  1. It's been almost a month since Deadlock's last notable update, with Valve recently reducing the frequency of changes to its third-person MOBA to 'improve' its design process. 5. With the addition of Marvel Rivals season 1.5 last Feb. 21, new gallery cards are gradually becoming available. While they mostly explore the current story, one pretty much confirmed the setting of the next season. The third gallery card, unlockable via the event page in Marvel Rivals Midnight Features II, is named “Plans Within Plans.” It further expands on the current story while finishing with an ambiguous sentence that hints at season two’s narrative and possibly its heroes. This will likely be the Hellfire Gala, with Emma Frost being one of the two new characters. View the full article
  6. The requirements for your PC to feast on the treefrogs of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater tactical espionage action have been revealed. The minimum specs ask for a RTX 2060 Super, same as The Great Troy Bake Off. While this might sound like Delta is following the likes of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle and Star Wars Outlaws in requiring ray tracing, producer Noriaki Okamura told Eurogamer last year that no ray tracing features are included - so the RTX requirement is likely down to Unreal 5's Lumen lighting tech (although that can include ray tracing techniques anyway.) You can find the full requirements below and on Steam here, in a notably less attractive font than classic Rock Paper Sans. Read more View the full article

  13. Grabbing eagerly onto every shred of information, hoping against hope that this time, no, this time, Half-Life 3 might actually be real. I've been doing this for 18 years, ever since the credits rolled on Half-Life 2 Episode Two, and like, I imagine, everyone reading this, I'm tired. I want to crawl into a Gordon Freeman-y stasis sleep - wake me up when Half-Life 3 actually happens. On the contrary, I still get a buzz whenever a fresh hint about HL3 slips into the gossip mill. You've likely heard of Half-Life X, the supposed codename for whatever it is Valve is working on. Based on some new, hidden code strings, there's reason to believe HLX - which could well be Half-Life 3 - is already in the optimization stage. Read the rest of the story... 17. Yesterday’s shock news that Warner Bros. had shut down three studios and canceled its Wonder Woman game sent shockwaves throughout the industry and the gaming community at large. And as the dust settles on yet another devastating round of cuts, fans of Monolith Productions’ much-loved Nemesis System are lamenting its "wasted potential." The Nemesis System began life as part of Monolith’s well-received 2014 action adventure game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. It fuels randomly named enemies in Sauron's army that are generated uniquely with each playthrough of the game. Each nemesis has their own personality and will rise or fall within their social structure as the game progresses. They are affected by protagonist Talion's actions, and each will react differently to Talion's incursion into Mordor, be it fight, flight, or some other reaction. With 2017 sequel Shadow of War, Monolith sought to improve upon its Nemesis system by increasing the variety of emergent stories and their emotional impact. Warner Bros. had confirmed the Nemesis System was set to return for Monolith’s Wonder Woman game, although it was light on the details. Announced in December 2021 with a brief teaser trailer and description, Wonder Woman was a single-player action adventure set in a “dynamic” open-world in which players became Diana of Themyscira in an original story set within the DC universe. With Monolith’s closure, only two games will have made use of the Nemesis system, a fact not lost on fans who are already pointing to the end of Warner Bros. vice-like grip on the Nemesis system patent. >WBG patents the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor in 2021. Makes it so no other game company can use a similar system >Annouces a Wonder Woman the same year >No info for 4 years >Cancels the game by shutting down the studio making it [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] — Outsid3r (@MrOutsid3r) February 25, 2025 "I don't understand one iota how WB handled this Nemesis System debacle," said redditor birminghamsterwheel. "Two games, the last being eight years ago, and nothing else? Not giving it to any of your other studios? Not licensing it out? WTF?" Warner Bros. only managed to secure the Nemesis System patent in 2021 after its application was filed in 2016, with an adjusted expiration of August 11, 2036. The patent, filed as “Nemesis characters, nemesis forts, social vendettas and followers in computer games,” effectively codifies the functions of Monolith’s Nemesis system and the sum of its parts as the property of Warner Bros. While the language in the application is fairly obtuse — as most patent claims tend to be — the short version is that the patent covers a system featuring procedurally-generated NPCs that exist in a hierarchy and interact with and will remember the actions of players, have their appearance/behavior altered by players, and whose place in that hierarchy can change and affect the position of other NPCs in said hierarchy. It also covers the Social Conquest battles from Shadow of War, wherein players can fortify or attack one another’s strongholds to see how their army of orcs fares against their friends’. The biggest sin of Monolith Productions getting the ax is that we will never see the nemesis system ever again in any game due to the patent [Hidden Content] — 𝕵𝖔𝖘𝖍 (@BloodShotKatana) February 25, 2025 Warner Bros. had tried to secure the patent for the system since 2015, but had to repeatedly revise and resubmit the application. Initial rejections claimed that there were too many similarities in the application to other patents, including those held by Square Enix, the mobile game QONQR, and even Webkinz, though more rejections were more focused on the specificity of language throughout the patent. The patent means any developer wishing to build a feature with all the aspects detailed in the patent (or at least enough to be considered infringement) would have to secure a license from Warner Bros. Developers are able to create similar systems that aren’t a 1:1 recreation of Monolith’s program, however. The Mercenaries in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or Watch Dogs Legion’s Census system are examples of dynamically-generated NPCs and social networks that were not met with a legal challenge. After making two incredible Middle-earth games, and developing an entirely unique “nemesis system” for them, an entire studio is shuttered seemingly because of factors and failures outside their control. What a tragic waste. I hope these talented folks find a new home soon. [Hidden Content] — Bear McCreary (@bearmccreary) February 26, 2025 But what happens now? With no Monolith around to use the Nemesis system and its Wonder Woman game canceled, there are fears Warner Bros.’ Nemesis patent will simply act as a deterrent until 2036 and go unused for another decade. It wasn’t just Monolith and Wonder Women that were cut. Warner Bros. also shut down MultiVersus developer Player First Games and WB San Diego. Here’s Warner Bros.’ statement: We have had to make some very difficult decisions to structure our development studios and investments around building the best games possible with our key franchises — Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC and Game of Thrones. After careful consideration, we are closing three of our development studios — Monolith Productions, Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. This is a strategic change in direction and not a reflection of these teams or the talent that consists within them. The development of Monolith’s Wonder Woman videogame will not move forward. Our hope was to give players and fans the highest quality experience possible for the iconic character, and unfortunately this is no longer possible within our strategic priorities. This is another tough decision, as we recognize Monolith’s storied history of delivering epic fan experiences through amazing games. We greatly admire the passion of the three teams and thank every employee for their contributions. As difficult as today is, we remain focused on and excited about getting back to producing high-quality games for our passionate fans and developed by our world class studios and getting our Games business back to profitability and growth in 2025 and beyond. Create the Nemesis system for video games Everyone loves it Refuse to allow anyone else to use it Never use it again Shut down a bunch of your game developers *******’ bravo WB — Aeon Penenko ⓸ (@AeonPeneko) February 25, 2025 These shutdowns continue a trend going back roughly three years of increasing games industry layoffs, project cancellations, and studio closures. In 2023 alone, it's estimated that over 10,000 game developers were laid off. That number shot up to over 14,000 in 2024, and while 2025 has seen numerous closures, the exact number of impacted individuals is hazier due to fewer companies reporting these layoffs and shutdowns, or specific numbers affected. 19. Not to be confused with Families that offer passive bonuses, Clans in Ninja Time offer unique active abilities that you can use. Some of the best ones are the variations of the Red Eyes clan but there are also other sleeper hits and some underpowered options. You can take a look at them all in our Ninja Time Clans tier list. Table of contentsAll Clans in Ninja Time RankedS Tier ClansA Tier ClansB Tier ClansC Tier ClansD Tier Clans All Clans in Ninja Time Ranked Image by Destructoid I'll be rating all Clans in Ninja Time including all variations of the Red Eyes from S-Tier to C-Tier. In S-Tier you'll find the most overpowered options with the right build and A-Tier are close seconds. B-Tier are strong options if you don't manage to roll something from the higher Tiers. Lastly, C-Tier options are too stat-dependent and D-Tier options are straight-up underpowered and need a rework. You can roll for different Clans in the Spins tab from the Main Menu using our Ninja Time codes. S Tier Clans ClanRarityRanking Reason Purple EyesDivine 0.05%The Purple Eyes are slightly similar to Fighter in the sense that you have to be dedicated to the Genjutsu stat for it to reach its true potential since all moves scale with Genjutsu. On the bright side, it's got incredible base damage so even if you don't go full Genjutsu you're still dealing a lot of burst damage unlike Fighter. It's one of the best Clans in the game along with certain Red Eye variations. Red Eyes - RavenMythical 1%It's one of the two best Genjutsu builds in the game along with Purple Eyes. Plus you get an amazing Susano form for melee combat. Red Eyes - TeleportMythical 1%Similar to Yellow Thunder, Teleporter needs practice but it becomes incredible in PVP with a Genjutsu build. That alt-move is incredibly powerful. You also get massive mobility and excellent utility/crowd control moves. Related: Ninja Time Families Tier List A Tier Clans ClanRarityRanking Reason Red Eyes - ****** FlamesMythical 1%The ****** Flames Red Eyes Clan variation is just an all-around great Clan option with a mix of damage and utility moves. It's much better overall than Meteor but it doesn't have any specifically overpowered move like Meteor. Red Eyes - MeteorMythical 1%The Meteor Red Eyes Clan is okay across the board but it gets carried by its ultimate Meteor move that just does so much damage in PVP and PVE that it belongs in A-Tier just for that. Get it for grinding and you'll save yourself a lot of time. Fighter (Taijutsu Build)Legendary 5%Fighter is the easiest S-Tier Clan if you're going full Taijutsu, a must-have. That said, if you're planning on using Elements it drops off drastically which is why I put two versions of it in the tier list. White EyesMythical 1%White Eyes is just an overall excellent melee option to have as backup to your Elements since it scales with Ninjutsu and it's more flexible than Fighter which only scales with Taijutsu. All the moves do really good damage and you even get some utility options as well. Yellow ThunderLegendary 5%Yellow Thunder is one of the hardest Clans to learn in the game but this skill-requirement pays off since it's incredibly powerful in PVP if you can master the mobility moves. Practice using the Kunai abilities to move and keep safe in boss fights. Plus it's the best for open-world travel. Red Eyes - IntangibleMythical 1%The Intangibile is my least favorite Red Eyes variation but it still gets Susano so it's a minimum of A-Tier. The reason I don't prefer it is that it focuses on pulling opponents in the Kamui realm for a 1v1. It's great if you're getting ganked or attacking an opponent you want to isolate, but it's not the best in PVE and if you're already fighting an opponent 1v1 in PVP then it does almost nothing. B Tier Clans ClanRarityRanking Reason BoneEpic 15%The Reason Bone is soo good besides doing decent damage is that you don't have to be straight point-blank in front of the boss to damage the boss. If you get caught in a boss' M1 stun-lock you're pretty much dead early on and Bone allows you to play safe. Excellent for beginners and pretty decent in PVP as well. BugRare 30%Bug has a lot of poison damage moves that you can stack on bosses so it's a pretty decent option for PVE. Overall not as powerful as A and S but I wouldn't reroll it if you starting out and you like Shino. C Tier Clans ClanRarityRanking Reason HealerCommon 48.5%The only reason this is good is for the Ninjutsu-scaling healer moves for sustain during PVP and PVE. Don't pick this up if you want the Taijutsu damage moves since it's better to use Fighter then. This is why Healer is in an awkward position because the two aspects of it scale with different stats and only the healing part is worth it. Fighter (Non-Taijutsu)Legendary 5%All the Fighter moves scale with Taijutsu so if you're going for Elements or a mix, it's quite underpowered since you need Ninjutsu to scale Elements. D Tier Clans ClanRarityRanking Reason ShadowRare 30%Overall, Shadow Clan is extremely underpowered. It's awkward to use and the abilities don't have good base damage and even thought he scaling is Ninjutsu, there are better options so reroll this. SoulCommon 48.5%Another underpowered option even if you have the Soul Family. There are just better options for your Clan slot. That's it for my Ninja Time clans tier list.
