  1. The launch of the World of Warcraft The War Within patch has proven a little more troublesome than Blizzard likely expected. The update has just rolled out in the iconic MMORPG ahead of the next expansion's arrival, but it's already been marred by several problems. Following the decision to temporarily switch off the new Warband Warbanks, Blizzard now announces that it has disabled cross-realm trading in WoW. Read the rest of the story... 3. Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics shocked the world when it was unveiled during last month’s Nintendo Direct. Those who didn’t spend their childhoods in arcades watching Ryu and Cyclops shake hands may be wondering what the big deal is, but for many, this was an announcement over a decade in the making. After getting a chance to take three of the seven games included in the collection for a spin at Evo 2024 last weekend, we’re feeling confident that this is going to be a return to glory for Capcom’s vaunted Vs. franchise, and another feather in the cap of a genre in full renaissance mode. First, for those unaware, Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a bundle of seven games – six 2D fighters and one side-scrolling beat’-em-up – which were all a collaborative effort between Marvel and Capcom. 6. The Pokémon Company is releasing a special Pikachu card to celebrate the 2024 World Championships, which anyone can get, even if you don’t attend the in-person event. The card is only available in certain regions, though, or through specific methods, so not every country can get their hands on it. You also need to act fast if you want to get one, as scalpers are likely lining up to grab and resell the card, just like the cursed Van Gogh event in January 2024. View the full article
  7. World of Warcraft’s latest pre-patch just dropped in preparation for The War Within, and it’s totally tubular. Patch 11.0 introduces a buttload of bodacious features like Warbands and Skyriding, and one player discovered a “********” bug that lets you skate like Tony Hawk in Moonkin form. The WoW player shared their discovery in a July 25 Reddit thread. Skyriding is a gnarly feature that lets you use dynamic flight with most flying mounts in the game, but Redditor MarineQueefPrime discovered a ********’ interaction that happens when you land with a “surfing”-style mount, like a magic tome. 8. The First Descendant's recent updates to a popular farming strategy proves the game's staying power. The First Descendant recently put out its 1.0.4 update. It's a simple hotfix mainly focused on balance (though it also confirmed the identity of the next Descendant). However, the update also contained a much-dreaded change to what players call the "Valby Run." The Valby Run is a gold, XP, and kuiper-farming exploit termed after the playable character of the same name. View the full article

  11. Gamers always find the best ways to cheese the system and earn the best loot. The First Descendant is no different, and a Valby run emerged as the favorite approach—but how does it work? 15. STALKER 2 has been hit with another delay, pushing the game deeper into a late 2024 release date, but fans have been promised “the most comprehensive update on the game yet” in an imminent deep *****. 16. You might not remember it, but in early 2022, Netflix and 2K jointly announced the BioShock movie was back from the ***** and in active development. Later that year, we learned that Francis Lawrence (of I Am Legend and The Hunger Games fame) would be directing. Now, that's looking more and more unlikely. Up until recently, Lawrence has been openly chatting about the project and what his hopes and goals for it are, yet we're not convinced he'll be the filmmaker to journey down to Rapture once we look at his increasingly packed schedule. We do hope that notable scribe Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) stays on board though. Via Deadline, we've learned that production on the long-in-development big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Long Walk has finally started ********* with Lawrence in the director's chair. After that, he's supposedly sticking around in Panem for the next Hunger Games prequel, which would become the fifth installment in the long-running franchise he's handled. In fact, only the first Hunger Games was directed by someone else. Read more View the full article
  17. It's already exciting that Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is receiving the remaster it's always deserved but what makes it even better is that developer Asypr is giving fans the Easter egg that should have been in the original game. Released in 2002, LucasArts' cult-classic third-person action-adventure game served as a tie-in for Star Wars Episode II: ******* of the Clones by providing Jango Fett's backstory. While it may no longer be canon, it's good to see Aspyr bringing some of the more obscure Star Wars games to modern platforms, especially when it goes above and beyond. View the full article

  20. Ubisoft is battling a fresh Star Wars Outlaws gameplay ***** that saw over 13 minutes of footage hit the internet. The lengthy gameplay clip, which appears to reveal the start of Massive Entertainment’s upcoming adventure, was uploaded to YouTube before it was taken down by a copyright claim by Ubisoft, cementing its legitimacy. Of course, the internet noticed and has made the gameplay footage available elsewhere, although it’s worth pointing out it features heavy spoilers for the setup of Star Wars Outlaws protagonist Kay Vess’ adventures. Meanwhile, further footage has found its way to social media, apparently from the same source as the YouTube *****, this time showing Kay play Sabacc, the Star Wars card game, as well as over two minutes of space combat. It’s a disappointing development for Ubisoft, which has controlled the release of Star Wars Outlaws gameplay ever since it properly revealed the game at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. IGN has asked Ubisoft for comment. Warning! Star Wars Outlaws spoilers follow. The leaked gameplay footage shows Kay recovering from a ****** landing on a moon and having to fend off an ******* from a group of bandits. A local offers to help repair the spaceship, but in order to do so, Kay needs to head into the local town and secure work from a ****** boss. The gameplay shows third-person shooter combat, open world travel via landspeeder, and exploration of the town, which is packed with Stormtroopers asking people for identification. Kay manages to work her way into a meeting with the ****** boss, only to be thrown out. At this point, another local offers her a job which, if successful, will help her build up her reputation to the point where the ****** boss will take her seriously. Earlier this month, Massive revealed to IGN that three of the five planets in Star Wars Outlaws can be crossed in four or five minutes while riding a speeder. Speaking to IGN as part of a larger interview, creative director Julian Gerighty reiterated the planets — Tatooine, a Toshara moon, Akiva, Kijimi, and Cantonica — will be around the size of two or three zones in *********'s Creed Odyssey, and confirmed "Toshara is very close in size to Akiva and Tatooine; I think Tatooine may be a little bit larger." When then asked how long it would take Kay to ride from one end of Tosharra to the other side on her speeder, Gerighty gave the four or five minute answer, which will seemingly apply to Akiva and Tatooine too since they're around the same size. Star Wars Outlaws was revealed in 2023 as a scoundrel adventure set between Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi. It stars Kay, her droid partner ND-5, and her beastie friend Nix as they attempt to carve out their own success during Star Wars' golden era of ********* activity. It arrives August 27, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC, with the $70 Standard Edition joined by a $110 Gold Edition, which comes with three days of early access alongside the Season Pass. An even more expensive, digital-only Ultimate Edition comes with both of these perks alongside cosmetics (the Rogue Infiltrator Bundle and the Sebacc Shark bundle) alongside a digital art book. 22. Monster Hunter Now is good. Long-time readers of the site will know my opinion on the game from the often-gushing articles I’ve published over the past year. But from Summer Game Fest 2023, when I first played the game and fell in love, Niantic has improved the mobile title immeasurably. Initially, the roster of monsters on offer - and the overall flavour of the multiplayer gameplay - was limited. Unless you had IRL friends to go and hunt with, you were locked into playing most of the game in single-player, which means grinding out high-end monsters and often getting backed into progression bottle-necks if you couldn’t slay certain beasts. It was a relief, then, when Niantic introduced the ability to matchmake with other players earlier this year. It’s all very passive, and that’s kind of the point. If you load into a Hunt-a-thon that’s taking place at your local Post Office, say, and no one else is around in the real world, the game will now automatically find other players that are waiting in lobbies around the world for you to ***** a Barioth with.
