The recent update for Assassin's Creed Shadows introduces a brand-new Nightmare gameplay mode that ramps up the difficulty level to the extreme, and it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Nightmare Mode introduces a few different difficulty modifiers to various aspects of gameplay, and if you have them all dialed up to 11, the game is finally legitimately challenging to complete. You're going to have to actually strategize an approach to things and carefully plan where, when, and how you enter into particular areas, and combat requires precise parrying and dodging skills. Good weekend, Destructoid! I am typing this fast before I need to rush out for a busy couple of days of walking and gaming, so let's cut to the chase and discuss what our plans are for the weekend! A fair bit is going on, but for the majority of trainers out there, there is one big unskippable event taking place that'll give people a lot to do. If you aren't into that, though, there are a handful of other games worth checking out. Pokémon Go Fest 2025: Global is happening from 10am until 6pm local time and you know that's where I'll be spending most my time trying to get all the Shiny Pokémon possible and tick some things off my living dex checklist, but I'm aware the game isn't everyone's cup of tea. Outside of that, some huge games have been released this week, like Death Stranding 2, and the weekend is the perfect opportunity to begin the grind there and see what the game is like and if the buzz surrounding it is real or not. It's a good weekend to be into indie games as well, with PEAK, Ruffy and the Riverside, and plenty of other titles still around for anyone looking for something a bit more casual to pass their time. I also know a few gamers locked into Persona 5: The Phantom X, but the gacha mechanic and other aspects of the game don't cut it for me. I'd prefer to wait for a full-blooded sequel than this phone game made ******* than it should be. Elden Ring: Nightreign also apparently got new content I'll need to find time to check out when I can get a few group of friends together, though I'm still waiting on the future duos update to be able to play it with my brother instead of hooking up with randoms all the time. So there is plenty to be played this weekend, but let me know in the comments what your plan is! The post What are you playing this weekend, Destructoid? June 28-29 appeared first on Destructoid. After negotiations between Mojang and LEGO fell apart in 2012, the Minecraft spin-off title Brickcraft ended development, but a dedicated group of fans has now found a playable prototype build of the collaboration game. Xbox Game Pass is having a very good year, and while June has been a little slow for new releases on the subscription service, there’s plenty more to come in the latter half of 2025. One game set to come out later this year is Keeper, an indie title by Double Fine, the studio behind 2021’s Psychonauts 2. In it, players take control of a crumbling lighthouse with legs as it explores strange new environments with its sea bird friend, solving puzzles and discovering why it feels the urge to head to the center of its island. Marvel Rivals' season three begins in two weeks, and it appears we now have official confirmation of which heroes will be joining the roster when it arrives, thanks to a leak from streaming site Twitch. The whoopsie came as part of a new blog post about Twitch's "Summer Drops Fest," highlighting viewership rewards across a variety of games. One of those games is Marvel Rivals, and the description given spills the beans. Image via Kabam Games, Inc. "Phoenix and Blade ignite the action in Marvel Rivals Season 3: The Abyss Awaken!" the blog post reads, pointing to new Twitch Drops for Hawkeye beginning on July 11. "Get ready for all-new team-ups, stunning Venomized costumes, and sizzling summer events that will turn up the heat. Don’t miss out—tune in to Marvel Rivals on Twitch for exclusive drops and dive into this epic new chapter!" If you've been paying attention to the game's lore over the past few months, the two new heroes should come as no surprise. Blade first appeared in season one as a victim of Dracula who's been resting up until he disappeared from one of the maps recently, and the ending of season two's lore hinted heavily at Phoenix coming to the game. What's most disappointing to me, however, is that from data mines in the past, both heroes were listed as Duelists. Yes, more damage-dealing heroes, in a roster that's already chock full of them. The role distribution has been Duelist-heavy since launch, and now it's just getting worse. Currently, the game's roster has 10 Vanguards and nine Strategists...and a whopping 20 Duelists. That uneven distribution is about to get even worse, if the roles have not changed since past data mines. Marvel Rivals is about to get straight up tumultuous, with new heroes and seasons launching every single month. I really think it's going to be a balancing nightmare, and I'm curious to see how if at all it effects the game's playerbase, especially after seasonal launches bring people back. Season three of Marvel Rivals, and its two new Duelist heroes, are set to arrive on July 11. With today's error by Twitch, I'd expect the official confirmation of season three to becoming pretty soon. If nothing else, the Venomized and summer skins should be awesome. The post Twitch just leaked Marvel Rivals season 3 details early, including both new heroes—and I’m bummed about the choices appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article

It's Pokémon Go Fest 2025 Global time, and with it, this special research asks you once again to carve out a path for yourself through a handful of options. But which is the best to pick? In the GO Fest 2025: Hero's Journey Special Research tree, you are tasked with choosing to go down the Crowned Sword Journey or the Crowned Shield Journey. Picking either of these tasks will help you to get one of the two Crowned Pokémon of either Zacian or Zamazenta, but it doesn't lock you to only one, as you can get the other via doing raids throughout the weekend. In my opinion, there is one choice worth going for more than the rest of them, but let's first show you what the choices are, and then I'll direct you where I think you should go. Is it better to go Crowned Sword or Crowned Shield in GO Fest 2025: Hero's Journey in Pokémon Gohttps://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp/status/1938251234432933954 Choosing the Crowned Sword Journey will have you focus more on Zacian in Pokémon Go, while choosing the Crowned Shield Journey will have you focus on Zamazenta. The main changes this makes to the rewards you get are mainly related to Candy around the two Pokémon, with all of the rewards remaining the same. Choosing the Crowned Sword journey will have you focus on catching more Fairy-type Pokémon for some of the tasks first, whereas the Crowned Shield focuses on Fighting-type Pokémon instead. So the choice comes down to you. Look at what habitat you are in. If you are getting Fairy-type spawns, maybe go down the Sword Path if you want to speedrun the tasks to get them out of the way. But in my opinion, the tasks are better suited to personal circumstances. If you only plan to play Saturday, for example, you'll miss out on Zacian raids on Sunday, so choose the Crowned Sword path to get what you need for the Zacian form unlock so you don't miss out. Either way, picking either option won't have you miss out on much if you plan to play the whole weekend and go all in on raids to try to find enough Energy to change the forms of both Pokémon. So take whichever path you like, knowing you're not missing out on anything major. So honestly, pick what you want, but if I had to choose. I'm going to go the Crowned Sword Journey path so I can get both Crowned forms of Zacian and Zamazenta on the same day and enjoy my Sunday focusing on Shiny Pokémon. But you might have different goals from mine. The post Should you pick Crowned Sword Journey or Crowned Shield Journey path for Go Fest 2025: Hero’s Journey in Pokémon Go appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
