After a few years and a handful of delays, Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter XDefiant is here in all its glory. Based on our early impressions of the shooter, it seems like there’s something there. However, with the full game in the wild, XDefiant might be a different ******. A good indicator is what’s coming with the full release. To learn all the maps and modes in the pre-season of XDefiant, we’ll break it down for you below. XDefiant: All maps and modes coming in the pre-seasonIf you’re like me and played the previous betas we saw only one or two modes, however, I am happy to report that XDefiant has more with the hopes of keeping this fresh. Before jumping in with your friends let’s go over the modes first. Since XDefiant is a live service game, you can expect more modes to drop in the future seasons.Image: UbisoftAll modes in the pre-seasonCurrently, there are only five modes in the pre-season.&nbs...View the full article
XDefiant has just launched, which means many players will be experiencing errors. UNIFORM-1 is one that immediately greeted me, although I got lucky. Many players won’t be in the same boat as me. Here’s what to do.Fixing the UNIFORM-1 error in XDefiantBoth thankfully and unfortunately, the UNIFORM-1 error in XDefiant appears to be a basic server issue. The message explicitly states that the servers are currently unavailable, which could mean a couple of things. Screenshot: PC InvasionIf you’re playing on the launch day, then UNIFORM-1 means that Ubisoft’s servers are, predictably, having a hard housing everyone. If you’re experiencing this error far into the future, then it may be because your network can’t connect to Ubisoft’s servers. This isn’t the first error that has concerned the connection to servers, so if you know what to do, then get cracking. Otherwise, follow these steps.UNIFORM-1 may be a Ubisoft-side p...View the full article

It seems Starfield's recent May update is having a tremendous effect on the game's player count. Despite bringing new elements to the Bethesda RPG table, like its intricate shipbuilding system and hundreds of explorable planets, Starfield isn't considered nearly as initially successful as past Bethesda behemoths like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim or Fallout 4. In the months following its launch, Starfield has seen its player base drop dramatically despite the game maintaining a solid community of PC modders and shipbuilders. View the full article

Minecraft[/i] commentary like "Oh no, it's a zombie. Run!""> Enlarge / In the recent past, you'd have to rely on your **** sibling to deliver Minecraft commentary like "Oh no, it's a zombie. Run!" (credit: Microsoft) [/url] Longtime gamers (and/or Game Grumps fans) likely know that even single-player games can be a lot more fun with a friend hanging out nearby to offer advice, ****** the breeze, or just offer earnest reactions to whatever's happening on screen. Now, Microsoft is promising that its GhatGPT-4o-powered Copilot system will soon offer an imitation of that pro-social experience even for Minecraft players who don't have any human friends available to watch them play. In a pair of social media posts Monday, Microsoft highlighted how "real-time conversations with your AI companion copilot" can enhance an otherwise solitary Minecraft experience. In the first demo, the disembodied copilot voice tells the player how to craft a sword, walking him through the process of gathering some wood or stone to go with the sticks sitting in his inventory. In another, the AI identifies a zombie in front of the player and gives the (seemingly obvious) advice to run away from the threat and "make sure it can't reach you" by digging underground or building a tower of blocks. [Hidden Content] — Microsoft Copilot (@MSFTCopilot) May 20, 2024 These kinds of in-game pointers aren't the most revolutionary use of conversational AI—even a basic in-game tutorial/reference system or online walkthrough could deliver the same basic information, after all. Still, the demonstration stands out for just how that information is delivered to the player through a natural language conversation that doesn't require pausing the gameplay even briefly. It's been a while since we've looked at a micro-ATX case, and the Jonsbo D30 is quite different from your usual off-the-shelf chassis. For starters, it doesn't have any fans as standard, while cases such as Kolink's Citadel Mesh RGB come fully equipped with fans. Still, that doesn't necessarily exclude it from being one of the best PC cases - despite the lack of built-in fans, it is fantastic for air and water cooling (check out our list of the best CPU coolers for some recommendations). This makes it a good choice for anybody seeking a case for an overclocked rig - but at the same time, it feels a bit basic, lacking, among other things, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support. Popular streamer HasanAbi called out Twitch for apparently banning viewers using a specific slur. However, he believes it’s for a different reason than we all might think. Hasan was streaming on May 20 and like always, his main focus was politics. However, for a short amount of time, he went into a discussion why a certain c-word is banned in his chat. The warden's mask hangs heavy in Harvest Hunt, a new horror FPS roguelite developed by Villainous Games Studio and published by Neonhive Games. Infused with grim pastoral horror elements and dark village lore, Harvest Hunt's experimental concept ultimately feels a tad uneven, but ambitious and interesting all the same. At its crudest, it diverts into a kind of FPS Pac-Man for stretches at a time, but its frequent randomization of rules and tools makes for fun bursts of session-based horror. View the full article
It sure sounds like X-Men '97 season 2 is happening, but Marvel's head of streaming has offered a friendly reminder of how long animation takes to make. X-Men: The Animated Series might have wrapped up almost 30 years ago, but as evidenced by the success of X-Men '97, it's clear people were hungry for more of that particular take on the beloved world of mutants. Marvel could see that success coming too, clearly, as a second season was greenlit before the show even aired. However, it is an animated series, and a lot of people just don't seem to realise how long animation takes from script to screen. In a recent interview with [Hidden Content], Marvel streaming boss Brad Winderbaum gave an update as to where X-Men '97 season 2 is at, so that people can put their expectations in the right place. "It's still an animatic phase. Animation takes so long to make as I'm sure you know. There was a great bit about this in Invincible Season 2," Winderbaum explained, referencing a scene in the Prime Video series that pokes a bit of lighthearted fun at the animation process. They just nailed it so hard, it is the greatest. And it takes a long time. Because the studio wants to see how successful the first season is before they greenlight the second season there's a lag. We were lucky enough to get the greenlight before we aired so there's maybe less of a lag. People are just going to have to be patient with us." Read more View the full article
After what many VALORANT players would consider a lifetime, Riot Games finally unveiled its first look at the upcoming replay system. Although monumental news, there was also a caveat that might disappoint longtime players—the system is far from ready and will need a lot more time to perfect. In a new developer video, VALORANT tech lead Marcus Reid showed off the first iteration of the replay system, with some quick fly-bys on a free cam during a recorded match. This prototype looked rather simple, with a pause and play button, a toggle cursor option, the ability to cycle through agents, hiding the UI, and activating free cam and agent overlays. VALORANT‘s upcoming 8.11 patch, set to arrive in early June, will focus primarily on drastically increasing the diversity of the duelist role, via a plethora of buffs and nerfs the devs hope will better balance the agents in that role. Notably, Raze will receive some nerfs that are “focused on her satchel ability,” as she’s been “an overly dominant pick in this space,” according to product manager Coleman Palm in the latest VALORANT dev diary.
