343 Industries isn't done supporting Halo Infinite, with a company official promising that the game will keep receiving updates. Double Fine's Psychonauts 2 documentary PsychOdyssey just got one final episode, wrapping up the game's years-long journey. Back in 2023, beloved indie developer Double Fine released a 32-part series covering the entire development of Psychonauts 2, the long-awaited follow-up to the PS2/ Xbox original. It tracked the game's development right from the very beginning, I'm talking when they were just spitting ideas out into the wind, offering a very unique look into the trials and tribulations of game development you pretty much can't get anywhere else. And now, Double Fine has released one final episode of PsychOdyssey, charting what came after the game was released, including reflections on some of the series' more dramatic moments. Psychonauts 2 didn't exactly have the smoothes of development periods. Double Fine kicked things off with the game by launching a crowdfunding campaign through Fig in 2016, a crowdfunding platform specifically for video games, which specifically allowed backers to gain a share of future revenues in future projects (the company was dissolved in 2023). It didn't actually release until 2021, but was actually received quite positively - Ty gave it full marks for VG247 at the time of release in his review. Read more View the full article
Pickups are returning with loads of pickaxes for the Greek Treasures Dig Hunt event in Monopoly GO through Leaps of Fortune, a two-day Solo event featuring 50 milestones worth of rewards. One of my favorite daily event objectives is Monopoly GO Pickups, where landing on a Pickup token earns you milestone points toward the event’s rewards. Between the Leaps of Fortune event and the Javelin Jolt Tournament Leaderboard, earning Treasure Hunt tokens is a breeze. All you need to do is roll those Dice with a multiplier. Starfield is full of interesting NPCs who offer their own quirks, ideologies, and backgrounds. Most of these characters, aside from a few plot-dependent exceptions, are straightforward about their identity. If you've been meaning to pick up something on the Xbox 360, you best do so soon, as you might have forgotten that its digital storefront closes tomorrow. Last yeah, Microsoft announced that it was shuttering the Xbox 360 Marketplace, a move welcomed by none, but one that isn't particularly surprising. The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS eShops both closed down last year, and Sony tried to shut down the PS3, Vita, and PSP storefronts back in 2021, though fan outcry ultimately reversed that decision, even if it has become a ball ache to buy anything on those platforms. And now, the ****** knell is ringing for the Xbox 360, the original pseudo-home for the modern indie game movement, as its digital Marketplace is shutting down tomorrow, July 29. As it was with the 3DS and Wii U, it's a bit of a preservationist's worst nightmare, officially speaking anyway. Last year, VGC released an analysis that found that more than 220 digital Xbox 360 games will no longer be available for purchase anywhere through official channels once the store goes down. This will likely also affect DLC for certain games as well, given how rare it is for most DLC to end up on disc, aside from re-releases of particular games. Read more View the full article

Halo Infinite, and the series as a whole, is in a rough spot right now. Between ongoing, unsubstantiated rumors that series developer 343 Industries is stepping away, a lack of truly meaningful updates, and anticipation for where Master Chief goes next, it's getting ******* to be excited about the shooter. I adore Infinite's gameplay but, like many, have struggled over the last few years to find meaningful reasons to stick around. To that end, 343 is once again letting us all know that it will continue supporting Infinite, but I'm not sure for how much longer. Read the rest of the story... There hasn't been a new main series Borderlands game in quite a while, but Gearbox head ****** Pitchford is confident fans will be "very, very happy" with the next one. It was only in 2022 when we last entered the world of Borderlands with New Tales from the Borderlands, and of course there was the spinoff Tiny Tina's Wonderlands too with a more fantasy take on the series' classic ********* and looting gameplay. But in terms of the main series, there hasn't been a new game since 2019's Borderlands 3, a whole five years ago. So that raises the question of where a hypothetical Borderlands 4 might be? It was mentioned last year on a developer's LinkedIn, but there hasn't been an official announcement in any capacity. Now, in a recent interview with GamesRadar, Gearbox head ****** Pitchford shared that fans won't have to wait all that long until they announce whatever's next for the world of Borderlands. "I haven't been perfect at hiding the fact that we're working on many things, and that we're working on big things," Pitchford said. "I’m confident that our fans are going to be very, very happy with the next video game project when we are ready to announce it. And I will tell you that we’re not going to be making people wait for a long time before we announce it." Read more View the full article

The Sims gives the majority of its attention to The Sims 4, which isn't surprising when the number of expansions and amount of money they brought in are considered. When The Sims 4 isn't in the spotlight, attention tends to turn towards The Sims 5, which is sometimes called Project Rene, as it seems to be an inevitable release for the future. However, there's a forgotten game in the franchise that could start a new and exciting series of spinoffs if it was given a bit of attention and a remake or made available through digital marketplaces and updated enough to run on modern PC systems. Titled, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, an official synopsis says the series “depicts the lives of fierce yet passionate gangsters and people living in a huge entertainment district, Kamurochō, a fictional district modeled after the violent Shinjuku ward’s Kabukichō, that acts as the backdrop of the gameplay.” The blurb continues: “Like a Dragon: Yakuza showcases modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, such as the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that games in the past have not been able to explore.” Read More... More than two years after The Batman was released, The Penguin TV series finally has a concrete release date. We've known for a little while now that The Penguin was due out sometime this coming September, but an exact release date has been up in the air a touch. Thankfully, you don't have to wait any longer to find out exactly when you'll be able to watch the spinoff show, as during San Diego Comic-****'s panel all about The Penguin, it was revealed that it would be airing September 19 on Max. That's just under two months away, so it's not particularly long to go now. Lucky for you, that wasn't the only thing revealed at the panel, as The Batman director Matt Reeves also made an appearance, where he spoke a bit about the upcoming sequel. For one, filming for The Batman - Part 2 is set to begin filming next year, something Alfred himself Andy Serkis has previously said, with Reeves saying that they need to have Colin Farrell's Penguin in a "certain place for that," also obviously implying that The Penguin will be in the sequel. What that place is, I guess we'll start to come to understand when the show arrives in September, but how that actually manifests in The Batman sequel we'll have to wait until 2026 to find out, as the film was delayed by an entire year back in March. Marvel revealed another new name for its Fantastic Four film during its Hall H Comic-**** panel, as it showed off some test footage for the upcoming movie. Back in February, Marvel finally gave its Fantastic Four film a proper name, The Fantastic Four, at the time also confirming who will be playing said quad of superheroes. Well, at Comic-**** this week, Marvel decided to give it another new name, though this one's more of an extension than an outright name change: The Fantastic Four: First Steps. What that subtitle means, I couldn't tell you, though I assume it'll be something to do with heading out into space, or into another universe, given that it's set in a retro-future New York City separate from the main MCU's universe. Director Matt Shakman shared that production on the film is due to kick off this coming Monday over here in the ***, but there was a bit of teaser footage shown off all the same. Apparently the footage included a look at Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing respectively in their astronaut outfits, then heading off in a big spaceship, with the final shot being their main bad guy, the ever-giant Galactus hovering above Earth.
