  1. It's the year 2000 all over again, because I've just spent the past week playing The Sims, a game that could have had a resurgent zeitgeist moment if only EA, the infamous game publisher, had put enough effort in. A few days ago, EA re-released two of its most legendary games: The Sims and The Sims 2. Dubbed the "The Legacy Collection," these could not even be called remasters. EA just put the original games on Steam with some minor patches to make them a little more likely to work on some modern machines. The emphasis of that sentence should be on the word "some." Forums and Reddit threads were flooded with players saying the game either wouldn't launch at all, crashed shortly after launch, or had debilitating graphical issues. (Patches have been happening, but there's work to be done yet.) Read full article Comments View the full article
  2. A Skyrim player has shared a screenshot in which they're attacked by three identical bandits outside Bleak Falls Barrow. If gamers play enough Skyrim, they're bound to encounter duplicate NPCs, but this rare occurrence could be the only time a player has seen three at once. View the full article
  3. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has finally launched on PC and several consoles, including Valve’s Steam Deck. Despite the handheld being the weakest console the game has launched on, you still can get a lot of mileage out of it. However, getting the best settings for the best experience can be tricky. Here are the best settings for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and how the game runs on Steam Deck. View the full article

  5. Delves, World of Warcraft's latest end-game pillar, are seeing a bit of a philosophical shift in the 11.1 PTR (Public Test Realm). Delves were created to offer more casual and solo players a game-mode with both progression and challenge in The War Within and beyond. However, delves were perhaps too challenging for that subset of players, particularly regarding pure numbers and gear level. WoW recommends for the penultimate challenge, Zekvir, a 623 item level (ilvl), which is itself only obtainable outside delve content. View the full article

  9. There are a lot of Cooking Stations to unlock in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, each of which has a number of dedicated recipes that can be cooked. The Egg Pan Station is a Cooking Station that’s unlocked towards the later stages of a playthrough, and it’s definitely worth working towards. The Egg Pan Station in Island Adventure is specifically dedicated to sweet Crepes and Omelets, which shouldn't come as a surprise when you consider what this station actually is. If you want to know how to unlock, upgrade, or use the Egg Pan Station, here's everything you need to know. How to unlock the Egg Pan Station in Hello Kitty Island Adventure Screenshot by Destructoid Unlocking the Egg Pan Station is mostly done through Pekkle and a frustrating search for Rockadoodles. To unlock it, you'll need to complete the following objectives: Complete the “Open the Nature Preserve” quest Find Pekkle and level up your friendship with him to level 8 Complete the “Rockadoodle Round Up” Once you’ve done that, a new Around the Island quest will appear called “An Egg-cellent Plan.” Completing this quest will unlock the Egg Pan Station, which you’ll find located close to the Rockadoodler Corral in Gemstone Mountain. How to upgrade the Egg Pan Station in Hello Kitty Island Adventure Screenshot by Destructoid The Egg Pan Station uses Eggs as its main ingredient. Once you unlock the Station itself, you’ll be able to add one additional ingredient to cook various recipes. However, you’ll want to work towards upgrading the Egg Pan Station, because this unlocks the ability to add a second additional ingredient, so you can make even more recipes. Unfortunately, upgrading the Egg Pan Station can end up being pretty frustrating. While upgrading the other Cooking Stations in Island Adventure is almost completely done through leveling up friendships with villagers, the Egg Pan Station is different. To level up the Egg Pan Station, you’ll need to find and photograph 102 individual Gudetamas. The lazy egg can be found in various locations across the map, with 96 to find in the early-game areas and further ones to discover in the late-game, like Merry Meadow and Cloud Islands. Even if you find Tophat Gudetama each week, he doesn't count towards your total. Once you’ve taken 102 Gudetama photos, interact with the Gudetama Board in Seaside Resort to upgrade the Egg Pan Station and unlock that precious second additional ingredient. All Egg Pan Recipes in Hello Kitty Island Adventure Screenshot by Destructoid To make this easier to navigate, let’s split this into one-ingredient and two-ingredient recipes. Two ingredient recipes will only become available to make once you’ve upgraded the Egg Pan Station. All recipes require one egg alongside the noted ingredient(s). 10. The dangers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's world poses a huge threat to Henry, especially if you're walking on foot. That's why it's crucial to have trusty steed at your side to ease the stress of travel. We'll show you the best horse in KCD2 to set you up for success. KCD2's best horse and location Since every steed has advantages and disadvantages, it's hard to pick one choice for the best horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. While some excel in stamina, others cater more towards capacity, so it all depends on what you prefer. To cover both the Trosky and Kuttenberg regions, here's a list of the best horses and what they excel in: Best ForHorse NameWhere to GetBest early game horse PebblesSemine Horse Trader in TroskyBest free horseHerringComplete the From Whom the Bells Tolls quest. Talk to Lord von Bergow and the Hired Hand Kabat to receive the horse for free.Best horse in TroskyBronkaVon Bergow's ambushed men POI near SemineBest for stamina and speedKincsemPurchase from Groom Hanniker trader in KuttenbergBest capacity and courageErdelPurchase from Groom Hashtalin in Maleshov (Kuttenburg) The best horses in the game primarily reside in the second map, the Kuttenberg region, which can take a while to unlock. Luckily, there are still a few steeds in the starter Trosky region, with the old reliable Pebbles and the mysterious Herring. Although Pebbles' stats aren't that great initially, you'll see her worth the more you upgrade her over time. Plus, this horse is a nice callback to the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance story as one of the free steeds. Unlike the other horses on this list, the Herring is one of the only free horses in KCD2. It'll be a part of the From Whom the Bells Tolls quest after you find a way to get into the wedding. If you're looking for another horse in Trosky, you can steal Bronka in Von Bergow's ambushed men POI to the right of Semine. Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid Considering that it'll be a stolen horse, you must go to the Nomad Camp, towards the left side of Semine. Speak to Horse handler Mikolai to claim ownership of Herring. Screenshot by Destructoid Screenshot by Destructoid Use any of these horses to work your way to the second map. Then, you can buy the speedster Kincsem in the heart of Kuttenberg or high capacity Erdel in Maleshov. Keep in mind that there isn't an exact price for each steed since you can haggle the traders for a lower purchase. Depending on how the haggling goes, they usually go for 2,000 to 4,000 Groschen. Affording those prices will certainly be difficult, and you can check out our guide on how to make Groschen fast for money tips. All best horse stats in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 If you're curious about the stats of these best horses, here's a list of what you can expect (shout to YouTuber NorZZa for compiling an extensive list of horse stats): HorseStaminaCapacitySpeedCouragePebbles1271383012Herring1691383414Bronka152158528Kincsem235138605Erdel1403684830 As you can see, the horses with superb stats in one category can take a hit with others. For instance, Kincsem does well in speed and stamina but not in capacity and courage. However, stats can improve, primarily if you unlock the Red Herring perk for the free horse. There may also be more horses out there that have yet to be discovered, giving you a ton more options for your traveling companion. 11. As popular a competitive title as VALORANT is, it’s no surprise players try to emulate the cool plays pros pull off. Even if those plays are genius because they’re so stupid. That’s how we get plays like one today from Team Vitality’s Derke, one of the best Duelist players in the world over the past several VCT seasons. Playing in the upper bracket final of the EMEA kick-off event, Derke pulled out his Yoru for Haven against last year’s VALORANT Champions runners-up. After Vitality took the first two rounds on attack against Heretics, the team pulled up for their bonus round attacking the C site, and Derke made one of the more unexpected decisions of the game: He simply walked down the middle of C long and right onto site without any smokes or flashes for cover, directly in line of sight of Heretics’ benjyfishy and Boo. That should be a death sentence for a Gold player, let alone someone playing at the highest level. View the full article

  16. While the movie adaptation may have been regrettable, the videogame version of World War Z is a genuine credit to the excellent novel by Max Brooks. The experience pits groups of up to four players against hordes of zombies in a gruesome, explosive maelstrom. It's a lot more fun than the film, and at a historically low price, easily worth a purchase if you're into the walking dead. Read the rest of the story... 19. Although I love playing my guitar whenever I get the chance, some of my favorite memories with a guitar are actually Rock Band memories. There's something so satisfying about holding a guitar controller and feeling like I'm actually playing songs that I would never dream of playing on a real guitar. While my own Rock Band days ended a long time ago, the music goes on with the likes of Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival. And if you want to keep playing those games or get back into them, PDP released a new wireless guitar controller just last year that can help you do that. It's pretty expensive, but Amazon has just dropped the price to a new low with a 20% discount. PDP Riffmaster Wireless Guitar Controller ***** When this controller first came out back in May 2024, it sold out very quickly. This is largely because there just aren't really any new guitar controller options available outside of this one. The compatibility with Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival allow new and old players to experience an upgrade that feels more in line with modern controllers. While it is normally priced at $129.99, the discount Amazon is running right now drops that down to $104. This is the lowest-ever price we've seen on Amazon for the PlayStation compatible version of this controller, and likely the lowest one we'll see until sales events later in the year. What we said in our review IGN's own Luke Reilly reviewed the PDP Riffmaster Wireless Guitar last year when it first came out and and gave it a 9 out of 10. Here's a quick synopsis of what he thought of the controller: "The PDP Riffmaster Wireless Guitar Controller is the definition of niche – a plastic guitar peripheral designed for a total of two games, one of which was released in 2015. It’s also no cheap trick, by any stretch; US buyers won’t get a nickel back from a cool 130 bucks. It’s similarly expensive in Europe, and steeper still down under. On the Mr. Brightside, however, it is a terrific bit of kit with excellent button feel, extremely impressive battery life, some very sensible quality-of-life tweaks over the original bundled Rock Band guitars, and some smart storage functions. It is the best way to shred on Rock Band 4, and it’s certainly the intended way to finesse the frets on Fortnite Festival if that’s your scene. Whether you’re looking for a replacement for a creaky old Stratocaster – or something that may rejuvenate your love affair with the best rhythm game platform around – for those about to shop, we salute you." [/url] While this is a fairly unique controller, it's the overall best PS5 controller you can buy if you're looking to play Rock Band 4 or Fortnite Festival on your PS5 or PS4. If you're interested in more PS5 accessories, however, we've gathered some below. View the full article
  20. Sid Meier's Civilization 7features a mix-and-match system that lets you choose which civilization you want to play as during the three distinct Ages. Not all of these civilizations will be available after selecting an initial civilization during game setup, though. Depending on which Civ a player chooses for the Civ 7 Antiquity Age, options for the Exploration and Modern Ages are limited to some extent; only a few become automatically available based on the geographic or historical thread that ties them to the player's initial choice (i.e. the Han, Ming, and Qing path). 21. The original The Simsgame and its expansion packs gave players a unique opportunity to create and customize their own virtual world. Building houses and managing the lives of digital characters were the main activities, but celebrity cameos were also an unexpected twist. These were not just hidden Easter eggs; some celebrities were actually part of the gameplay. They built upon the game and gave players a feeling that The Sims was hip to pop culture. 22. Civilization 7 offers a plethora of options to customize each of your playthroughs, including the map you play. However, that choice was simplified when compared to the previous games in the series. Exploring your map and expanding your empire wouldn’t be possible without landmass to discover. Luckily, that’s a subject to change. Here’s everything you need to know about Civ 7‘s map types. View the full article
