  1. The latest update for Fallout 4 finally added one of the franchise's most notorious factions to the game and with the help of mods, The Enclave has never been more prevalent throughout the Commonwealth. The game's recent next-gen patch may have inadvertently broken many of the community's most popular mods but the addition of the sinister government organization that plagued the Capital Wasteland was received well by both old fans and new. Unfortunately, The Enclave is only really prevalent for a single quest, so it's a good thing there's a way to make them more pronounced. View the full article

  6. XDefiant developer Ubisoft is looking at ways of mitigating "spamming behavior" in the multiplayer FPS, with techniques like jump shotting being rebalanced to stop overuse while still encouraging players to master the Call of Duty rival's movement. With the shooter still in the early days, there are going to be lots of changes, fixes, and improvements to help balance out the overall meta, so I wouldn't expect this rebalance to be the last one we see. 7. Cyberpunk 2077 is already a stunning game by default, but it doesn't have to be capped at the generic specifications. In the nearly four years since its release, some players have developed mods to make the game almost indistinguishable from real life. Whether the mods are designed to improve specific things like water or more overarching fixes that apply to resolution and frame rate, the community has gotten quite creative to enhance the experience. 9. Ubisoft has announced a $9.99 a month membership for its shooter Rainbow Six Siege — and it’s not going down well with the core fanbase. Rainbow Six Siege, which is not a free-to-play game, recently revealed the second season of Year 9, dubbed Operation New Blood, and with it Ubisoft also introduced the R6 Membership. Here’s the official blurb from Ubisoft: Active Membership holders will enjoy monthly drops of exclusive content that includes time-limited gear, animated Legendary skins, 10x Battle level skips, a Bravo Pack and access to the Premium Battle Pass for $9.99/month or a discounted $79.99/year. It’s safe to say this membership has not gone down well with core Siege fans, many of whom are pointing out that the game costs money to buy and already has various microtransactions as well as a battle pass. As revealed by a TikTok clip posted by Royza Gaming, below, the announcement of the R6 Membership specifically was booed by fans during the BLAST R6 Major Manchester 2024 event for Rainbow Six Siege that took place over the weekend. @royzagaming New siege membership #r6 #r6siege #r6update #royzagaming ♬ original sound - Royza blockquote.tiktok-embed[data-video-id='7373343581811133704'] { width: 325px; margin-left: 0; } blockquote.tiktok-embed iframe { border-radius: 8px; } Another clip posted by redditor I-Am-Bodge also showed the booing at the R6 Membership announcement. According to I-Am-Bodge, when a prerecorded video announced the R6 Membership, some in the audience chanted “greedy bastards.” Siege isn’t the first live service to offer a premium membership, but it compares poorly to those from other games in terms of value. The R6 Membership is even being compared unfavorably to the Fortnite Crew subscription, which is for a free-to-download game. "Although yeah you can simply ignore it (and I'm aware this system isn't tailored for people like me for example), that doesn't take away to how ********is both the intention of making a subscription at the life-point of this game and overall how bad of a deal it is," redditor Jesus_PK commented. There are now calls to boycott the R6 Membership, although such calls have been met with scepticism by many within the community. As Rainbow Six Siege nears its 10th year on *****, Ubisoft is under pressure to continue to grow money made from the game, just as other publishers are with their own live services. But it will also be mindful of community sentiment, and the strength of feeling from some core players about how the game is monetized now and in the future. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. 12. It seems like almost a given that Capcom is currently developing Resident Evil 9 but the latest reports regarding the sequel suggest it could still be a while before it is unveiled. Given the level of quality seen in the previous Resident Evil releases, those being Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake, one can't blame the community for becoming increasingly more excited about the next mainline game. Rumors have swirled that the ninth chapter in the saga will feature some major changes to the standard formula which may be why it's already being delayed. View the full article

  16. Nier: Automata Ver 1.1a, the anime adaptation of the beloved Square Enix game, is finally coming back this July. Last year saw the arrival of the Nier: Automata anime, a series obviously highly anticipated by fans of the series, but one that suffered from some serious production issues. It started airing in January, but the fourth episode was delayed by almost an entire month for COVID related reasons, and then episodes 9-12 were delayed from March all the way to July, again because of COVID. It was a rough go for the anime, but this coming July will see the return of the series with a second season (well, technically a second cour, but it's being referred to as season 2). The first trailer for Nier: Automata Ver 1.1a dropped earlier today, offering a look at the upcoming season, which you can check out below. The new season also has a new opening theme, ****** Box by LiSA, a singer whose work you'll probably recognise from the first ****** Slayer opening, as well as the theme for the ********* release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It should pick up where the first season left off, which is roughly where the game's first ending wraps up, so those of you that have only watched the anime and haven't actually played the games should potentially expect some amount of repetition, given the game's themes. 17. Ubisoft recently unveiled a monthly subscription service—dubbed “R6 membership”—for its long-running competitive tactical shooter, Rainbow 6 Siege. And, as you probably guessed, it got Siege fans absolutely riled up. The R6 membership announcement came paired with the reveal of Operation New Blood on stage at the BLAST R6 Major Manchester 2024 event for Rainbow Six Siege. While the new operation had a lukewarm reception, the monthly subscription service clearly didn’t sit well with fans. The announcement video was drowned out by boos from the live crowd at the LAN event (check out the live reaction video on TikTok captured by Royza Gaming). Reception from the online community isn’t much different, either. View the full article

  20. Star Citizen has now raised over $700 million according to figures from developer Cloud Imperium Games. The developer behind the controversial space sim makes revenue publicly available on its website, which at the time of this article’s publication shows Star Citizen has raised $701,186,615. CIG calls this money “funds raised.” CIG even breaks down the revenue by recent months, weeks, and hours. At its lowest point on the morning of May 28, Star Citizen brought in $42,886 in one hour, about $1.5 million yesterday, May 27, $10,883,513 last week, and $4,753,264 for the month of April (things appear to have picked up considerably in May after the launch of the Alpha 3.23: Adventure Beckons update). Star Citizen is considered one of the most controversial projects in all video games. Over the 12 years since its crowdfunding drive began, it's been called many things including a scam by those who wonder whether it will ever properly launch. Its virtual space ships, some of which cost hundreds of dollars, are often the focus of criticism. Alpha 3.23 launched two months after CIG began talking about Star Citizen’s 1.0 launch being within sight, over a decade after the game released its first crowdfunding drive. CIG chief Chris Roberts has said 2024 will see the launch of Star Citizen Alpha 4.0, and that the developer is working to bring features developed for Squadron 42, the standalone story-based game starring the likes of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson, to the persistent universe portion of the game “at an accelerated rate”. This is all building up to Star Citizen 1.0, which, Roberts has said, “is what we consider the features and content set to represent ‘commercial’ release.” However, there is still no release date or even release window for Star Citizen 1.0. CIG will share the roadmap later this year, it has said. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. 23. Zenless Zone Zero finally has a confirmed release date after many months of speculation and a few leaks and there. The game will be releasing on all platforms - PC, mobile, and PS5 - on July 4 worldwide. This massive drop was simply posted on social media, rather than the typical flare expected from HoYoVerse - a company known for throwing out trailers for Zenless Zone Zero quite often over the past few months. In the public statement, the company states the following. "Thank you for your ongoing interest in and support of Zenless Zone Zero. Zenless Zone Zero officially releases on all platforms on July 4. We look forward to meeting you on Sixth Street when entry to New Eridu is granted." Alongside this announcement comes a fun little competition, in which a select few can win PS5's, mechanical keyboards, and character stands before June 3. Read more View the full article
