  1. This release includes a variety of bug fixes and quality of life improvements for SteamVR. We continue to focus on OpenXR as our preferred API for new games and applications. SteamVR’s official OpenXR subforum is here and we’d love to hear your feedback, as well as suggestions for new features. SteamVR: Improve startup speed when no HMD is present. Fix an issue that could cause "Port 27062 in use" (can also manifest as error 309) when no HMD is present. Fix an issue that could result in error 302 or error 101, especially in unusual startup configurations. Changed Binding UI to allow saving bindings that don't bind all required actions (with confirmation). Fixed an issue where HMD simulation would persist after an app using controller simulation ended. Fixed some scenarios where the wrong render model would be displayed when multiple devices were simulating. Fix a ****** that could occur if the roomview processing was delayed. Updated dashboard binding for HP Motion Controller to fix screenshots, smooth scrolling, and take advantage of Quick Recenter. The prompt to setup SteamVR for app containers and web applications now covers cases where SteamVR is installed outside of its normal location. Fixed chaperone showing when using Steam Link or wired headsets that draw their own boundaries. Steam Link: Fix Steam Link freeze for users with AMD video cards ("Error 250"). Minor judder improvements. Linux: Fix a shared memory leak that happened each time an app disconnected from SteamVR. Note: The 'Previous' branch will remain parked at 2.12.14 temporarily. As always, if you are interested, we encourage enrolling into SteamVR Beta by right-clicking on SteamVR in your Steam library, clicking on "Properties" and selecting "Betas" from the list on the left hand side and then clicking "Beta" under Beta Participation. 2. Fortnite's new season and chapter begin this weekend, and a new edition of the music mode Fortnite Festival along with it. And it's gotten a tremendous headliner for players to invest in. The reactions to the announcement of LISA being this season's headliner have been across the spectrum. For every excited fan in the know there's been another person who genuinely wasn't aware of who she was, and then sadly some others who like to wear their sexism or xenophobia proudly. [Hidden Content] I wasn't fully aware of who LISA was either, before this year. I knew of her vaguely. And then the social media algorithm put her front and center and put me in an absolute chokehold that's sent me on a wild new adventure when it comes to fandom and music enjoyment. If it wasn't clips of her Hot Ones interview or her song with Doja Cat and Raye, it was her acting debut on HBO. LISA was everywhere. And so, finally, I gave in. I saw that her group Blackpink was coming to my area at the end of July and so I started listening to her and the group's music. I took my girlfriend to the show that summer, and was absolutely blown away by her and the group, and I've been hooked ever since. Over the past five or so months, I have become a LISA fan (we're called Lilies) and Blackpink fan (we're called Blinks), and so when I saw the Fortnite announcement this weekend, I just about screamed. But then I saw the negativity surrounding the news (wholly unsurprising), and it annoyed me. Within the noise, though, there were many people who genuinely and earnestly were not in the know about who she is or why she is so relevant. That's why I'm here today, to give a quick ****** course on who LISA is and why she's a perfect pick for Fortnite Festival. Who is LISA? Fortnite Festival headliner Image via Epic Games To put it simply, the Thailand-born LISA is one of the most influential celebrities in the entire world in 2025. She is one of the members of the most popular K-pop girl group in the world, Blackpink, and a solo musician as well. Even if you haven't heard of LISA, you've likely heard of Blackpink. Since debuting in 2016, Blackpink has grown massively in popularity and global superstardom. They are the most-streamed female group on Spotify, and most-viewed music group channel on YouTube where the ********* has over 99 million subscribers. As a group and individual acts they have won many awards and accolades, and are some of the most successful musicians in the world in recent years. Over the past year or so, LISA has begun to branch out into a solo career, as have her groupmates Rosé (of three-time Grammy-nominated song "APT" fame with Bruno Mars), Jennie, and Jisoo. Now at 28 years old, LISA is ready to supplement her Blackpink success with a solo endeavor that's just getting started. She launched her first solo album, Alter Ego, in February, and a new Blackpink song "JUMP" in July. The group has been selling out stadiums on its DEADLINE world tour since July, across North America, Europe, and Asia (all four girls play some of their solo songs as part of the setlists). And now, she's bringing her talents and influence to Fortnite Festival. Boasting over 140 million followers on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube combined, when LISA posts about something, people are guaranteed to pay attention. It's reported that with her following, LISA earns upwards of $1.6 million per post on IG, and around $750,000 per IG story, because she just has that big of an influence on those who follow her. Her audience is massive. Blackpink in 2025. From L-R: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. Image via Spotify You know that whole Labubu craze that's taken hold over the past year or so? A lot of the hype and popularity can be traced back to LISA who was an early adopter of the funny-looking POP MART dolls. She even dressed up as a Labubu for one of Blackpink's London concerts this summer. A few months ago, LISA posted a photo of a matcha drink from a chain called Heytea, and demand for the beverage skyrocketed. The chain even crafted a special drink in her honor. Whatever she does or posts about online is influential and carries a lot of weight and consumer potential. Epic Games knows this. LISA's Fortnite Festival pass and store bundles will sell very well, because she is one of the most marketable and lucrative names and faces in all of music and entertainment right now, whether you knew her before today or not. LISA's reach previously stemmed from mostly Asia, as the Thailand-born rapper/singer/dancer debuted with Blackpink in South Korea. But since then, she and the group have gone global, and she's not just restricting herself to music either. Earlier this year, she made her acting debut in season three of The White Lotus on HBO, and I and many others felt enamored with her in every scene she appeared in. LISA is soon to be a worldwide household name with how hard she's worked and how big she has become, and she's not stopping any time soon. She recently signed with WME for acting representation and Wasserman Music for solo touring representation. She's been connected to numerous future acting projects, including a potential new Netflix film. She's been named the official ambassador for the Tourism Authority of Thailand. She still has Blackpink DEADLINE tour dates on the calendar. And now she's in Fortnite, which may be the biggest fame indicator there is. This weekend, she'll join the Fortnite Festival headliner ranks of such superstars as Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Sabrina Carpenter, Snoop Dogg, Karol G, Metallica, Hatsune Miku, and Gorillaz as the only acts to take center stage in the mode. That's good company, and she more than deserves it. Lisa as Mook in season 3 of The White Lotus. Image via HBO Whether you like her inclusion in the game or not is irrelevant. She's coming for the crown in all forms of entertainment, and I and other Lilies will be cheering her on along the way. The post If you don’t know who Fortnite Festival’s LISA is, you’re not alone. But soon, the entire world will be aware appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

  10. We’ve officially entered the week of ****** Friday. Pretty much every retailer under the sun has already unleashed a whole bunch of deals, so there’s no reason to wait to do your holiday shopping. If you or someone on your list is into Sonic the Hedgehog video games, you’re in luck: a bunch of them are on ***** across the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox. Here’s a rundown of every Sonic game that’s already on ***** for ****** Friday 2025. Sonic Games - ****** Friday Deals There’s no shortage of Sonic game deals for ****** Friday. Here’s the full list. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds The newest game on the list is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Amazon), a kart racer with enough speed and new ideas that many think is actually better than Mario Kart World. In her review, Jada Griffin wrote, “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds fires on all cylinders with a fantastic roster of 24 of my favorite hedgehogs, foxes, echidnas, and more. The lineup of 24 main tracks and 15 Crossworld tracks is the best designed selection we've ever gotten in any Sonic racing game, and there is a generationally great soundtrack to accompany them. The racing itself feels fast, fantastic, and intuitive, with lots of options to tweak your stats to your preferred playstyle.” Sonic Superstars If price is your main consideration, you can’t beat Sonic Superstars, a throwback side-scrolling platformer you can pick up for less than $10 at Amazon. That’s a killer deal on a game about which the very same Jada Griffin, in her review, said, “Most Sonic games put the pedal to the metal, having you travel at blindingly fast speeds while avoiding hazards on your way to the goal. Unlike its predecessors, however, Sonic Superstars trades that traditional breakneck pace for new abilities, more exploration, multiple mini-games, and slightly more challenging bosses. Most of that stylistic shift works well for the majority of Superstars’ roughly 15-hour multi-campaign story.” Sonic X Shadow Generations In addition to those, you can pick up the excellent 2024 game Sonic X Shadow Generations for the new all-time low price of $24.99 at Amazon. That’s for all consoles, including Switch 2. This game is comprised of two parts. One is a remake of the 2011 game Sonic Generations, and the other is a brand-new Shadow-centered addition. It adds up to a killer package we gave 9/10 in our review. Sonic is far from the only game series getting ****** Friday discounts. Tons of other PS5, Xbox, and Switch games, consoles, and accessories have gotten discounts. Or you can check out the ****** Friday sales at Amazon, Best Buy, or Target. And remember, this is only the beginning of the ****** Friday season. More deals will go live on the day itself, November 28, and even more on Cyber Monday, which lands on December 1. However, we can anticipate based on the previous two seasons. All rewards should be available in the Season Pass, which will come in two versions. You can enjoy the free version available to all, or spend your coins/FC points to get the premium version (which offers more rewards). It will be interesting to see which cards and rewards we get with the season pass. With the Thunderstruck promo coming soon, the new pass could feature cards from that campaign. There's always a chance a few leaks will pop up before the season goes live. To earn rewards, we will need to get SP by completing objectives released throughout the new season. 14. Minecraft has reigned supreme over a niche genre that it essentially made. It drew the lines in its own sand and stayed there for over a decade, with no one being the wiser. But now, with a game rising from the ashes like a phoenix, Minecraft could finally get some real competition. Enter: Hytale, the game Riot Games purchased, killed, and then sold back to its original owners. It has gone through a decade of ups and downs, five years at Riot Games, and is now in the hands of those who initially created it. And in this entire decade, it's never been closer to release than it is now, or so says Simon Collins-Laflamme, the creator of Hypixel and Hytale, who is now leading development. From videos released by Hypixel over the past few days, we can determine that Hytale is not fooling around. It has significantly expanded combat, movement, and mechanics over Minecraft, and appears to be an overall upgraded and modernized version of Notch's masterpiece. And that tracks with Hytale itself evolving out of Minecraft, first as the wildly popular Hypixel server, and now as a standalone game. I'm genuinely hyped for a Minecraft-style game for the first time ever. Image via Hypixel Though many thought the game would never see the light of day after entering a state of limbo while handled by Riot Games, Hytale now has a real chance to shake up the foundations laid by Minecraft for, well, itself. It has been the sole game in this niche voxel-based survival crafting genre and, while there have been notable attempts at taking over some of its market share, it's remained a dominant force in gaming for well over a decade. A prominent example is A Vintage Story, which takes liberal inspiration from Minecraft, but makes the game much more challenging and focused on the survival aspect, complicating everything that was streamlined in the latter. Of course, this adds loads of depth and mechanical intricacy to the game, but it does largely alienate a more casual, laid-back, and, most importantly, young audience. With over 230 million copies sold across basically every imaginable platform, Minecraft is also the best-selling game of all time, which is a title hardly any game will be able to beat. But Hytale stands to shift the tides. The depth could be a great middle ground between A Vintage Story and Minecraft itself. Image via Hypixel Studios Naturally, I do not expect (nor should anyone, really) that Hytale will dethrone Minecraft. The latter has become somewhat of a cultural cornerstone in gaming and a title on which many of us have been brought up. Everyone and their dad had a squad of friends way back when making a new survival server, playing until they got bored, and leaving the game for a year before repeating the process. It's a shrine, a temple we all go back to every once in a while to reminisce about the good old days. But what Hytale can do is provide an alternative. A better, more complex, more detailed, and more, well, fun experience that takes what Minecraft has done and ups the ante in every imaginable way. By inviting the community to pitch ideas and help develop them, Hypixel is also involving the players on a scale never seen in Minecraft, and the low $19.99 price, alongside no charges for servers for at least two years, will substantially expand the community side of things and speed up Hytale's establishment as the go-to co-op survival crafting game. This is an uphill battle, and it remains to be seen how Hytale will go about it. What I'm sure of is that, based on just how popular the game already is without even being released, the market, and this niche Minecraft-adjacent genre, are in for an earthquake. And, as always, that can only lead to good things for the player. More competition means more development, innovation, and progress, and God knows Minecraft needs all of that. The post Minecraft might finally get the competitor the industry so desperately needs appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

  16. Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Sam Eng have announced their celestial skateboarding game, Skate Story, is launching day one for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on PlayStation 5. News of the bonus for Sony’s gaming subscription service was unveiled in a PlayStation.Blog post today. It’s a last-minute addition to Skate Story’s launch lineup, which includes PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2. PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will have access to the trippy skateboarding game at no extra cost come December 8. Sony has yet to reveal the rest of its upcoming Game Catalog additions for December 2025, with its PS Plus Essential monthly games also under wraps for now. Skate Story, meanwhile, was announced by Devolver Digital and Eng back in 2022 as an action skateboarding game with a cosmic twist. Its official description teases that players will step into the shiny shoes of an underworld ****** made entirely of “glass and pain.” The adventure begins when the ****** gives this sparkling creature a skateboard and one simple task: “Skate to the Moon and wallow it – and you shall be freed.” “Skate fast to destroy vicious demons, help a forgetful frog, and save other tortured souls on your journey from fragile beginner to hardened skater,” the description says. “Push through hell and discover The ******’s greatest weakness: humility, perseverance, and a disgustingly sweet backside tailslide.” The wait for Skate Story has been long, but not without updates. Charlie Wacholz went hands-on with it for IGN last year and said they were excited about its “promising story, absorbing vibe, and responsive skating controls.” Skate Story was also recognized by the 2024 Tribeca Festival. We’ll know more about the experience Devolver Digital and Eng are spinning up when Skate Story launches for PC, PS5, and Switch 2, as well as PS Plus, in a few weeks. In the meantime, PS Plus subscribers can see which games joined the Game Catalog and Essential list for November 2025 and prepare for December 2025 with a list of every game leaving the service. Sony typically waits to reveal which Essential games it’s adding until closer to the end of the month, so be sure to stay tuned for updates. Michael Cripe is a freelance writer with IGN. 20. It’s officially release day for action RPG Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, which puts you in control of the limitless potential of series star Sung Jinwoo. It’s available now on Steam and Xbox PC. The game takes place in the world of the globally popular Solo Leveling franchise, where supernaturally powerful Hunters fight to protect humanity from invading monsters. Most Hunters have fixed power levels, but Sung Jinwoo is unique: he can level up. And he’s on a mission to become the world’s strongest Hunter and the Ultimate Monarch of Shadows. You can guide him through that mission in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE’s Story Mode, which includes an adaptation of the original story as well as new adventures that are unique to the game. You can customize his appearance, abilities, and play style through the course of the story. His biggest strength is his versatility. He can learn just about anything and is constantly growing and evolving. Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE puts you in charge of determining that growth, including four initial job choices and a skill tree that allows for flexibility in creating your own playstyle. He can wield several different types of weapons, and you’re able to swap between them on the fly to chain attacks together and build combos. There are also timing-based parries and dodges you can use to cancel or avoid damage and then unleash counterattacks to keep the pace of combat flowing. Your play style will change depending on the combination of weapons and skills you choose, giving you the opportunity to test a lot of different styles and seeing what suits you. And by charging the Monarch’s Awakening gauge, Sung Jinwoo can transform into his Shadow Monarch form, which has a completely different set of skills to use against enemies. Sung Jinwoo might be the protagonist, but he’s not the only character you can play as. You’ll recruit other Hunters that fans of the Solo Leveling series will recognize, each with their own personalities and powers, and you can play as them in certain Hunter dungeons. You can also join up to three friends in co-op raids that will see you face off with some of the toughest commanders from the series. In those raids, you can play as either Jinwoo or one of the other available Hunters, and they all have their own skill set and attack patterns to master. The Story Mode and multiplayer content of Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are both included in the base purchase price of $39.99, which is available now in full on Steam and Xbox PC. The game is also scheduled for release on consoles in 2026. For the latest news and updates, you can check out the game’s official website or follow it on Twitter, Facebook, Discord, and YouTube.
