Valve’s MOBA shooter Deadlock isn’t the only game capturing attention on PC this week, with thousands of players piling into Spectre Divide‘s early access. The shooter, developed by Mountaintop Games in partnership with Shroud, is looking to freshen up the FPS genre—and isn’t holding back early. A little over 10,000 players hit the Spectre Divide servers today alone, according to stats site SteamDB; the highest count since 15,979 graced the first playtest two weeks ago. The player base fluctuates heavily, but early signs are great for the new shooter and with the weekend approaching, we’re likely going to see that 15,000-mark broken again very soon. The Pokémon World Championships 2024 is underway in Honolulu, Hawaii, and like with previous years, it sports an exclusive pop-up Pokémon Center store filled to the brim with items that can only be bought for attendees and locals. Hawaii isn’t exactly a local or affordable place for many people to head to, so not many folks will ever see inside this particular Pokémon Center, let alone enjoy many of the experiences on offer from Aug. 16. So, we thought we’d give you a sneak peek. View the full article

I enjoy a good challenge, but today’s NYT crossword puzzle feels impossible to solve because you only have one clue to solve two separate clues—this is another joined clue. “With Six-Across, ‘Let me start by saying …'” is one of the clues from the NYT’s Aug. 15 Mini Crossword puzzle, and it goes with six-across, “See one across.” If you’re stuck, you’re in the right place as I have the answers to both of these clues below. If things go according to schedule, we'll be playing Oblivion remade in Skyrim next year. The latest trailer for the Skyblivion project shows it looking pretty smooth (apart from one discolored face and a horse walking while going nowhere), highlighting two quests in and around the town of Chorrol. Chorrol itself looks lush and colorful, with some real pretty windmills on the outskirts and an impressive fountain outside the Mages Guild. Everything is so nice to look at that it makes the blandness of the actual quests in this quest showcase stand out... Read more.View the full article
If you've been hanging for a bargain on some long-form gaming, today's your lucky day. I'm tracking a ton of discounts on quality RPG titles, many of them are Bethesda-produced, but there are also some AAAs from other outfits that were released quite recently. Anyway, enough talk. Valve will now be keeping a close eye on those who use SnapTap in Counter-Strike 2 after an update for the shooter went live today. For those currently giving the controversial feature a go in CS2, ***** not—Valve isn’t dishing out bans yet. When it comes to Baldur's Gate 3's roster of characters, few have managed to stand out like Shadowheart and Dame Aylin, a fact that's illustrated by this talented duo of cosplayers.
