knight: Silksong (five), and Ghost of Yōtei (seven). The Game Awards ceremony will be broadcast digitally on December 11, 2025 at 5pm PT/8pm ET, when we'll find out all the winners as well as see the usual parade of video game trailers, commercials, musical guests, possibly Muppets, and more. 6. Battlefield 6 is roaring ahead, with update 1.1.2.0 patch notes revealing that open beta aim assist settings are back, as are more weapon dispersion and bloom tweaks, as EA and Battlefield Studios roll out the next new Season 1 map: Eastwood. The latest Battlefield 6 and REDSEC patch notes, which cover every change in tomorrow’s update, were listed in a new post on the project’s website. It comes with a breakdown for all of the new weapons and features included with the long-promised mid-season update, as well as a shortlist of other major changes, including additional clarity for challenges, a “major polish pass” for gadgets, improved latency and stick response for controllers, a healthy dose of bug fixes, and much, much more. Aim assist is no doubt the headline for this week’s update and arrives as further proof that BF Studios plans to continue delivering on its post-launch promises. Those who tuned in for the Battlefield 6 beta tests in August will notice base aim assist settings will fall more in line with that build of the game. It’s a U-turn from the launch version of the option, with the team explaining its original goal was to “make aim assist feel more effective beyond mid-range fights which was one of our focuses within Battlefield Labs and Open Beta.” Now, BF Studios admits those changes resulted in high-zoom aiming that was more difficult to control. Players can expect Battlefield 6 aim assist following update 1.1.2.0 to feel more consistent, steadier, and smoother. “After reviewing player feedback and gameplay data, we’re reverting aim assist back to the values some of you experienced during Open Beta and Battlefield Labs,” BF Studios says. “This will now serve as the default, whilst still providing you with the ability to alter the aim assist to your preference and playstyle via settings.” Battlefield 6 fans should be happy to see more weapon dispersion and bloom tweaked further after update 1.1.1.5 changes resulted in positive feedback. While the previous patch tackled dispersion related to gunfire when aiming down sights after sprinting, tomorrow’s Season 1 update delivers a slight reduction to dispersion across the board. While each change suggests BF Studios is getting closer to reaching the smooth FPS experience they desire, Portal players can also look forward to more Portal tools in update 1.1.2.0, including the golf cart and a sandbox map option. With the one-month-post-launch-mark in the rearview mirror, EA and BF Studios are moving steadily ahead with a level of communication that has kept its player base coming back for more Battlefield 6. Tomorrow’s update will make good on the promises made in a community outline published by the developers last week, but it’s clear there’s more work to do, too. More weapon bloom tweaks, for example, are likely to arrive in the future as the team monitors feedback, with lighting adjustments, another promise from last week’s outline, absent from the 1.1.2.0 patch notes. These are upcoming changes in active development for Battlefield 6, but other hot topics, including map size, UI, player stats, hit registration/netcode, and more, are said to be under review for potential tweaks in the future. The three-phase Battlefield 6 Season 1 launched with its first chapter, Rogue Ops, as well as the Blackwell Fields map, October 28, 2025. November 18 ushers in California Resistance, which comes with the 1.1.2.0 update, Eastwood, Sabotage limited-time mode, Rodeo mission for Gauntlet, DB-12 shotgun, M357 sidearm, Battle Pickups feature, and more. The final, major Season 1 update, Winter Offensive, will follow December 9, adding in more gameplay changes, a limited-time Ice Lock version of Empire State, and the ice climbing axe melee weapon. Battlefield 6 update 1.1.2.0 launches November 18 at 1 a.m. PT / 4 a.m. ET. While we wait for more, you can read our interviews with BF Studios to learn more about a solo ****** option for battle royale and other upcoming REDSEC map updates. You can also read our 8/10 Battlefield 6 multiplayer review and our 7/10 REDSEC review. Finally, the full Battlefield 6 update 1.1.2.0 patch notes can be seen below. Battlefield 6 1.1.2.0 Update Patch Notes This update delivers a broad set of improvements to soldier responsiveness, aim consistency, animation fidelity, and overall stability across Battlefield 6. We’ve also introduced a new limited-time mode, refined Aim Assist behaviour, and resolved a large number of weapon, gadget, and vehicle issues based on community feedback. Our goal was to make aim assist feel more effective beyond mid-range fights which was one of our focuses within Battlefield Labs and Open Beta. At launch, we increased slowdown at longer ranges, but once the game went live, we saw that this made high-zoom aiming feel less smooth and harder to control. After reviewing player feedback and gameplay data, we’re reverting aim assist back to the values some of you experienced during Open Beta and Battlefield Labs. This will now serve as the default, whilst still providing you with the ability to alter the aim assist to your preference and playstyle via settings. This change keeps aim slowdown consistent across all ranges, helping with muscle memory and providing a steadier, more reliable feel as we move into future seasons. 9. Kaifeng is the second main area to reach in Where Winds Meet, but getting to the place can be quite confusing. For starters, you'll have to complete a fair amount of quests in Quinghe. However, you'll also have to focus on specific quests to gain access quickly. Unless you get the order correct, you'll be teleported back to Qinghe as soon as you try to cross. This guide will enlighten you about what needs to be done so that you can gain access and complete missions in Where Winds Meet. Table of contentsHow to access Kaifeng in Where Winds MeetHow to defeat Qianye in Where Winds MeetHow to access Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet Reaching Kaifeng requires you to complete the For Whom Does He Return segment. You can find it under Chapter One - Heaven Has No Pier. This quest will take a fair amount of time (will vary based on your in-game difficulty). Once you have managed to defeat the easier enemies, you'll have to defeat Qianye, the Witch Queen. Screenshot by Destructoid How to defeat Qianye in Where Winds Meet While I have been playing on the easiest difficulty, Qianye was a nightmare. You'll not only have to ace your defensive play, but you'll also have to heal yourself regularly. Qianye's main weapon is her massive scythe, which can do a massive amount of damage. The first phase of her fight is simple: just avoid the Scythe as much as possible. It's the second phase that is really difficult. Here are my general tips about what you should do to ace the Qianye fight. Get as many character upgrades as possible since higher stats will be advantageous.Upgrade your gear as much as possible.Stock healing items before starting the battle.Parrying will be key, so mastering the defensive maneuver is key.Melodies of Peace passive from Qi Sheng will get you bonus stats (and make the battle swing in your favor). Once you defeat Qianye, go to the dockmaster near Harvestfall. You'll be taken to Kaifeng, where you can continue your journey. Do note that you'll need to be level 32 or higher (aside from completing the Chapter One questline). The post How to reach Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet appeared first on Destructoid. 19. Call of Duty: ****** Ops is back, and how. Experimentation is the way to go, but the campaign takes some wild turns. The internet has relentlessly criticized moments like the Harper "Skibidi Toilet" boss, and reading the reactions is the most fun I've had with the campaign. If you still haven't, please feast your eyes on whatever this is: [Hidden Content] In the story's defense, the characters aren't really fighting a guy overdosing on Mario's shrooms. Still, Harper's battle is a bizarre moment that feels and plays in an egregiously goofy manner. As redditor TheBrainrotteDrone complained, "Why the f*ck did they make the ****** Ops 7 boss look like a Skibidi Toilet character? Are they stupid?" That's exactly how an 8-year-old would put it, likely because that's Skibidi Toilet's main demographic, but it's true. On top of all the immersion-breaking goofiness, the fight just isn't fun, so the Internet had to make it fun. Twitter user Suarez posted the image below, simply commenting, "Same vibe". Image via Lego And thus began an avalanche of visual comparisons that you just won't be able to unsee when facing Harper. Image via Croteam There were also more serious complaints, like Twitter's Neon Daybreak, who pointed out that "So the devs f*cking lied. '****** Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty' my ****. We got giant Harper and hallucinations." A really fair assessment, considering how the ****** Ops series should focus on the rawest and darkest aspects of warfare. In Activision's defense, ResetEra user SatMgMg said, "Reviewers and audience keeps pointing to games like Wolfenstein and Doom and kept saying "Why can't COD campaigns be like that" when COD has their own identity of a huge Hollywood set pieces and one time gimmick flavor that really isn't seen in any other FPSs at all. So they just put their hands up and made the campaigns a Warzone tutorial with like 2-3 setpieces within the whole game now."
