  1. A recent Infinity Nikki chart has highlighted the number of Diamonds that players will be able to obtain in Version 1.3. At its heart, Infinity Nikki is an open-world adventure, with a focus on combat, exploration, and dressing up. The gacha elements of Infinity Nikki are all tied to the latter, as the game frequently pits players against other Stylists via Fashion Challenges. Whether by going up against the stylist factions of Miraland, or trying to win the Mira Crown, Nikki is encouraged to be properly dressed for any occasion, and in many cases, the best outfits can only be found on the banners. 3. Ruined Idol is a new in-game achievement for season 1.5 of Marvel Rivals. The description is rather vague and cryptic, and just says you need to destroy a statue, "When Eternal Night falls on New York." Thankfully, this can be completed in the new map, Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park. The only downside is it has to be done in Quick Play or Competitive, potentially taking attention away from taking the objective. You also need to be the first of the entire 12-person lobby to snag the achievement before anyone else. View the full article

  5. The original Pathologic is the textbook definition of a cult classic RPG. Not many people have played it, but anyone who has given it the time of day absolutely loves it. It's obtuse, frictional, and pushes back at you every step of the way, but persevering with the experience reveals a highly rewarding, haunting, and meta videogame you won't soon forget. With the sequel Pathologic 3 on the way, you'll soon be able to try the latest entry in the series via a new prologue. Read the rest of the story... 6. The opening hours of Monster Hunter Wilds are a shotgun blast of new information for returning hunters. Before I had even a handful of hunts under my belt, Capcom had dazzled me with cool quality-of-life upgrades like Seikrets, base camps, weapon holsters, makeshift camps, and seamless quest creation. 11. Super Mutants are as iconic in Fallout as deathclaws and Vault suits, but their appearance and behavior in Fallout 4 continued a trend that made me yearn for the earlier entries in the franchise. Appearing in every Fallout game since 1997, the hulking Super Mutants make for terrifying enemies as they barrel toward their targets, which sometimes means the best strategy is to run. However, newcomers to Fallout 4 might not realize that these giant brutes used to act very differently in prior installments. View the full article
  12. Warner Bros. is canceling its planned Wonder Woman game and shutting down three studios: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier. Schreier broke the news on Bluesky today, followed by the release of a full report on Bloomberg. Shortly after Schreier's post, WB confirmed the shut downs to Kotaku in a statement: We have had to make some very difficult decisions to structure our development studios and investments around building the best games possible with our key franchises -– Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC and Game of Thrones. After careful consideration, we are closing three of our development studios – Monolith Productions, Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. This is a strategic change in direction and not a reflection of these teams or the talent that consists within them. The development of Monolith’s Wonder Woman videogame will not move forward. Our hope was to give players and fans the highest quality experience possible for the iconic character, and unfortunately this is no longer possible within our strategic priorities. This is another tough decision, as we recognize Monolith’s storied history of delivering epic fan experiences through amazing games. We greatly admire the passion of the three teams and thank every employee for their contributions. As difficult as today is, we remain focused on and excited about getting back to producing high-quality games for our passionate fans and developed by our world class studios and getting our Games business back to profitability and growth in 2025 and beyond. Earlier this year, another Bloomberg report suggested Wonder Woman was in trouble after rebooting and switching directors in early 2024. This came amid larger struggles at the company's gaming division, including layoffs at Rocksteady, the lukewarm reception to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the shutdown of MultiVersus. And even more recently, WB Games has appeared to undergo a restructuring of sorts, as long-time games head David Haddad announced his departure from the company, and rumors circulated that the division might be sold off. Specifically, this move represents a blow to WB's DC universe-connected gaming efforts. Notably, just yesterday, James Gunn and Peter Safran said in a presentation that it would be "a couple of years" before the first DCU video game. With this closure, the games industry loses three incredibly storied studios. Monolith Productions, which had been working on Wonder Woman, was founded in 1994 and acquired by WB in 2004. It's best-known for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Shadow of War, the former of which pioneered the lauded Nemesis system that WB successfully patented in 2021. Player First Games, a newer studio established in 2019, was responsible for MultiVersus. The game was well-received critically and saw launch success, but underperformed relative to WB's expectations. WB San Diego, similarly, is a newer studio established in 2019 with a focus on mobile, free-to-play games. These shutdowns continue a trend going back roughly three years of increasing games industry layoffs, project cancellations, and studio closures. In 2023 alone, it's estimated that over 10,000 game developers were laid off. That number shot up to over 14,000 in 2024, and while 2025 has seen numerous closures, the exact number of impacted individuals is hazier due to fewer companies reporting these layoffs and shutdowns, or specific numbers affected. With a plethora of new characters introduced during each new update to the urban action RPG, HoYoverse has recently begun to feature its first re-run banners bringing back powerful limited cast members. Version 1.5 featured a pair of re-runs of two of the game's most popular units, with Ellen appearing during the first half and Qingyi during the second half. Now, the next set of re-run banners is being teased early. View the full article
  14. As announced previously, Riot Games has gone forward with its plan to put an end to the lane-swapping epidemic that has been spreading through casual and professional League like wildfire. After initially implementing the system, the company went ahead and expanded it with even more ridiculous mechanics. One of those is that turrets are now able to one-shot champions that trigger the lane-swapping detection system. Just a single hit and you’re gone, which is up from about two or three shots prior to these latest additions. Previously, only minions would get one-shot by turrets, with gold and XP they yield given to the nearest player without them having to actually land a hit of their own. There is also a very clear indicator that you are, in fact, partaking in lane swapping, and you’ll receive continuous messages notifying you to leave the lane immediately and avoid the wrath of Riot’s latest update. This all comes after Riot first introduced its anti-lane swapping system, aiming to stop massive ganks on top and mid in the early game, as well as to prevent controversial maneuvers where bot lane duos would go top as soon as the match starts to avoid a bad match-up. 21. In what feels like a neverending cascade of studio closures and cancellations in the industry of late, it appears Warner Bros. Games is following suit. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Warner Bros. has canceled the upcoming Wonder Woman game and will shut down three of its studios: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego. [Hidden Content] Despite the fact that we've not seen anything from the Wonder Woman game other than a simple teaser trailer since being announced over 3 years ago at The Game Awards, this is still quite a shock. The Wonder Woman developer Monolith Productions has created mostly absolute bangers since the studio was founded over three decades ago including Middle-earth Shadow of War and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor as well as the popular psychological horror FPS F.E.A.R. series. And, for sophisticated folks, they even developed The Matrix Online which let's be real, was ahead of its time. The other two studios that will be closed as part of Warner Bros. apparent restructuring are Player First Games, the team behind MultiVersus which recently announced its closure, and WB San Diego. According to reports, Wonder Woman has been in development for years and development costs have already surpassed more than $100 million. I'll never try to understand the complete inner workings of these corporate decisions but I would like to know what sort of state the game must have been in for Warner Bros. to opt to essentially throw away all the money that had been spent on it so far rather than getting it across the finish line. Especially from a talented and proven team like Monolith Productions. After losing more than 14,000 jobs in 2024 alone, the game industry continues to shrink each day. The closure of these three studios will likely place the count for 2025 at over 1,000. To say times are dark would be a massive understatement, and I hope things turn brighter sooner rather than later.
