  1. Arrowhead Game Studios' third-person action title Helldivers 2 is being review-bombed on Steam, and not for the first time in its history. The recent reviews for Helldivers 2have been brutal, although it's for a reason many fans will not expect. View the full article

  3. A few weeks ago I finally completed Baldur's Gate 3. I stood triumphant as I took down the Netherbrain, rolling a nat 20 on my dominate check, only for it to beat me down anyway. Ever since, I've been craving more Dungeons and Dragons-inspired goodness, dipping my toes into Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader and tentatively considering selling my soul to Neverwinter Nights. In my searches, however, Google threw up Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, the chaotic, tabletop-inspired Borderlands sequel that I remember being intrigued by. Now, the Epic Games Store has come to the rescue and saved me a few pretty pennies, because the game is currently going free. Read the rest of the story... 4. Ever since Games Workshop and Amazon announced they were teaming up to create an official Warhammer 40k TV series, with Henry Cavill in a starring role, I've been equally eager and apprehensive. How can a TV studio bring the insane scale of conflict in the 41st millennium to life, without blowing through its whole budget in the intro cinematic? A new animation, available via the Warhammer TV subscription service, offers many answers. Read the rest of the story... 6. Nintendo's Switch 2 has a small handful of new releases in its launch lineup, but for the first few months after its release, the main thing you'll be able to play on it will be your existing library of Switch games. And while Nintendo has promised reasonably comprehensive backward compatibility, the company is still working through the process of testing over 15,000 third-party Switch games with the new console. With a week to go until launch, Nintendo has updated its compatibility support page with the results of nearly two months of extra testing. Of the "over 15,000" third-party Switch games, Nintendo says roughly two-thirds of them either have "no issues" or have problems that will be resolved quickly at or after launch. On the original version of this support page, Nintendo had only performed its basic compatibility testing on roughly 20 percent of all third-party Switch games. Nintendo says that nearly all of the roughly 5,000 remaining Switch games will launch just fine on the Switch 2 but that "further tests" are "in progress." The support page doesn't say when Nintendo will provide its next update. Read full article Comments View the full article
  7. A recent report hints that three major Final Fantasy games will soon be announced for Xbox. The Final Fantasy franchise has traditionally been aligned with PlayStation platforms, especially in recent years, with major entries like Final Fantasy 16 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series skipping Xbox entirely. As Xbox continues to push its multi-platform strategy, that may finally be changing. View the full article
  8. Whether it's Insurgency or Call of Duty, Counter-Strike 2 or Rainbow Six Siege, I often have the same problem with every online FPS game. It varies depending on the lobby and the player base, and there are some games that mitigate it more than others, but generally, it's like everybody is out for themselves. These are meant to be multiplayer games - team deathmatches - but every individual is operating in isolation, and we're all working for our own kill-death ratio and XP gains. Battlefield 4's Commander mode tried to inject more direction and strategy. Likewise, the Commander role in Hell Let Loose, which, perhaps more than any online shooter, does feel like a team game. But I'd like to see it more. That's why the new Delta Force update has my attention. Read the rest of the story... 9. New Intel gaming GPUs weren't announced at Computex after all, but that doesn't mean that the chipmaker isn't hard at work. A new Linux driver update has just teased two previously unknown device IDs with Intel Battlemage codenames, suggesting that one could well be the recently teased Intel Arc B770 for gamers. Meanwhile, a new rumor suggests that, although the company is working on a new GPU, it won't be ready to launch until the end of the year. Intel caused plenty of speculation that new Intel Arc Battlemage GPUs were on the way before Computex, but only Intel Arc Pro workstation cards were ultimately announced. Those might be quality products but they won't be among the best graphics card options for gamers. Instead, what we need are new Intel gaming GPUs, with these latest leaks possibly hinting such an arrival might be coming. Read the rest of the story... 10. Dungeons and Dragons' playtest content is material that needs more work before it can be published. Heck, many Unearthed Arcana ideas don't even make it past the playtesting stages. What I'm trying to say is that, when a new playtest document seems wildly out of balance, we should be a little forgiving. Emphasis on the little, though, because this new Psion playtest is seriously wonky. Read the rest of the story... 12. What do you think Islands & Trains is about? I'm not going to give you long, because it really is just right there in the name. As you've presumably already guessed, it is a quaint-looking sandbox builder where you make tiny diorama-like islands, adorning them with tracks for trains to choo-choo along. I told you, it's a name that does what it says on the tin, and if it appeals to you at all, well, there's some good news, as it just came out today. Read more View the full article

  16. I remember previewing Evercore Heroes: Ascension two years ago. Its vibrant characters and intense, competitive action certainly scratched the League of Legends itch, with the PvE combat making it feel more akin to a playable Race to World First tournament than a traditional MOBA. But a lot has changed: in 2024 Vela Games announced that the game was undergoing a slight transformation, booting the competitive PvP element to focus entirely on PvE and add in roguelike-inspired elements. Since then, the team's been hard at work bringing its new vision to life and, if you've been following Evercore as closely as I have, you'll be excited to know that it's finally got a launch date - and it's just around the corner. 22. A modder is asking for help resurrecting Borderlands Online, an MMO version of Gearbox's comedy gun-runner that only ever saw daylight in China. It was announced in 2014 and shut down in 2015 alongside development studio 2K China, but footage of the abandoned project appeared online earlier this year. Now, intrepid digital archaeologist EpicNNG is trying to overcome "thousands of errors" and restore the MMO to a playable state. Read more View the full article
