  1. Ever since seeing its adorable castle doodling clips on social media I've been desperate for Tiny Glade. The little ***** back building game has caught a lot of cozy gaming fans that way, ********* up way higher on the list of most wishlisted Steam games (spot 19 as of writing) than I'm used to seeing cozy games attain. It won't have to stay on our wishlists much longer now because Pounce Light has just announced it will launch on September 23... Read more.View the full article

  4. The Plucky Squire - one of the coolest looking indie games set to release this year - has finally got itself a release date. It's going to launch on September 17, but PlayStation Plus subscribers will be happy to learn that they'll be able to download it day-one. This was announced via the official PlayStation Twitter account, and was paired with a lovely little gameplay video showcasing the game. The game will be added to the PlayStation Plus games catalogue, so even if you decide to sign up a little later in the year The Plucky Squire should be there waiting for you. The Plucky Squire, for those who don't know, is looking especially rad in an already-stacked year of slick releases. It blends 2D and 3D gameplay together in an uber colourful drawing book style aesthetic that's ***** pleasing to the eye. The developer, All Possible Futures, is releasing it as its first game with Devolver Digital as a publisher, and if Devolver's name isn't a stamp of approval at this point for ambitious, amazing indies then I don't know what to tell you. 5. If you relished the splashier gunfights of Cyberpunk 2077, like the sound of ***** meets Blade Runner, or wish you could jam your nose right into the neon trenches of Ruiner, you will likely enjoy the announcement trailer for Defect. It's a new "cyberpunk, squad-based, Immersive Objective Shooter" from emptyvessel, a team of erstwhile id Software, Call Of Duty and Naughty Dog folks. Read more View the full article
  6. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a highly anticipated title from Bioware, and for Dragon Age fans, it’s been a game many cannot wait to get their hands on—and they only have to wait a couple more months with the game’s release date now official. The release date should not be subject to change as we draw closer to getting our hands on the game. Many who have previewed it have had positive responses to the game, and with Bioware focusing on a deeper, richer story experience, we can only expect a heartfelt return to Thedas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. How much longer do you have to wait until you can get your hands on the game? View the full article

  8. Tiny Glade is a relaxing, wholly escapist building sim where you can kick back and summon villages, cottages and castles whilst listening to whimsical tunes without the worry of combat or busywork. This cosy game has received a lot of attention, becoming the fourth most-played demo during Steam Next Fest and earning a place within our own list of favourite demos. It now has a release date - 23rd September 2024. Read more View the full article
  9. I'll have to write about this in more detail once the full game arrives, but from what I've played so far, Hollowbody seems to be set inside one of my own personal worst nightmares. Mechanically it resembles classic Silent Hill and Resident Evil, a limited-ammo, fixed-camera survival horror game with tough combat and exploration-based puzzles, but visually it's closer to Cyberpunk 2077's Night City - or at least Night City's bleakest, most decrepit little corners. Surreal and scary, Hollowbody is one of the best new horrors I've tried so far this year, and now the complete game is arriving on Steam soon. Read the rest of the story... 10. There are many things associated with life under the surface: Sea life, sunken ships, coral reefs, and the act of getting up close and personal with sharks via a flimsy metal cage (which baffles me to this day.) But plants are a big talking point too, and we’re looking at a particular “Underwater plant that can grow over a foot a day” in today’s NYT Mini Crossword. ‘Underwater plant that can grow over a foot a day’ NYT Mini clue hints Eight across clue. Image via Dot Esports Hint one: It’s almost a cry for help.Hint two: “E” is the only vowel.Hint there: Can be used as a code for El Paso International Airport.Hint four: Ends with “P.” These clues will soon become water under the bridge as I reveal the answer. 11. Image: BioWare BioWare is announcing the release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard and sharing a new trailer to commemorate the occasion. Players will be able to return to Thedas — the name of the game’s world that is simultaneously a clever acronym for The Dragon Age Setting — on October 31st, more than 10 years after the release of the previous game, Dragon Age: Inquisition. [/url] Oh man, there’s some lore going on in this new trailer. Up until now, fans assumed that Solas, a companion from Inquisition who went rogue during the events of the game’s Trespasser DLC, would be the main bad guy. But this trailer confirms a burgeoning community theory that Solas is just a small fry compared to the game’s real big baddies — the Elven gods. BioWare announced V... 12. Bandai Namco is making the first ever Dragon Ball MOBA game via Dragon Ball Project: Multi and what could be an awesome concept on its face will probably fall flat and be entirely unenjoyable. I remember tuning into Dragon Ball Z for the first time when I was around 10 years old or so, back when the show was featured on Cartoon Network on the weekends, waking up early just to catch my favorite heroes power up to an absurd degree in which I'd never seen before. 13. Alien: Romulus is now opening across the globe, and the first reviews are in. Surprise, surprise, it seems that it's pretty good. That said, does the critical approval rating actually represent a solid average score? When put against all the other entries in the long-running Alien franchise, including the Alien vs. Predator crossovers, it's definitely true that Fede Álvarez's (Evil ***** '13, Don't Breathe) take on the iconic sci-fi horror IP has convinced more critics (83% at the moment of writing) than any sequel or prequel since 1986's Aliens, directed by James Cameron. That's no small feat. But of course, most entertainment fanatics prefer to look at Metacritic for an actual look into the scores that are being shared, as the Metascore is a single score built from a weighted average that comes from top critic scores. Therefore, Metascores are typically much lower than Tomatometers. In the case of the latest Alien movie, it's sitting right now at 64/100, which is considered 'generally favorable' when it comes to movies. Read more View the full article

  19. Were you brave enough to ignore our review of the Borderlands movie and miss out on learning exactly the kind of thing you were in for when watching it? Well, at least it wasn't an Uwe Boll-directed video game adaptation. The disgraced director is making fun of the movie on Twitter though. Borderlands' global box office haul during its first weekend in theaters was an embarrassing $16.5 million on a production budget estimated around $115 million (plus marketing costs). Needless to say, that's a massive flop, the kind that instantly ****** any hope of ever sequelising a movie. There just wasn't any tangible hype surrounding the movie, and the brutal critic reviews certainly didn't help its case. Now, even Boll, the mind behind F-tier video store bangers like Alone in the Dark (2005), BloodRayne (2005), or Far Cry (2008), is openly mocking Lionsgate's Eli Roth-directed misfire. 'Join in on the fun,' I'd say, but he messed it all up when he stated anyone wishes he directed Borderlands. Read more View the full article

  21. As a Scottish person, I'm relatively accustomed to seeing oil rigs. They're dotted across the north of Scotland, looming eerily in the distance, often drenched in sea mist and framed by gray skies. Most recently, we saw Still Wakes the Deep transform one of our rigs into a twisted, nightmare-infested hellhole, and Dredge is looking to follow in its footsteps. The fishing game's latest DLC, The Iron Rig, drops today, and I'm far too excited about it. Read the rest of the story... 24. The Plucky Squire launches September 17, 2024 and straight onto the PlayStation Plus Premium Games Catalog. Developer All Possible Futures announced the release date while PlayStation revealed on X/Twitter it would be adding the game to its premium subscription service at launch. It is the first game confirmed for the September 2024 line up, just one day after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Wild Hearts, Cult of the Lamb, and more were locked in for August. It will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on the announced September 17 date. "The Plucky Squire follows the magical adventures of Jot and his companions, storybook characters who discover a three-dimensional world outside the pages of their book," reads the official synopsis. "They must jump between 2D and 3D realms to save their friends in this charming action-adventure." The 2D portions are top-down, hand-drawn gameplay sections filled with mini games, while the 3D sections offer a huge world set inside a child's bedroom to explore. Fans have been waiting more than two years for The Plucky Squire, as it was announced during a Devolver Digital showcase in June 2022. All Possible Futures has revealed tidbits of information since then, but always stopped short of an actual release date until now. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter.
