  1. The big prize in EA FC 25 Ultimate Team at launch is the 92 OVR card for Erling Haaland. Completing his POTM SBC requires a lot of effort and coins, but we’ll try to keep them to a minimum with our cheapest solutions. There are two separate SBCs you need to do for the POTM Haaland card—POTM Haaland One and POTM Haaland Two. Each SBC requires four teams and each submitted team has its respective pack reward. 3. The challenge for MMOs is that they need to do everything all at once. They'll have an open-world, crafting, PvE, PvP, and content for every step along the way from the start of your journey to its end. Some, however, lean towards one of these pillars a little more than the others. In the case of Throne and Liberty, which is out now in the West in early access before its full launch, the focus is definitely on PvP, with its large-scale battles having huge ramifications for the entire game. The question is, however, how do you keep it fair? Read the rest of the story... 4. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s TGS 2024 trailer is out, and It’s got my spirits high—almost like I’m still in a dream. Konami dropped a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at Tokyo Game Show 2024. To fans of the series like myself, this looks like an amazing homecoming potentially worth rethinking some grievances with the developer. What unfolds here is a full look at the Virtuous Mission, which kicks off the game’s events. View the full article

  6. Electronic Arts and Maxis recently announced the development of Project Rene, an online portal for The Sims that increases accessibility to creator content, such as mods and online gameplay. With the news, The Sims 5 is no longer in the picture, with The Sims 4 instead continuing its decade-long run. Project Rene will therefore be the series' next big release, and it needs to implement these features to further enhance the game into what it could be. View the full article
  7. There are few games that have come out this year and attracted quite as much attention as Manor Lords. The debut from lone developer Slavic Magic, Manor Lords may still be in Early Access, but it's already one of the most extensive medieval life simulators to date, even unfinished. With settlement building systems like those found in Frostpunk 2 or Cities: Skylines 2, army management in the style of a less involved Total War: Medieval, and battles reminiscent of Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, the game is an ambitiously and already successfully realized vision. And now's the perfect time to play it for yourself as it's just received a substantial discount that lowers it to its cheapest price on Steam yet. Read the rest of the story... 8. Sometimes, a game comes along and builds a level of mystique based on glowing word of mouth about the surprises contained within. Inscryption was one of these games, as was Doki Doki Literature Club. Last year, it was Slay the Princess, a horror visual novel with the unassumingly straightforward premise of being tasked with saving the world by ******** an entrapped princess. Of course, a good story can never be quite so simple, and the game's plot unfolds with the kind of twists and turns that get players excited to spread the word about what they've experienced. Now, building on this reputation, Slay the Princess' maker, ****** Tabby Games, has announced that a free upgrade called The Pristine Cut is due to arrive very soon. Read the rest of the story... 10. I don't know why we haven't written about Mechabellum before now, but we haven't. Let's correct that. It's an autobattler in which you plonk down squads of stompy robots then watch them win or lose against your opponent's army based on the formations and upgrades you've chosen. After more than a year in Early Access, it's just released version 1.0. Read more View the full article
  11. MMOs have to make money from the first second to keep their servers running. NCSoft’s Throne and Liberty is no different, offering a variety of Early Access Packs to entice players to get in on the ground floor—but how exactly you claim these special items can be unclear. Whether you get the Standard, Deluxe or Ultimate Early Access Packs, you’re still going to be out a significant chunk of change, especially considering that the base game is free. With this in mind, it’s even more crucial to know just how to claim your items, especially since a not insignificant amount of the game’s virtual currency will be among them. View the full article
  12. The Forever Winter is upon us, and the gritty extraction “shooter” is already making the rounds. However, the game has been met with a ton of criticism from players despite its many positives, with critics mostly citing tech problems and the strange, unnecessary water mechanic. The technical problems were to be expected. Developed by a small team and released way early through the Steam early access system, the title was bound to suffer from technical and performance issues. Janky movement, clipping, and other related bugs are sort of part of the early access package, no matter what game you’re getting (there have been notable exceptions to the rule, but it’s still a rule). The primary problem, however, has nothing to do with your bog standard early access jank. No, this time it’s a real-time water mechanic that requires you to constantly bring water from runs to your base, or else it will tick down even when offline, wipe your progress, and return you to first base. 14. Destiny 2 players may get some popcorn ready ahead of Oct. 11 if they’re planning to watch the new show. The game’s next dungeon, called Vesper’s Host, is getting a race to world’s first—and a new Exotic if you can clear it within 48 hours. Raid races have been an essential part of seasons and expansions in Destiny 2. In a blog post today, Bungie confirmed the upcoming Vesper’s Host dungeon is getting the same treatment, including unique rewards and a 48-hour-long contest mode. Players who complete the dungeon within the first 48 hours can also get a guaranteed drop of the dungeon’s Exotic *******, which is likely the popular Ice Breaker from the first Destiny. The studio teased the ******* in a blog post for the franchise’s 10th anniversary earlier this month, and players can start to chase it after next month. View the full article

  17. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. | Image: Sony If you thought you’d buy a new copy of Horizon Zero Dawn on Sony’s digital storefront for a smooth $20 and just pay an extra $10 for the new remastered version when it arrives on October 31st, think again. Sony has quietly doubled the price of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition on the PlayStation Store. While Sony has long sold the game for $20 online — as far back as 2018, it seems — it upped that price to $40 on September 25th, just one day after announcing the new remastered game. The changes were spotted by @GamePittReviews. While those of us with an existing copy can upgrade for $10 — regardless of whether your copy is disc or digital, PlayStation or PC — new players will have to pay a full $50 for the remastered version if they... 20. There's nothing quite like a fast-paced FPS. From the very first time a Quake player launched themselves into the air with a rocket, the potential for hyperkinetic ******-outs has been apparent, going on to appear in games like Titanfall 2, the Tribes series, Ghostrunner, Neon White, and Boomerang X. 22. Do I like citybuilders such as Cities: Skylines and SimCity 4, or do I simply like roadbuilders? I spend most of my time in both those games tweaking the network of roads and junctions that form the veins of my cities, after all, and attempting to solve traffic jams via public transport and simulation-expanding mods.
