Remember last week, when the developer snatched away the focus dodge flight glitch that was probably a little too powerful? It's now back, albeit in a slightly altered form, courtesy of an all-new skill. Alongside that comes the first implementation of a weapon display toggle, faster fast forwarding, better fast travel, and new additions to Oongka and Damiane that make both much more useful for actually exploring the open-world game. 16. The shooter space is in a weird place right now. As studios and publishers have scrambled to cash in on the live-service *****, we've been inundated with various multiplayer games that have had soaring highs and devastating lows. As players, it's never been easier to sort the wheat from the chaff, but for developers, cutting through the noise has become a major headache. When Nomion Games co-head Dmitri Ogorodnikov split from Escape From Tarkov maker Battlestate Games to head up the new studio, he knew that its first game, Rush is Real, couldn't follow in the steps of commercial failures like Concord and Highguard. Speaking to PCGamesN, Ogorodnikov explains that Nomion's in-the-works debut cannot hit the same stumbling blocks. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

  20. Just a day after Pearl Abyss’ announcement of the various improvements it said were coming soon to Crimson Desert, we have a new patch that adds many of them already — and even a few changes fans hadn't expected. The highlights of the patch, as detailed on the Crimson Desert website, are a new weapons display option, which means you can hide weapons from the back of your character (so long, shield!), the addition of skills for the secondary playable characters, which makes them more viable to play, and various user interface improvements. But there’s a lot in the update (patch notes below) that Pearl Abyss hadn’t mentioned. For example, Pearl Abyss has improved the usability of the Greymane camp (I won’t say how exactly, to avoid spoilers), made the Abyss puzzles easier by adding more hints and making it easier to recognize when certain gimmicks are available to be attached by using Force Palm, and gave Kliff an entirely new ability called Focused Aerial Roll. For me, the highlight of the patch is the improvements to Damiane and Oongka, who I’ve pretty much ignored up to this point because of their limited functionality. Now they have pretty much the same abilities as Kliff, so you’ll be able to use them to complete much of the open-world gameplay. The main story still revolves around Kliff and you’ll need to use him for the majority of it, but clearly Damiane and Oongka are more viable now. The patch also improves fast travel so it can be used while mounted, falling, swimming, or climbing walls, which means you can pretty much fast travel at any non combat point now. And there are some welcome quality of life improvements, too, such as icons for treasure chests already obtained now being displayed differently, visited and unvisited caves are now displayed with different icons, and restored and unrestored Abyss locations are now displayed with different icons. So, plenty to dig into with this latest patch, while there are still many improvements to come, as outlined this week. We can expect new pets and mounts, new outfits, and significant changes to storage, ‘re-blockading,’ and new difficulty options, too. As I’ve said before, the pace of these game-changing updates is so quick, you do wonder how Pearl Abyss is managing it. Crimson Desert has sold 4 million copies so far, making it a big hit for the developer, and it’s showing remarkable staying power in terms of Steam concurrents. So players are sticking with it, pumping hundreds of hours into its open world, and it continues to sell. A big part of that success is down to the updates released over the last few weeks, which have all have made significant improvements, helping to shift the mixed reception at launch. Clearly, there are even more to come. 21. If you’ve ever felt like your Xbox achievement history was a messy drawer you couldn’t organize, Microsoft is finally handing you a label maker. A new wave of updates to the Xbox Achievements system is now rolling out to select Xbox Insiders, with a wider release coming to all players later. The changes are modest in scope but meaningful in impact — and for anyone who takes their gaming profile seriously, there’s a lot to like here. A fresh coat of paint on your unlocks The most immediately noticeable change is visual. Achievement notifications have been redesigned with new icons and updated animations that trigger when you unlock both standard and rare achievements. Better yet, the notification now adapts to your custom accent color, making each unlock feel a little more yours rather than a generic pop-up you dismiss without thinking. It’s a small touch, but it’s the kind of polish that makes a system feel alive rather than neglected. Hide games you’d rather forget This one has been on the Xbox Insider wishlist for a long time. Later this month, players will be able to hide individual games from their achievement history on their profile. Had a rough run with a game you barely played? Want a cleaner, more curated showcase? Now you can make that call. One important note: hiding a game is purely cosmetic. It won’t strip you of any Gamerscore, and your activity will still be tracked across Xbox. Think of it as tidying your shelf — the games are still there, just not on display. Your 100% completions finally get their moment Fully completing a game is no small feat, and Xbox is now making sure that effort doesn’t get buried. Titles where you’ve earned every last point of available Gamerscore will now be highlighted directly in your achievements list, giving you a quick way to see your completed games at a glance. New filter options also make it easier to sort through your list — whether you want to find those completed titles or check what you’ve chosen to hide. Microsoft has noted this is just the beginning of a broader effort to better recognize completion milestones, so expect more in this space over time. The ******* picture None of these changes reinvent Xbox, but they reflect something important: Microsoft is listening to what players have been asking for. Achievements have felt stagnant for years, and even incremental improvements to how we present and celebrate our gaming history are worth getting excited about. For Xbox players across the Middle East and globally, the rollout begins with Insiders now, with full availability coming to everyone shortly after. Source: [Hidden Content] View the full article
  22. Over 20 years since the series' inception, the original Far Cry games were an absolute blast to play on release, with some of the later entries like Far Cry 3 still being praised to this very day. While there's been plenty of debate about where the best starting point is for new players of the series, a recent fan-made remaster makes the original game even more accessible than ever.
