  1. Ubisoft has given fans a 2026 release window for the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was initially set to release in 2021. 2. It’s been five years since Anno 1800, but we’ve finally seen what’s next for Ubisoft’s history-hopping city-building series. Anno 117: Pax Romana will be the earliest ******* for the franchise yet, travelling back to the time of a peaceful Ancient Rome. After the biggest gap between Anno games yet, we at least won’t have to wait too long for the newly revealed entry: it’s out next year. 3. Image: Ubisoft The reveal of *********’s Creed Shadows mostly focused on its story, characters, and setting. But a new trailer gives a better idea of how the game will actually play. The lengthy gameplay overview, which clocks in at around 12 minutes long, shows off the game’s sprawling rendition of Japan, while also detailing the different skills and approaches of its two playable leads. It’s also very *******. This is the game’s second gameplay trailer in as many days. Ubisoft also released a shorter clip during the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday: Shadows is the latest entry in the series to have dual protagonists (see: *********’s Creed Syndicate), as players can choose between the samurai Yasuke and the shinobi ********* Naoe. It follows last year’s M... Continue reading… View the full article

  5. Sorry, folks. Tonight's Ubisoft Forward showcase has now passed by, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 was nowhere to be seen, leaving everyone still wondering whether it'll ever actually arrive at all. Yeah. We've got virtual tissues handy if you need em', Beyond Good and Evilers. Maybe it was wishful thinking for any of us to have expected the sequel to 2003's Beyond Good And Evil to actually show up at this event, especially after it officially celebrated becoming the most delayed AAA game, er, ever back in October 2022. But, that said, what are people if they don't have hope? Beyond Good and Evil fans at this iteration of Ubisoft Forward, as it turns out. Since we got nothing, nada, zero, zilch, goose egg, of Beyond Good and Evil 2, as has pretty much become the norm at this point. Read more View the full article

  7. Following leaks earlier this month, Ubisoft confirmed today that the GSK faction from the publisher’s other major shooter franchise, Rainbow Six Siege, will arrive in XDefiant with the launch of season one this summer. The GSK faction will be playable when season one of XDefiant launches on July 2, with a full gameplay reveal scheduled for the day prior. The operators appear to be Bandit, Jäger, and Blitz from the GSG-9 faction in Rainbow Six Siege. Blitz is instantly recognizable with his trademark large police shield that uses flashbang technology. The gameplay trailer also features a faction ability that looks similar to Bandit’s Shockwire ability icon. View the full article
  8. Following a quick tease at the Xbox Showcase yesterday, Ubisoft Forward had the real deal when it comes to *********’s Creed Shadows gameplay. As part of the presentation, we got treated to some new footage of the stealth-action game. What Is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater? Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater (that's the fancy way to write it) is a remake of the 2004 PS2 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This souped-up stealth action game has all-new graphics and cut scenes, based on the Unreal Engine 5. However, it will reportedly use the same voice acting tracks from the original game. And while you'll still be able to use the same (stiff) control scheme as the original, in Delta you can opt instead for modernized controls. That's how I'll be playing the game, thank you very much. 10. Ubisoft has revealed the beloved city-builder franchise Anno will finally be taking fans to the Ancient Roman Empire in Anno 117: Pax Romana. Furthermore, it will be released in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. While the team wasn't ready to show off gameplay, it did share a short teaser that set the tone for what fans can expect. You'll be introduced to the Town Crier in the trailer, who will appear in game, and he is making the grand announcement that a new Governor is coming to bring a new era of wealth and prosperity to these lands. However, he is speaking to no one as the lands have not been claimed yet and sare waiting for you. In a clever nod to Field of Dreams, the tagline is revealed as, "Build it and they wil come." And build it you will in Anno 117: Pax Romana, as you will take on the role of a Roman Governor who was sent by the emperor to manage the "costs of maintaining peace" across the empire. That obviously won't be an easy feat, but Ubisoft is doing all it can to make it a rewarding and fun challenge for all players. One of the ways they are accomplishing this is, for the first time in an Anno game, letting players choose their starting province. The two provinces so far revealed are the Celtic Wetlands of Albion and the traditional Roman heartlands called Latium. Albion is a "land filled with mysteries where no civilized Roman wants to be," and Latium is "close to the hungry heart" of the Empire and will give you that more traditional Roman feel. These may be different lands, but you will eventually be able to connect all of them together under one flag. Anno 117: Pax Romana will be the first mainline Anno game since 2017's Anno 1800, and it will keep many of the series pillars fans have loved, including "a unique mix of traditional city building, deep economical simulation, and 4X features like diplomacy, military, and narrative layers." However, this also marks a new era for the Anno franchise, and we had the chance to talk to creative director Manuel Reinher and brand director Haye Anderson about why this is the most exciting time to be or become a fan of the series. An Anno for the Modern Age Anno first jumped to the world stage in 1998 with Anno 1602, but Anno 117: Pax Romana is the title Ubisoft is really pushing as a modern strategy powerhouse that can stand with any of the competition. Rome is the perfect location for this big bet, and while it's been an option for locations for previous Anno games, the time has finally arrived to answer fans' calls with a bit of a twist to this trip back in time. "We want to tell the untold story of how it was to govern Roman provinces," Reinher said, "During that era, there was over 200 years of peace and it was the time after a big conquest. And we are talking an empire of people from three continents that accounted for almost 20% of the world's population. So, the story we are trying to tell is how did the Romans manage to stabilize this?" You, as the governor, will help answer that question and decide how to maintain the peace in these regions and please the locals while also enforcing the law given from the Emperor himself. The team also stressed to us that we'll be living in a meticulously recreated Roman Empire, but this is more historically inspired than historically accurate, so there will be smart concessions made to make it a more fun gaming experience without feeling out of place. Speaking of fun, Ubisoft also wants Anno 117 to be fun for players of all skill levels while not taking out any of the challenge for veteran players and those looking for a rewarding mountain to climb. In our Anno 1800 review, we said, "Outright newcomers to this type of game will have a tough go at it, as important elements of Anno 1800 aren’t given comprehensive tutorials, but diligent gamers will excitedly watch hours fly by once they get settled in." The team has taken this feedback to heart. "First of all, we want to improve our on-boarding," Reinher said. "We want to embrace new players and also continue to embrace the complexity. One of the steps to accomplish this is making the game more modular. If you are a new player and what to pick one of the provinces that speaks to you, go for it! And you'll have more context and story to help you along. "But if you are a core player, you can of course combine the provinces and trade and do all the stuff that you love to do in managing multiple lands. So, it's not about explaining everything, it's about removing the hard walls and giving players more freedom to make the game more digestible and adapt it to your needs. So, although we are bringing innovation to Anno 117, we are staying true to the legacy of the brand." In closing, Anderson shared that this is a new era for Anno and one that the team is doing all it can to meet the players' high expectations. "We are delivering a Roman game with a fresh perspective and unseen scale in detail for them," Anderson said." We are doing more social content, more Twitch content, and we are rebranding in a way we can add more people into our community to make the Anno family more robust and welcoming. "I think this is the real beginning of a partnership between the community and game development and working together to deliver the best product possible." The team is excited to share much more about Anno 117: Pax Romana in the future leading up to its 2025 launch, but in the meantime keep an eye out for the Easter Eggs just waiting to be found in the trailer that may reveal more about the game. 11. Ubisoft has finally put a release window on the Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake: 2026. The Sands of time remake’s release year, announced during the Ubisoft Forward 2024 event alongside a brief teaser video, comes after what was reportedly a troubled development. In November last year, Ubisoft said the Ubisoft Montreal project had passed an “important” internal milestone and that development was “progressing.” Prince of Persia's first delay arrived in December 2020, just months after its initial announcement, with an indefinite delay following in February 2021. Ubisoft made its most drastic shift yet when development was moved from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal in May 2022. Work has continued at the *********’s Creed Valhalla studio since, with the publisher confirming it had moved into the “conception” phase of development in May 2023. The Sands of Time first launched on PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and PC back in November 2003 to criticial and commerial acclaim. This hotly anticipated remake has been in the works for at least four years. In a blog post, Ubisoft said the remake is now entering its "full production phase", with Ubisoft Montreal receiving support from co-dev studios in Toronto, Bucharest, Paris, and Pune. Meanwhile, Ubisoft announced updates for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which gets a story DLC in September, and The Rogue Prince of Persia, which dropped its first major free title update today, June 10. 13. It's a good thing I'm a big fan of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, because it's only that underyling fandom that's making me write this post about the upcoming story DLC. 20. The upcoming first-person RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed, has seemingly had its release date leaked by none other than Obsidian itself. After showcasing the game at the Xbox Games Showcase yesterday, the studio didn’t announce a release date but apparently leaked it in a follow-up blog post. The post appeared on Obsidian’s website and blog before being altered. It seemingly confirmed Avowed’s release date as Nov. 12, according to screenshots of the blog taken by Twitter/X user HazzadorGamin on June 10. Avowed recently had its story trailer feature as part of the massive Xbox Games Showcase, which did imply that the game would be launching later this year. But there was no precise date set during the showcase, and it appears the developers initially wanted to include one but changed their minds for whatever reason. The post is still up but, like the showcase, features no concrete release date. View the full article

  22. We've just gotten a fresh look at Star Wars Outlaws ahead of its arrival of August 30, via some more gameplay shown during tonight's Ubisoft Forward showcase. Kay Vess' space scoundrel story was one of the three big headliners, alongside *********'s Creed Shadows and XDefiant, advertised ahead of time for this year's Ubisoft Forward showcase, having popped up during Friday's Summer Game Fest show with quick teaser basically designed to whet your appetite to see more today. So, what did we get tonight? Well, some fresh gameplay showing Kay Vess and her erstwhile partner, Nix, wandering around an amazing-looking hub. It's all got a very lived-in vibe – none of that open, quite bland stuff you tend to see in some of the blander Far Cry entries (and I'm saying that as some that loves Far Cry – Dom). 23. After more than a year of legal battles and absence, Dark and Darker has finally found its way back to the biggest PC platform, Steam. The game’s return was long-awaited—but not so warmly welcomed—as players are now review-******** it for its “misleading” free-to-play model. Dark and Darker was brought back to Steam on June 7, after the developers announced its re-release during this year’s Summer Game Fest. It launched as a free-to-play, early-access title, granting players the opportunity to give the game a few spins before upgrading to the real deal. But many players believe this way of “demoing” the game is misleading, and they have been giving the game a thumbs down on Steam for days, pushing it to a “Mixed” review rating on Valve’s storefront. It’s such a convoluted moment that one review claimed the game should’ve just released with its usual $30 price tag and it would’ve all been smooth sailing from there.
