For All Mankind is one of those long-running prestige TV series that everyone seems to greatly enjoy, but struggle to make an impact on the mainstream conversation. However, it appears that Apple is more than happy to keep it going and even give it a companion spinoff show. The tech and media giant is all in on sci-fi and space-related shows, it seems. From Foundation to For All Mankind, and also including more recent stuff like Constellation, Apple has been spending the big bucks on those genres, quickly making the Apple TV+ service the go-to streaming destination for those in love with outer space and high-concept science fiction. For All Mankind's season 5 renewal confirmation comes straight from Apple (via Variety), which is already calling it "a universe" instead of a single alt-history series. "There is so much to explore and, we along with our partners at Sony, can’t wait to ***** into this next chapter of the engrossing ‘For All Mankind’ universe," said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for the Apple TV+ platform. The wait for more Starfield content may be coming to an end as creative director and Bethesda Game Studios boss Todd Howard clarifies what the community can expect going forward. Following the most recent update's disappointing reception, players have been pushing Bethesda for more insight on Starfield's future and the studio has finally provided an inkling. “I’ll just do this last *****, then go to bed.” It’s a lie, and I know it. It’s always just one more *****, one more restaurant shift, one more VIP guest. Before I know it, an hour has passed. Every time an in-game day finishes, I get ready to stop playing for the night, then someone rocks up in a boat with yet another task that sees me exploring the depths of the Blue *****. There’s no doubt about it: Dave the Diver has me hooked. ***** in An underwater world to explore. Image via MINTROCKET There was a lot of buzz about Dave the Diver when it launched for PC in June 2023. I was intrigued, but ultimately never pulled the trigger and picked it up. But following its BAFTA win and release on PS5 (and PS Plus), I finally gave in. View the full article
Of all the many XCOM adjacent turn-based strategy games on PC, Steamworld Heist might just be the one that makes you feel the coolest. A heist game all about leading your steampunk ****** pirate crew through a series of tactical spaceship shootouts, its unique bullet-bouncing gambit makes for some incredibly satisfying and deep strategy, so I was very happy to hear that Steamworld Heist 2 is bringing it back later in 2024. Ahead of that, you can grab the first game - itself an impressive 96%-rated on Steam - for basically a dollar right now to see what you've been missing. Read the rest of the story... Fallout 5 could be anything, and set anywhere in the world. We all have our own personal visions for Bethesda's RPG sequel. Maybe it picks up from the sacred Fallout New Vegas somewhere in the Mojave, or maybe it's a direct sequel to Fallout 4, and connects somehow to Boston. Heck, we could even go back to the origins, and the world of isometric Fallout and Fallout 2. With Starfield still relatively close in the rearview mirror, and The Elder Scrolls 6 seemingly in the works, Bethesda has a lot going on. Fallout 5 news ******** sparse. One studio legend however offers some insight into the development process and potential waiting time of the apocalypse RPG game. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

Image: Vjeran Pavic / The Verge Last March, Panic launched a curated game shop called Catalog for its Playdate handheld. And one year later, the company says it has sold more than 150,000 games through the store. “We want to let everyone who enjoys games know that there is a vibrant game dev community making hundreds of inventive and thoughtful games for Playdate,” Arisa Sudangnoi, head of Playdate developer relations, said in a statement. The news comes exactly two years after the handheld first launched. At the beginning of 2024, Panic revealed that it had sold 70,000 Playdate units, and it now says that more than half of those users — 38,000 — have purchased a game through Catalog. For context, the Playdate launched with a “season” of 24 games from notable... Continue reading… View the full article

***** by Daylight has seen many items, add-ons, and perks added to the game. But players think none have been as useless as the infamous Broken Key. Since launch, players believe the item remained a useless husk, with some calling it “a slap in the face.” Players expressed what they think of the Broken Key in an April 17 Reddit thread dedicated solely to discussing its uselessness. “In 2016, this was the most useless item in the game. Since then, nothing’s changed,” the original post reads. One player said finding the item in chests feels like a “slap in the face” and would “rather lose a health state and find literally anything besides that key.” For the uninitiated, the Broken Key requires add-ons to function properly, and finding it scattered around the map nets you exactly zero useful mechanics. Despite some high praise from certain groups of critics and moviegoers, Ridley Scott's Napoleon epic garnered a bit of a divisive reception last year, with Joaquin Phoenix's performance being a part of that. Now, British acting legend Brian Cox (of recent Succession fame) has also criticised the movie and its main actor. Cox has a long history of not giving a s**t when it comes to interviews and side gigs (such as that incredible Tekken 8 trailer he narrated). His recent rant at HistFest (via The Standard) is on an entirely different level, however. The veteran actor had negative things to say about method acting, Donald Trump, and theatre critics, but also had some bullets to spare for Phoenix's Napoleon performance as well as the (lack of) guidance he was given by Ridley Scott. "Terrible. It’s terrible," he declared, "A truly terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It really is appalling. I don’t know what he was thinking. I think it’s totally his fault and I don’t think Ridley Scott helps him. I would have played it a lot better than Joaquin Phoenix, I tell you that." It's the last sentence that sells the whole thing, I'd say. Just sublime stuff. Read more View the full article
Despite releasing in September 2023, Counter-Strike 2 hasn’t changed much since then, and many vital features are still missing. Recently, players discussed how disappointed they are that Valve still hasn’t added one simple feature to the game. A player asked on an April 17’s Reddit post how it’s possible that there’s still no option to host private five-versus-five lobbies in CS2. At the moment, it’s almost impossible to simply create a private lobby, despite this being a default option in many other multiplayer games like League of Legends. It turns out many other players are as clueless and “in disbelief” as the OP. View the full article
Friends, I have officially discovered another game I can play with my life partner, who regards most games with enormous suspicion and fatigue. That game is Morels: The Hunt 2, released this week, and as you might guess, it is about finding and identifying various species of mushroom in lush, photorealistic wilderness locations. There are also unicorns, crystal skulls and ****** parts. Slightly confused by the unicorns, crystal skulls and ****** parts, if I'm honest. It feels a bit like developers Abrams Studios are unconvinced as to the popular appeal of mushroom hunting, and have garlanded the concept with random mythology so as to widen the Venn diagram overlap between "fungi fans" and "people who want to live in cyberpunk Narnia". ny player of DnD will know that role playing around camp sessions will, almost always, descend into some sort of shenanigans involving drinking. There have been several Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 leaks and rumors so far, ahead of the update’s release in early May. The next patch for the turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is expected to continue the main campaign questline set in Penacony, the Planet of Festivities. This will be the third major update in the new destination, introduced earlier this year with the release of Version 2.0. There are a few details that have already been confirmed for Version 2.2, such as the new playable characters, though that pales in comparison to the information provided by leaks in Honkai: Star Rail. You there. Do you like Dragon's Dogma 2 and watching two things that aren't you ****** each other? Well, if you've ever wanted to see what happens when an ogre decides it's just about had enough of a pack of goblins or a griffin and don't want to rely on random chance to make that dream come true, a new mod looks like it can help. Yup, while coming across a couple of ****** gangs going at it isn't too uncommon in the base version of DD2, when you rock up, their attention usually shifts to caving in the head of your Arisen or ripping them to shreds, making it a bit hard to just sit back and watch the chaos unfold. So, the option to make enemies a bit more agressive towards each other, especially when attacks go awry, sounds pretty useful for the average mischief causer. Enter modder alphaZomega's 'Monster Infighting'. It's inspired by the feature of the same name in the classic ***** games, in which tricking monsters into battling each other by cleverly making attacks meant for you set off a bit of an inter-baddie scuffle is a bit of an art. CS2 is being targeted by ****** fans for its lack of meaningful updates following the lackluster April 16 patch.
