  1. No zombie game can truly be considered great if bashing them into a pulp doesn't feel fun. Thankfully, ***** Island 2 is a genre leader when it comes to providing fun zombie-pulping action - its chunky melee combat and ridiculous ******* mods system make it an absolute riot, and it was well worth the decade-long wait. However, developer Dambuster Studios isn't finished with ***** Island 2 yet. Later this year, it'll be getting a big free update that I believe could really elevate it into the halls of zombie game greatness. Read the rest of the story... 2. There are some constants in the universe that you can almost set a clock by. The sun will rise in the morning. You'll have to pay taxes. You'll buy Skyrim again. And Diablo 4 players will find new exploits to duplicate items. The latter has happened once again, with a fresh exploit serving up huge amounts of items, crashing the economy. Thankfully, Blizzard has stepped in, taking a massive hammer to the game's trading system. Read the rest of the story... 3. Dr Disrespect is already plotting a streaming comeback just weeks after admitting to messaging a minor and disappearing from the internet, with the disgraced content creator today telling fans he’ll be “back soon.” “Vacation is just too good right now… We’ll be back soon though Champs. We have lots to talk about,” the streamer wrote on X (formerly Twitter) alongside the “Yayaya” phrase that usually represents him laughing. At the same time, Dr Disrespect seems to have scrubbed the apology he’d shared in June where he admitted to sending messages “verging on inappropriate” to an “individual minor” through Twitch whispers. 4. Valve has dropped Patch 7.37b, shaking up the Dota 2 meta presumably one last time as we approach The Internationals 2024 in three weeks. Following the major Facet reworks of Patch 7.37, this alphabet patch aims to smooth out the rough edges. While none of the changes look groundbreaking on the surface, we all know how small number tweaks can cause an entire meta shift. View the full article
  5. Following the release of Bloomburrow and Magic: The Gathering’s Standard rotation, the MTG Arena best-of-one meta has shifted to Aggro and Midrange decks. Casual MTG Arena players seeking quick matches through decks with over a 55 percent win rate will want to play any or all of the top-performing decks listed in this article. A misconception within the Magic community is that all players competing in formats like Standard have aspirations of becoming *****. But this isn’t true. Best-of-three games take a long time to play, especially on a mobile device while in the bathroom. View the full article

  8. “There’s no way this streamer has 20K viewers,” you’ve probably mumbled to yourself at some point. We might find out soon enough if that’s true, thanks to new regulations announced today by the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC published a “final” ruling on purchasing AI comments and reviews for products today, strictly prohibiting the practice in the ******* States. And while most of these new rules target reviews and testimonials for products, there’s also an interesting addition in the last section about social media indicators. “The final rule prohibits anyone from selling or buying fake indicators of social media influence, such as followers or views generated by a **** or hijacked account,” the post reads. That definitely seems to implicate stream viewership numbers, as companies and esports organizations often tout their viewership numbers to media companies and prospective investors alike. And it could mean any U.S. streamers that are view botting will need to clean up their act quickly. View the full article
  9. Valve has been cooking up a new game, Deadlock, in secret, which offers a MOBA-like approach in the shooter genre. But how many people are already playing it? Like Marvel Rivals, Deadlock is a third-person shooter with many characters that have unique abilities and ultimates. While the game’s unavailable on the Steam library, several leaks from the players in the closed alpha playtest showcase Deadlock’s gameplay, with one ***** suggesting that the game has already amassed over 200,000 players. 10. The former is down to $134.99 ($25 off) in white at Amazon and $139.99 at Best Buy (or $143.99 in all three colors from Logitech), while the latter is discounted to $341.99 ($38 off) at Best Buy, Amazon, and Logitech’s online storefront. 12. Balancing games is a tricky business—just ask Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead about that. Generally speaking, games need to put up enough of a challenge to keep players engaged without unduly punishing them when they get out of line, a mystical zone of difficulty sometimes casually referred to as "fun." In a new video on the topic, Josh Sawyer discusses his approach to Fallout: New Vegas, saying he wanted to ensure the game was a bit more of a challenge for players than Fallout 3 or Skyrim—but that he couldn't just crank up the numbers to make it happen... 14. The animals of Stardew Valley are all adorable in their own way but one fan explicitly proved that pigs are the one exception to the rule. Ever since ConcernedApe's Farming RPG launched in 2016, the community has been divided on the pig sprite with many insisting that the abundance of wrinkles and scrunched-up faces make for aesthetically unappealing creatures. In comparison to other livestock options like cows, goats, and sheep, Pig 's may bring in plenty of cash with their truffles but they certainly don't make for an appealing farmyard. 16. Image: The Verge Valve has started publicly testing sorting reviews in the Steam store based on how well they help players make purchase decisions about games. Historically we’ve sorted reviews by the number of ‘helpful’ votes given to each review by other players. However, we’ve seen that many players use reviews for sharing jokes, memes, ascii art and other content that might not be the most helpful for a potential purchaser. Its solution to the problem is the new “helpfulness system,” which introduces an enabled-by-default “most helpful” toggle that skips past highly upvoted ASCII art or memes to show reviews Valve deems more informative. 18. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 may have been delayed to next year, according to updated product listings for the game at leading US retailers. When it was revealed in April, publisher Plaion said Warhorse Studios’ action RPG sequel would be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year. However, on Wednesday it emerged that retailers including Best Buy and Walmart had updated their product listings with a February 11, 2025 release date (the former has now changed its listing again to state that a release date has not been announced). 19. Splitgate 2 retains a lot of what earned the original Splitgate such a passionate fan base, with portals intensifying the classic arena-shooter experience. But it also updates that formula with factions, abilities, and Perks. Perks are little boosts to different aspects of gameplay you can tailor to your playstyle. While they might not be as big as your faction’s abilities, they still provide nuance to how you like to play the game and can even add some utility for your team—or just help you go on a longer ******** spree, if that’s what you’re into. Here are all of the current Perks and how they work in Splitgate 2, currently in alpha testing. View the full article
