  1. Genshin Impact‘s developers have reverted a highly contested change to Neuvillette’s charged attacks—and players can expect great rewards in compensation. Neuvillette is one of Genshin Impacts’ most powerful five-star units, capable of using his Charged ******* to launch massive blasts of water that deal consistent damage. However, many PC players combined this ability with high DPI on their mouse to spin around and deal damage in a 360-degree area, something the developers attempted to rectify. 2. One of the best things about Baldur's Gate 3 is how well it translates the strengths of Dungeons & Dragons into video game form, but it's not able to recapture everything that makes the tabletop game great. From the lack of a dungeon master to limits on levels and spells, wrangling everything into a manageable package requires some limitations. At the same time, Baldur's Gate 3 is also capable of having its own unique perks, and one upcoming addition to the game could be a nice benefit of that sort. View the full article
  3. Until the end of July, you can save $12 on Nintendo’s retro gamepads. | Image: Nintendo If you’re looking for a more authentic way to set a new speedrunning record when Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition launches tomorrow, Nintendo’s now offering a 20 percent discount on its wireless NES gamepads, bringing the price down from $59.99 to $47.99 for a pair of them. The promotion runs until July 31st, so you’ve got a few weeks to take advantage of the deal. However, the controllers are only available to those with a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership — and the free trial doesn’t count. You’ll need to log in with your Switch credentials to buy them through Nintendo’s online store, and Nintendo is limiting sales to four sets of two NES controllers. 4. Destiny 2’s Echoes Act Two brought more story developments, which take place as part of the A Rising Chorus: Act Two quest. This storyline continues to breach the mystery of the Conductor and takes guardians deeper through Nessus in new Battlegrounds activities. Once you’ve collected Code Mutations and finished both Battlegrounds Delve and Conduit, however, your progress may come to a halt. This is intended: You’re not supposed to progress the A Rising Chorus: Act Two quest past a certain point until the next resets roll around. View the full article

  6. Foxhole has always been one of the most unique games in the MMO space. Unlike genre mainstays World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 14, or Lost Ark, Foxhole looks outside of the fantasy realm for inspiration, basing its online play on a grim chapter of real world history, with enormous clashes between armies fought in a setting that resembles World War II battlefields. This has always made it a compelling concept, but, thanks to a new patch that further refines and adds onto the base game and its Naval Warfare update, Foxhole is drumming up even more interest on Steam. 10. Mario[/i] over and over... and over... and over."> Enlarge / Get ready to repeat this ~25-second slice of Mario over and over... and over... and over. [/url] If you've ever seen a record-breaking video game speedrun or watched a Games Done Quick marathon, you may have entertained fantasies that you, too, could put up some decent times on your favorite old games. Sure, it'd probably take a bit of practice, but what these speedrunners are doing doesn't look that difficult, does it? How hard can it be to press a few buttons with good timing for a few minutes? After spending a few weeks with Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, I no longer think that way. The game's *****-size chunks of classic Nintendo games highlight the level of precision needed for even a few minutes of speedrunning perfection, not to mention the tedium of practicing the same in-game motions dozens of times to build up the needed muscle memory. In the process, I gained a newfound respect for the skill displayed by the best speedrunners and found a fresh way to experience some classic NES games that I felt I knew backward and forward. Gotta go fast While Nintendo World Championships draws its name from a series of competitions dating back to 1990, it draws its inspiration much more directly from the more recent rise of the online speedrunning community. Thus, the game's main single-player mode is named "Speedrun," tasking players with putting up the fastest times in 150 mini-challenges spread across 13 different, Nintendo-developed NES titles. 13. Controversial political commentator and streamer Steven “Destiny” Bonnell was recently banned by Kick, his primary streaming platform. The company cited “hate speech” as the reason. Another popular streamer, Asmongold, has now condemned Kick’s decision, labeling it “asymmetrical” and hypocritical. “I disagree with this, I don’t think he should be banned,” Asmongold said during a July 17 stream. He added how Kick allows “people that are committing felonies” to stream with no issue, making its approach to Destiny hypocritical. The streamer agreed that Destiny’s actions warranted some response, believing it would have been more appropriate to take away sponsorship deals and partnerships rather than outright removing him from the platform. 18. Late last year saw the launch of a remastered version of the 2001 Stronghold in the form of Stronghold Definitive Edition. Though the work that creator FireFly Studios put into making the classic strategy game look and feel much more modern makes it a solid choice for players, the 2013 Stronghold HD is a slightly less overhauled - and more immediately nostalgic - version of the original that's well worth a look as well. Even better, anyone who's looking to pick up a genre standout that rivalled contemporaries like Starcraft, Warcraft 3, and Homeworld can do so for very cheap, with Stronghold HD currently discounted to less than $2 on Steam. You're the lynchpin of the entire group and if you should place an ****** in the wrong position, grab aggro from the wrong thing, or simply **** - your team is looking at a wipe. 21. If games are especially good at one thing, it's testing players' ability to figure out survival methods in harsh environments. Strategy projects like Frostpunk, Homeworld, Against the Storm, and Manor Lords all take place in settings, whether stretches of unforgiving wilderness or the lifeless outer reaches of space, that demand careful planning. Their premise is a natural fit for the genre, lending an inherent drama to the logistical challenges of founding and taking care of groups of people. It also seems to be a popular one, given that new space strategy game The Crust, which takes place on the surface of the moon, is already attracting a healthy player base and positive reviews on Steam. 24. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Steam Deck is my favorite gaming device of all time. Look, I have nothing but love for my yellowing SNES or the Xbox 360 in storage in my basement. My PS5 is a powerful machine that delivers crisp 4K visuals, and my Switch provides the delights only Nintendo can whip up in its phenomenal software. But the Steam Deck? With its perfect mix of power and portability, it fits my dad lifestyle better than any other platform. It’s a great handheld gaming PC on its own, but a few additions go a long way toward making it even better. And thanks to Prime Day, you can save some cash while picking up some of the best Steam Deck accessories. 1TB MicroSD Card for $67.88 (48% Off) Anyone who’s agonized over which Steam Deck version to get knows that Valve charges an arm and a leg for extra onboard storage space. Regardless of which model you choose, adding more storage is usually a no-brainer. This 1TB microSD card adds a ton of space at a near all-time low price. Find more storage options with these Prime Day deals on microSD cards 65W Baseus Power Bank for $36.10 (61% Off) If there's one universal drawback to the Steam Deck, it's the battery life when playing resource-hungry games. While the OLED model offers more playtime, you can't go wrong by adding a power bank to your to-go bag. Enter promo code N4W8A2FE and this one drops to less than half price for Prime Day. Check out more power banks on ***** for Prime Day Jsaux Steam Deck Dock for $31.99 (20% Off) I have this dock, and it works great for charging my Steam Deck and for playing games on the TV when the mood strikes. A docked Steam Deck isn’t as user-friendly as a Switch, but it definitely has its uses. Jsaux Steam Deck Screen Protector for $7.99 (20% Off) We’ve all had it happen to a device before: you look at it one day and see a scratch in the screen. It’s a nightmare, because you’ll always see that scratch every time you use your Steam Deck from then on. It's kind of a pain, but the best way to prevent scratches is to apply a screen protector. This one is from Jsaux, a reliable company, and it comes with two protectors, in case one gets scratched. CRKD Gear Bag for $39.99 (20% Off) For many people, the case that comes with the Steam Deck will suit you just fine. But if you find it useful to bring along other stuff when you go out, you might want a ******* carrying case to store everything in. This gear bag from CRKD is great. It has a velcro strap to secure your device, plus plenty of space for a mouse, external battery, dock, or whatever else you want to bring. Steam Deck Tool Kit for $23.78 (15% Off) I don’t recommend cracking open your Steam Deck unless you have experience rooting through your electronic devices already. But if you’re going to do so, to upgrade your SSD, replace your thumb sticks, or whatever, this screwdriver set will let you in. Just make sure you remove your microSD card first, or you’ll snap that thing in half. And for the record, you’ll need Phillips #1 (PH1) and Phillips #0 (PH0) screwdrivers to ****** open your Deck to make any changes. Steam Deck SSDs for $75.99 (34% Off) Once you have your Steam Deck open, you can swap in a new SSD. This is a more affordable way to boost your storage than paying Valve for the increase. But again, I’d advise against tinkering with your Deck unless you have some experience cracking things open. You might damage the device, and then you can’t play anything, which would be a travesty.
