In the latest Apex Legends dev update, game director Steven Ferreira addressed anti-cheat and the recent decision to ban Linux players from accessing the game. This ban impacted Steam Deck users, taking the game from Verified to Unsupported, but Respawn is "pleased to report" that the controversial move is playing out as expected so far thanks to a "meaningful reduction" in instances of cheating being identified. Apex Legends was once one of the most played games each month on the best handheld gaming PC, but with the introduction of the Linux block a few months ago, Steam Deck owners can no longer access the game without dual-booting their device. As a result, Apex Legends has long since fallen out of the monthly top 100 games list. Read the rest of the story... What is the best BO6 Cypher 091 loadout? It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that firing more bullets is a good thing, and it can be, so long as your rounds hit their intended target. The Cypher 091 is proof that speed isn't the most important factor; this assault rifle offers high damage and high controllability with a medium rate of fire, making it a great all-rounder for those who enjoy a pragmatic approach to combat. On paper, it may seem like the Cypher 091 is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none; our loadout, however, not only adds additional recoil control, but we've extended the range and bullet velocity for the battle royale mode, making distance targets easier to pin down. The Cypher 091 is a force to be reckoned with in ****** Ops 6, too, with a fast ADS time and TTK - it's getting up there with the best BO6 weapons you can use right now. Read the rest of the story... Hi-Rez Studios have laid off an unknown number of the studio's employees, only one month after launching MOBA sequel Smite 2 as a free-to-play beta. It looks like management has cut at least 20-30 jobs and the full number is likely higher. As a result, three other games that have been long-running staples of the studio will no longer get any updates. Smite, Paladins, and Rogue Company will have nobody to man the code cannons, so they're being left to gather cobwebs from now on. Although they will remain playable. Read more View the full article

Crownfall is finally over after its elongated 10-month runtime, and Dota 2 players are gasping for the next thing to sink their teeth into, as it’s been quite a while since the last time Valve dropped a gameplay update. Last night’s Crownfall Archive update, as it says on the tin, archives the four-acts-long event. But, contrary to what many had hoped for from a large number of staging updates visible on Dota 2’s SteamDB page, it didn’t accompany a gameplay patch or another similar event replacing Crownfall immediately. Naturally, players starving for content have now latched onto the singular piece of hint that Valve left in the Crownfall Archive blogpost: “It’s time for us to…point our compasses at some new guiding stars.” View the full article
Civilization 7 was always going to struggle. Compared to Civ 6, and, in fact, the rest of Firaxis' defining 4X series, it feels a lot leaner, trimmer, and more streamlined - the big changes to combat and the new Ages are going to bother some long-time fans, and the weight of expectation, especially in the age of Manor Lords, Stellaris, and Endless Space, is extremely large. It is different. But there's a great game in here. Nevertheless, the initial Civilization 7 Steam launch is not going well. Only 47% of reviews are positive. Firaxis is aware of the problems and has issued a statement about how it plans to make Civ 7 better. Read the rest of the story...
