1. After a successful first outing, Czech game developer Warhorse Studios is back with a sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance - and fans will be able to play it later this year. Simply titled Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the new title promises to be another realism-focused action RPG - set against the backdrop of a chaotic civil war raging across 15th Century Bohemia - the historic region of the world that encompasses much of the modern-day Czech Republic. Players are once again cast as Henry of Skalitz - the returning protagonist from the first title. Henry’s story continues - and the developers promise hours more cutscenes than in the previous game, a more epic story, and a significantly larger open world for Henry to explore. In an introduction given to media, the game's developers boasted the word was double the size. See the debut trailer for yourself below. Read more View the full article
2. Not all AIs are evil, at least, ones in fiction aren't. In Jitter, an upcoming indie sci-fi exploration game, you play as an AI plugged into a spaceship. What we do know is that Jitter has just been unveiled and it's looking like a tasty mashup of FTL and Noita. Read the rest of the story... View the full article
3. Corsair has just unveiled five new additions to its Elgato streaming gear range, all of which fall under the new Elgato Neo branding. The five products comprise the Wave Neo microphone, Facecam Neo webcam, Capture Neo capture card, Key Light Neo face light, and Stream Deck Neo streaming interface. While all the new products have plenty of interesting features, the Wave Neo has particularly caught our attention, as it includes two features that so many other much more expensive streaming mics don't include. Namely, you get a foam pop filter, as well as a stand that actually reaches reasonably close to your mouth. It may not ultimately be enough to put this latest Elgato device on our best gaming microphone list but it gives it a head start. Read the rest of the story... 7. Enlarge / Seeing power armor in the Fallout series inspired many players to jump back into their own suits (and start stockpiling fusion cores). (credit: Amazon/MGM Studios) Long-time Fallout fans are used to long waits between titles, and, depending on their preferences, inconsistent results. But when Amazon's Fallout series showed up on Prime and absolutely nailed it, it spurred a lot of players to ****** open their libraries and commence some post-apocalyptic replaying. And maybe first-time playing, too. Fallout 76, the online multiplayer title that is the most recent full release, saw perhaps the biggest delta. The game hit its all-time peak of 43,887 simultaneous players on Wednesday, April 17, according to SteamCharts, roughly one week after the Amazon series' debut. For the year leading up to that peak, Fallout 76 had hovered around 7,000-10,000 players through most of 2024, and then jumped after the series' debut. Of course, that number only counts PC players, and only those on Steam; the game, which launched simultaneously on consoles, and is available on Microsoft's Game Pass, likely has many more players. SteamDB, another Steam stats tracker, suggested on X (formerly Twitter) that the Fallout game series as a whole had more than doubled its concurrent player count by April 14. 15. Warhorse have revealed Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, sequel to the 2018 open world action-RPG which you will likely remember for a couple of reasons: 1) its ostensibly faithful but inevitably skewed representations of race, gender and class in medieval Bohemia, which were amplified by its creative director Daniel Vávra's qualified endorsement of Gamergate, and 2) being a moderately entertaining, buggy and mucky chivalric fable in which you have to worry about keeping your sword sharp and eating food before it rots. Going by the announcement video, the new game is the same game but with more cash to *****. It's the work of 250 people, with Jan Velta returning as composer. According to Vávra, "what we are making now is what it was supposed to be in the beginning, but we were not able to do it because we didn't have enough resources and experience." 21. Enlarge / That is in no way what the Z button looks like or where it goes... Apple's decision earlier this month to open the iOS App Store to generic retro game emulators is already bearing fruit. Delta launched Wednesday as one of the first officially approved iOS apps to emulate Nintendo consoles from the NES through the N64 and the Game Boy through the Nintendo DS (though unofficial options have snuck through in the past). Delta is an outgrowth of developer Riley Testut's earlier sideloadable GBA4iOS project, which recently had its own unauthorized clone removed from the App Store. Before Wednesday, iOS users could load Delta onto their devices only through AltStore, an iOS marketplace that used a Developer Mode workaround to sideload apps from a self-hosted server. ********* users can now get that AltStore directly on their iOS devices (for a small 1.50 euro/year fee), while North ********* users can simply download Delta for free from the iOS App Store, with no ads or user tracking to boot. All that history means Delta is far from a slapdash app quickly thrown together to take advantage of Apple's new openness to emulation. The app is obviously built with iOS in mind and already integrates some useful features designed for the mobile ecosystem. While there are some updates we'd like to see in the future, this represents a good starting point for where Apple-approved game emulation can go on iOS.
