  1. A Baldur's Gate 3 fan has made a list of all the things they're glad Larian Studios left out of the massive fantasy RPG. Gamers usually hope for more game mechanics to be implemented in big titles, especially RPGs, but in the case of Baldur's Gate 3, some fans feel like less is more given the title's massive size. 2. Everything in Windblown happens in the blink of an eye. You're equipped with a lightning-quick dash, and it barely has a cooldown—one shortened further when going from platform to platform in its roguelike world of floating islands. Time only ever slows down for milliseconds when you dodge just as an ******'s swing is about to connect. Downtime is in short supply and the pace begat an exhilarating flow state that had me thinking half a dozen inputs in advance... Read more.View the full article
  3. The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) has allegedly suspended a Pokémon TCG player who shared their story of being harassed and misgendered at a recent event. According to an Oct. 2 post on X (formerly Twitter), Pokémon TCG player Ihana Mazezka was suspended by TPCi after they spoke out about alleged harassment they had experienced at Baltimore Regionals (which took from from Sept. 14 to 15). In Mazezka’s original Sept. 18 post recounting the incident, they claimed one of their opponents, Steven Lahlou, had repeatedly misgendered them after the head judge corrected him multiple times. And according to Mazezka’s partner, Lanlou continued “mocking the pronoun part of the situation” with his friend group at the event. View the full article

  6. It's hard to fault Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 thanks to its generous wealth of content, engaging, action-packed story, and riotously good combat that is endlessly fun. Of course, no game is exempt from criticism, and even Space Marine 2 in all of its chaotic glory has its share of issues, namely with its story. Fortunately, the future DLC or sequel that developer Saber Interactive have begun promising has the perfect opportunity to finally rectify it and offer players the perfect solution. 8. Leaks are hotting up about Nvidia's new second-in-command, with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 specs and performance rumored to offer several improvements over the current RTX 4080, but without rocking the boat too much. After the catastrophic launch of the GeForce RTX 4080, where one card ended up being "unlaunched" and the final card had an absurdly high price, we're hoping that Nvidia has learned some lessons for this GPU's successor. While the RTX 5090 looks set to be the Nvidia flagship in its new Blackwell gaming GPU lineup, where it's likely to take the best graphics card medal, the RTX 5080 should be much cheaper. Plus, while Nvidia misjudged the pricing of the original RTX 4080, it (just about) returned to form when it launched the cheaper and faster RTX 4080 Super for $999 at the start of 2024. If you’ve played any of the many other LEGO games before, you probably have an idea of what it means to LEGO-fy a game. These games always inject a large dose of goofiness to the goings on, while generally telling the same story as the source material. But the LEGO-fication is always a delight, and these games are easy enough to play with kids, which is great for any parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, babysitters, or basically anyone looking to entertain a **** or two, couch co-op style. This particular game gives us LEGO minifigure versions of Aloy, Varl, Teersa, and Erend, and drops them in the overgrown prehistoric-looking world you’ll be familiar with if you’ve played the originals. In addition to battling robotic dinosaurs, you can also customize your characters with various outfits and create a home for them out of LEGO blocks. 11. Silent Hill is one of the biggest—if not the biggest—survival horror franchises ever made. In 25 years, the franchise has spawned more than a dozen games, with nine main games (including the Silent Hill 2 remake) and several spin-offs. Over the years, Silent Hill titles became very hit or miss as the franchise took a few diversions. Here are (objectively) the best Silent Hill games when taking into consideration the franchise as a whole. View the full article

  13. The Football Manager series has been around for decades, each of its yearly entries gradually building upon its core systems until it became the mixture of deep simulation and banal press conference screens it is today. Football Manager 2025 is different: a fresh start for the series, built upon a new engine, which Sports Interactive are at pains to say will not immediately be as rich or robust as its predecessor. It now has a release date: November 26th. Read more View the full article
  14. I miss the height of Wordle mania not because of the game itself, which I still play on occasion, but because of the torrent of delightful, experimental browser-based puzzle games that followed in its wake. Worldle, Octordle, Moviedle, Waffle, Who Are Ya?, Cloudle and many, many more were a gold rush of bandwagon jumpers I was fully onboard with. Scrambled Maps takes me back to those good old days. It bears little relation to Wordle, but it is a browser-based puzzle game that offers one new challenge each day, and it is just as delightful a distraction. Read more View the full article

  16. When I first ***** eyes on Kvark, my mind immediately flashed to Sovietcore boomer shooter Hrot—which, for the record, I enjoyed every bit as much as PC Gamer comrade Ted Litchfield. Playing it, though, I found something quite different: A boomer shooter, yes, and very much an ironic take on the grim fatalism of life in a grubby ******* satellite state. But the feel of the game is really much more in line with the original Half-Life... Read more.View the full article
  17. Coming off of the news that a new The Sims game isn't currently a priority for EA, The Sims 4 community have only found further disappointment in recent leaks from Project Rene. According to the report, the game will feature a new protagonist never before seen in the franchise and be set thousands of years in the past. 19. Destiny 2 fans have been asking for a Stasis-aligned glaive since this archetype released in 2022’s The Witch Queen, and Bungie is finally delivering with Revenant, its next episode. 23. "Turn-based" games are, as we know, all derived from Turn, the strategy game about a dog digging for coins released for the BBC Micro in 1987. Prior to this, all actions in games simply took place simultaenously, as fast as the player or players could make them. Fast forward to today and many games are now "turn-based", from Tactics Ogre Reborn to Age Of Wonders 4 to chess. In celebration of their orderliness, Steam is currently running a turn-based RPG fest featuring discounts and demos for "turn-based games where you grow stronger with every battle". 25. Digital card and casino-style table games are usually presented to players without a lot of extra flair. Even videogame-first iterations of card games like Balatro, Card Shark, or Stacklands typically keep their attention focused on the cards themselves, rarely venturing away from the table to depict in-world characters as we see in Inscryption or Buckshot Roulette. Liar's Bar, a new game that resembles the above projects - or a much darker and more involved version of Telltale's bygone Poker Night at the Inventory - has just come out in Early Access on Steam, though, providing a gruesome take on this style of design.
