Roblox Corporation stocks dipped on Tuesday after a new report from investment firm Hindenburg Research, which accused it of deliberating inflating its daily active user stats and fostering what it described as an "X-rated pedophile hellscape" for children. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Hindenburg Research is a well-known short-selling firm known for investigating high-profile stocks and making bets against them, which sometimes leads to investigations by the U.S. Justice Department. Its previous targets have included green transportation company Nikola, India's Adani Group, and Super Micro Computer. A former data scientist told us that activity in Vietnam 'inflated a lot of our numbers. Like crazy, insane, in terms of engagement, DAU' In its report, Hindenburg Research says Roblox's claim of 79.5 million daily active users is inflated by between 25 percent and 42 percent, citing a technical consultant that it says monitored 7,200 Roblox games across 2.1 million server, collecting 297.7 million rows of real-time player data. It also notes that in 2023, Roblox told the SEC that it is "unable to identify if a user has multiple accounts," and claims that a large amount of engagement stems from **** rings operating out of countries such as Vietnam. "A former data scientist told us that activity in Vietnam 'inflated a lot of our numbers. Like crazy, insane, in terms of engagement, DAU," the reports says. Elsewhere, the report accuses Roblox of being a haven for groomers and pedophiles due to its lack of "up-front screening to prevent them from joining the platform." In one of its most serious accusations, the report claims to have found a group called "****** Studios," which has since been blocked, with 3,334 members openly trading child ************ and soliciting ******* acts. Roblox's response is an abject ******** to address the two core allegations in our report, including: 1. Evidence that Roblox has been systematically lying for years about the number of people on its platform and their genuine level of engagement. 2. That the platform is a… [Hidden Content] — Hindenburg Research (@HindenburgRes) October 8, 2024 A Roblox spokesperson called the report "misleading" in a statement to the Wall Street Journal and accused Hindenburg Research of having an agenda. "We firmly believe that Roblox is a safe and secure platform and in the financial metrics we report." Hindenburg Research responded by arguing that the company's response ******* to address the report's core allegations. IGN has reached out to the Roblox Corporation for any further comment. Many of the accusations within the report have been circulating for some time now. A 2023 class action lawsuit in California accused the Roblox Corporation of being misleading about "the efficacy of its filtering technologies and its ability to make the site safe and appropriate for children." A 2021 report by YouTube channel People Make Games alleged that Roblox was exploiting child labor. "Overall, we think Roblox has adopted the Silicon Valley approach of ‘growth at all costs’, whether by misleading or outright lying to investors about its key metrics or by opening its platform to dangerous predators and illicit content unsuitable for children," the report says, with the Hindenburg Group saying that it has taken a short position in shares for the Roblox corporation. Spectre Divide came onto the gaming scene hot, with a legitimately interesting twist on the tactical shooter genre and an advisory role for former CS:GO pro/FPS streaming **** shroud. Unfortunately, it couldn’t maintain that momentum, and its player count quickly dwindled. After debuting to a peak of 26,000 players on Steam according to Steam Charts, Spectre Divide is now hovering between 2,000 and 3,000 peak concurrent players on a daily basis. That’s definitely better than, say, Concord, but it also isn’t setting the world on *****, and Mountaintop Studios has even ***** off a few devs since the game’s launch. Despite these concerns, Mountaintop CEO Nate Mitchell posted a blog today clearing up rumors and concerns for those still playing the game, promising a full new update of fresh content in season one—schedules for launch in December 2024 or January 2025—while the developers collect feedback in their current “save round,” as Mitchell puts it. If you’ve watched IShowSpeed’s streams at any point in time, you’ve probably noticed he has a couple of go-to moves he pulls off to keep things lively. Now, he’s closing in on a world record for one of them. And no, it’s not barking. Speed’s currently in the middle of a self-advertised world record attempt for the most backflips completed in 24 hours. And he’s making some excellent headway, as well. He only began about seven hours ago, and his counter sits at 500 backflips at time of writing—just under halfway to the world record number 1,001. While he’s understandably slowed down from his early pace and he’s taken some ample breaks to nap and take breaks, that world record should be attainable for him if he can keep his pace steady. If the world record ends up counting at all, that is. View the full article

When faced with a legal threat from Nintendo, most alleged modders, ROM pirates, and/or emulator makers will simply give in to a cease-and-desist demand, reach an out of court settlement, or plead guilty rather than hiring legal representation for what could be a lengthy, costly trial. Then there's Ryan Daly, alleged owner of ModdedHardware.com, who has apparently decided to represent himself as a recent lawsuit brought against him by the Switch maker moves forward. Nintendo says it first approached Daly in March about his site (currently password-protected but archived here) and its sales of modded Switch consoles, console modding services, and piracy-enabling devices such as the MIG Switch card that were pre-installed with popular Nintendo games. At that time, Daly agreed "both verbally and in signed writing" to refrain from these infringing sales, according to Nintendo. It was only after months of Daly continuing those sales and largely ignoring further contact from Nintendo that the company says it was forced to file its June lawsuit in a Seattle federal court. In that initial lawsuit, Nintendo said it "received a communication from a lawyer purporting to represent [Daly]" in June, followed by a message days later that Daly "was in the process of obtaining new counsel." That search for new counsel has seemingly not moved forward, as last week Daly filed a pro se response to Nintendo's allegations, representing himself without any outside legal advice (thanks, TorrentFreak). The many classes of Throne and Liberty fulfill roles typical of an MMO, but characters of different archetypes need to consider which stats to level up early to follow these paths best. For example, a Tank will not benefit from increases to a stat that doesn't play into its strengths. Builds are established at low levels, so you need to understand which stats matter sooner rather than later. View the full article
