Love Spy x Family? Love cool action? Then you're probably going to be a fan of Sakamoto Days, which just received confirmation that it's getting an anime. Sakamoto Days has long proven itself as a successful comedy action manga, so of course many of its fans were hoping that it would be getting an anime somewhere along the line. And now, it was announced yesterday that TMS Entertainment, known for a huge rage of series like Undead Unluck, Dr. Stone, Detective Conan, Sonic X, and a whole lot more, would be handling the anime adaptation of the popular series. The first trailer for the anime was released too, which gave a brief look at what you can expect from the anime. Viz Media describes the series: "Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the ********* world or ****!" You can see why it should have some appeal for fans of Spy x Family, given the whole alternative family dynamic, though it should have a bit more action than the Forger family comedy series. Ok, so Helldivers 2 got a fresh Major Order yesterday, and it looks like it could well kick off the chain of events that leads to the Illuminate finally showing up in game, following plenty of speculation. Or, at least that's what a lot of players think could happen if they manage to let Super Earth's scientists unleash some Dark Fluid on Meridia. Yeah, it would seem that, following the arrival of the dual-autocannon EXO-49 Emancipator exosuit as a reward for the game's community successfully completing its previous mission directive from Arrowhead, things aren't about to get any less exciting any time soon. Even if none of the interesting stratagem pitches former CEO Johan Pilestedt was soliciting the other day happen to become a reality in the next little bit. So, what is this latest Major Order? Well, it's about securing three planets - Fenrir 3, Angel's Venture, and Turing - clearing a path so that Super Earth scientists can target the Terminind supercolony on Meridia with some weaponised "Dark Fluid". So far, so quite normal, though as the tweet from Arrowhead that accompanied the order's arrival revealed, this fluid is, er, a bit dangerous, having already caused some scientists to be "spaghettified" by a mini-****** *****. At intervals in our relentless battles with the Maw, we lose people. Sometimes, it's because those people have succeeded in levelling up out of games journalism, or found their way into another echelon of the craft. Other times, the losses are more abrupt and arbitrary. In each case, one short term response is intensification. Those of us who remain must be rockier, paperier and more shotgun than ever before. With that in mind, here are this (four-day) week's new PC games of note. Read more View the full article

Ghost in the Shell is coming back, this time with a new series from the studio behind Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Most people will know Ghost in the Shell from its original classic '90s cyberpunk film directed by the legendary Mamoru Oshii - it's an iconic piece of animation, and did go on to spawn various sequel films and series too. But as good as the original film is, it isn't actually all that similar to the original manga by Masamune Shirow. The manga is a lot sillier for one, with protagonist Motoko Kusanagi being a lot more comedic than she is in the film, and for two it's also a lot… raunchier, we'll just say. And now, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Devilman Crybaby studio Science Saru has announced its working on a new anime series based on the manga due to release some time in 2026. Pretty much nothing outside of its existence and release year have been confirmed, but a small teaser trailer was released, which you can watch above. I bring up the manga because all of the art is directly pulled from it, making me think that Science Saru's adaptation will be a lot closer to the original book. I certainly hope so, Science Saru as a studio have released some really wonderfully unique and fun works over the years, so it'd be a perfect fit for the goofier elements of the original manga. Obviously 2026 is still two years away though, so it'll be a while before we even get a proper trailer for the series. Read more View the full article

Following the enormous success of the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes, Capcom has turned its attention to remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica. That’s according to a Twitter/X report by Dusk Golem, who said remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica are “in development right now.” IGN can corroborate that Zero and Code Veronica are the next two Resident Evil remakes scheduled to release. Capcom is yet to comment on the reports. Resident Evil Zero first launched on the GameCube in 2002 as a prequel to 1996’s Resident Evil. It covers the events surrounding the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team in the Arklay Mountains, with the player switching between police officer Rebecca Chambers and convicted former Force Reconnaissance Officer Billy Coen. Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster came out in 2016 before releases on Nintendo Switch in 2019. Code Veronica, meanwhile, originally released for the Dreamcast in 2000 as the fourth mainline Resident Evil game and the first in the series to launch on a non-PlayStation console. It stars Claire Redfield and her brother Chris Redfield as they battle to survive an outbreak in a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean. Code: Veronica ditched the pre-rendered backgrounds of previous Resident Evil games to use real-time 3D environments with dynamic camera movement. The game was remastered for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and is available to play via backwards compatibility It should come as no surprise to learn that more Resident Evil remakes are on the way, after Capcom indicated as much in December last year — although at the time it stopped short of announcing which games would be next. At a PlayStation partner awards event in Japan, attended and translated by IGN Japan, Resident Evil 4 remake director Yasuhiro Anpo said the company would announce its next Resident Evil remake in due course. “Yes,” Anpo replied when asked if Capcom wanted to keep making Resident Evil remakes. “We’ve released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well. Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more. “What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it.” Meanwhile, Capcom is also working on the next mainline Resident Evil game, currently dubbed Resident Evil 9 by fans. However, Capcom’s next triple-A release is Monster Hunter Wilds, due out at some point in 2025. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. A well-rounded comms system is essential in multiplayer games, but in tactical shooters, it’s absolutely indispensable. While Ubisoft included voice chat support in its latest free-to-play hit, XDefiant, it missed out on adding a crucial feature: callout pings. Luckily, though, they should be coming soon. In a tweet on May 25, Mark Rubin, Executive Producer for XDefiant at Ubisoft San Francisco, confirmed that a comms ping system is currently “in the works.” View the full article

With how hugely successful Larian Studio’s Game of the Year hit Baldur’s Gate 3 ended up being, it surprised many fans to hear they would be sheathing the sword instead of making Baldur’s Gate 4—though the sequel was discussed at one stage.
