  1. In April 2022, Deus Ex: Human Revolution art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete unveiled his new project, a third-person descent into awfulness called ***** is Us, in development at Mordheim: City of the Damned studio Rogue Factor. It was supposed to be out sometime in 2023, and obviously that didn't happen—in fact, not much at all has happened on the public-facing front since then. But now it's back, with a 2025 release target and a debut gameplay trailer that appeared at today's State of Play showcase... Read more.View the full article
  2. Good news: Monster Hunter Wilds has a release date, so Capcom can finally stop throwing around that vague "2025" window. Even better: Wilds is launching on PC the same day as console, a huge first for the series, on February 28, 2025... Read more.View the full article
  3. Image: Sony Sony is launching shiny new “Chroma” console covers for the PlayStation 5 Slim that come in pearl, indigo, and teal. And if having an iridescent console isn’t eye-catching enough, you can also get new DualSense controllers to match. The Chroma console covers will cost $64.99 USD, while the DualSense controllers will cost $79.99. Sony is launching the Chroma pearl and indigo accessories on November 7th, followed by teal on January 23, 2025. The new colors look neat, but they’re quite intense — I’m not sure I’d want to swap out the sleek blue, red, or gray of the PS5 Slim for these. You’ll be able to preorder covers and controllers from the collection on October 3rd, with availability in the US, ***, France, Germany, Austria, Spain,... Continue reading… View the full article
  4. [/url][Hidden Content] Sony's Ghost of Yotei trailer. If you've been sleeping on the Akira Kurosawa-inspired, *********'s Creed-esque samurai game Ghost of Tsushima, you've been missing out. Given that it recently got a PC release, this is a great time to catch up on it—but now there's even more reason to do so, as Sony just announced a sequel titled Ghost of Yotei. Slated for a 2025 release, the game bears similarities to its predecessor. It follows a wandering samurai who rides horses across picturesque, wind-swept fields, befriends animals, and defeats enemies in katana duels. Whereas Ghost of Tsushima was set on Tsushima Island during the time of the Mongol invasion, Ghost of Yotei is (fittingly) set around the foot of Mount Yotei, one of Japan's most picturesque locales—the area is called Hokkaido today. 6. Monster Hunter has always been fairly niche as far as Capcom’s game series go, coming closest to the mainstream with 2018’s Monster Hunter World. That hasn’t stopped it from amassing a dedicated fanbase, however, and Capcom has finally pulled back the curtain on the series’ latest entry. Monster Hunter Wilds looks to be absolutely massive in every way imaginable, from its monster-filled world to the scope of the monsters inhabiting that world to the selection of weapons with which you’ll be asked to brutally ********** them. After much teasing since last year’s Game Awards, Wilds finally had its release date announced at today’s State of Play presentation: February 28, 2025. View the full article

  9. Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus monthly games for October 2024 at today's State of Play, which will be available from October 1 through November 4, 2024. The biggest edition to the line-up is WWE 2K24 on PS4 and PS5, which IGN gave an 8/10 in its review and compared to its predecessor saying, "While not drastically different, WWE 2K24 is better in almost every way, touting small but smart additions to well-tested systems and modes as opposed to taking ******* risks." Next up is last year's remake of ***** Space on PS5, which we gave a 9/10 and called "a superb remake and undoubtedly the definitive way to experience one of the best survival horror shooters that Capcom never made." Finally, PS Plus users will get access to Doki Doki Literature Club on PS5 and PS4, a game with a cute exterior but a very sinister premise. Doki Doki Literature Club launched on PC in 2017 and has rapidly become a beloved indie darling, becoming one of the best-selling indie games on Switch in 2021 when it launched on the system alongside new content. In the same segment of the presentation, PlayStation announced that both Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Dino Crisis would be joining PlayStation's Classics Catalog "soon" for PS Plus Premium subscribers. And finally, in celebration of The Last of Us Day on September 26, Naughty Dog and PlayStation are bringing The Last of Us Part 1 to the PS Plus game catalog for PS Plus Premium and Extra members. As September comes to a close, there are only a few days left to pick up September's monthly titles, which include Harry Potter Quidditch Champions, MLB The Show 24, and Little Nightmares 2. You can catch up with everything announced in today's State of Play right here. Rebekah Valentine is a senior reporter for IGN. Got a story tip? Send it to [email protected]. View the full article

  11. Sometimes it's really easy to nail down what a game is. It's like Elden Ring, or it's like Skyrim, and you're easily able to encapsulate exactly what it is that's brilliant about a title. Then there are games like Dark Sky, which is out now, which combine so many different genres and influences together, and you really begin to struggle. Read the rest of the story... 13. The long-awaited Ghost of Tsushima sequel was finally just revealed at PlayStation’s State of Play, but those hoping for more Jin Sakai adventures will be disappointed. In fact, it looks like the game may have little to do with the original at all. Ghost of Yōtei was revealed to take place in the year 1603, which is several hundred years after the events of Tsushima. And this game looks to feature a female protagonist. View the full article

  20. Image: Guerrilla Games Sony is releasing a remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn. The company announced the news during its State of Play event on Tuesday and says the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC starting October 31st with “stunning new visuals and enhanced features.” Rumors about a potential Horizon Zero Dawn remaster first emerged in 2022, but several news outlets spotted an ESRB rating for the remaster on the PS5 and PC just last week. Launched in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn puts you in control of Aloy, a hunter who lives in a postapocalyptic world overrun by mechanical creatures. It tasks you with taking down enemies using your bow, spear, and a little bit of stealth. Sony brought Horizon Zero Dawn to PC in 2020 and later released an... Continue reading… View the full article

  25. Image: PlayStation Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is one of those series of games that has always felt unjustly left behind to me, and at Sony’s State of Play today, it’s finally getting its due, at least a little. The two classic Crystal Dynamics games, which I enjoyed in their penultimate form on the Dreamcast, are getting a remaster for PlayStation consoles, courtesy of Aspyr Media. The remasters come out on December 10th. The two Soul Reaver games were supernatural action puzzlers with a heavy Lovecraftian bent released first for the original PlayStation and Windows PCs in 1999, then for the ***** Dreamcast in 2000. In them, you play Raziel, a jawless vampire who was brought back to life by an elder ****. He’s equipped with an ethereal sword (the titular... Continue reading… View the full article
