  1. It feels like Overwatch 2’s collaborations have only scratched the surface as its hero roster is ripe for the picking when it comes to cool, themed skins. The game’s community is not short on ideas for the game’s purchasable outfits, like a recent fun collab featuring X-Men ’97 skins, but another one featuring Marvel characters in general may be even better. 2. A fireworks-filled Candidates Tournament ended with a dramatic conclusion as four players were still in the running for the world championship challenger designation heading into the final round of play. Two hard-fought draws meant no one could stop 17-year-old Gukesh Dommaraju from fulfilling his chess destiny and setting up a scintillating clash with Ding Liren later in the year, potentially marking a great generational shift in the chess world. 7. Perhaps you are fatigued by orcs and swords. Maybe you yearn for a simple life of bucolic betterment to recover from your addiction to spicy wedding bands but still ***** to stray too far from your beloved fantasy franchise. Oh look, it's Tales of the Shire, a game set in Middle-earth which features not a single ounce of stabbing nor - as far as I can tell - any gigantic spiders at all. It's a life sim about building a home in Hobbiton and keeping up with the Proudfeet. Maybe you will also get to lie around getting totally blazed on halfling *******. Although I did not spot that in this hearthful new trailer. Read more View the full article
  8. Since Larian has confirmed that it is done with the Baldur’s Gate license, some fans have been concerned about the future of the series, but there is an even better choice to work on an expansion to Baldur’s Gate 3 or a potential Baldur’s Gate 4 that could easily outshine Larian. Obsidian has defined itself as the premiere pinch hitter for RPG development. The company’s follow-ups to BioWare’s Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic surpassed the originals, just as Obsidian did with Fallout: New Vegas, a superior game to Bethesda’s Fallout 3 by most metrics. 10. Counter-Strike 2 has had ups and downs since its launch in September of last year. The most rampant issue for players was and is cheating and a lackluster anti-cheat. However, players think that cheating isn’t the only problem and have named many other “real issues” in a recent Reddit thread. The thread, posted on April 22, contained a long and extensive list of issues that have plagued CS2 for months. The original poster, blairxv, cited interpolation (dying when you don’t see the ******, shots missing or hitting when they shouldn’t), a botched economy with the MR12 system, and general clarity as the primary issues aside from cheating. Valve has been making strides to fix some of these, particularly the interpolation side of things with significant networking updates. The company attempted to address clarity as well by adding a new cl_bob option, though that didn’t prove to be the right solution for many players. View the full article
  11. If you’ve ever watched The Lord of the Rings or read one of J.R.R. Tolkien’s chapters about The Shire and thought, “wow, I’d love to live like that,” then you’re in luck. No, you didn’t just win an all-expenses paid trip to New Zealand. But a new LOTR game coming out looks to combine the Hobbit hometown with elements of games like Animal Crossing and Disney Dreamlight Valley to create an interesting spin on the cozy life-sim genre. 13. Fallout. It's a series of games about what happens when someone pushes that big red button to drop the nukes, damning an alternate timeline version of humanity to spend an eternity doing fun little quests among the rubble. Within that, there's scope for some of the best RPG fun you can get, no matter what kind of fun it is that you're looking for in an RPG. We've all thought about what'd happen if the ****** were to actually fall, and since 1997, first Interplay and ****** Isle, now Bethesda - with some help from Obsidian and now Amazon, have offered us a chance to see just how we might fare if forced to roam the radioactive streets of post-apocalyptic America. The answer in reality is that we'd all probably **** very quickly, but hey, that's what video games are for - to give us a chance to dream. But, which of the Fallouts is the best? It's a loaded question for sure, an one you'll end up answering differently depending on what you want out of a Fallout game. However, because the terrifying ****** that pulls the strings of our world has yanked it in a direction where things need to be ranked on websites, here's our attempt to do just that for the Fallout series, both main-line entries and all the spin-offs that're actually worth caring about. 15. The Fallout TV show is continuing to have an impressive ripple effect on its source material. Last week saw Fallout 76 hit its highest-ever concurrent player count on Steam, while Fallout Shelter saw a humble bump in player count and revenue. Unsurprisingly, the game reaping the biggest benefits from the show's success is Fallout 4. Despite it being almost nine years old at this point, it's technically the most recent mainline entry—one which was one of the most-played games on Steam this weekend... 21. Not all horrific, villainous, disgusting monsters in the world of Diablo 4 are evil. Some are charitable, apparently, thanks to a new promotion by Blizzard on the game’s official Twitter/X account. Diablo 4: Duriel’s Offering is a charity campaign where the company is farming engagement, just like any other checkmarked account on the app, but with good reason. Fittingly, Duriel the Maggot King is scrounging up maggots for a good cause. View the full article
  22. At the end of last year I played the demo for An English Haunting and got very excited. I like horror that has a generally spooky, creeping dread vibe rather than being wall-to-wall cheap jumpscares and gore, and that sort of stuff is thin on the ground. But it'll be less so from May the 15th, cos that's when this ghosty point and click puzzle adventure is out! Hooray! The demo is still on Steam if you want a taste before then. In the meantime, the release date announcement comes with a new trailer to enjoy. Read more View the full article
