  2. Kicking dudes never gets old in videogames, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic nailed it all the way back in 2006. There have been pretenders to the throne since, but the newly announced The Nightscarred: Forgotten Gods wants to continue Arkane's legacy with an incredible combat system and plenty of first-person action. If you've been looking for an action RPG that gives you full control over how you ******, look no further. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

  5. A Quiet Place is a very solid horror movie that seemed primed for a video game adaptation from the off. After all, it already had all the ingredients of a video game right there: the whole film is essentially one overlong stealth mission with a punishing fail state - any crunchy glass or other noise would immediately draw the attention of deadly alien monsters - and at one point there’s a whiteboard with the narrative equivalent of ***** Space’s “CUT OFF THEIR LIMBS” graffiti scrawled on it. Lo and behold, we’re getting a Quiet Place video game. Read more View the full article
  6. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 is still months away from its global release, but one of the featured new mechanics is already on the competitive chopping block. According to a clip from Toronto Ultra player Thomas “Scrap” Ernst’s stream, the new “omnimovement” system set to feature prominently in the upcoming Call of Duty release could end up on the Gentlemen’s Agreement list in pro play. This means that while it would be in the game, pro players would effectively agree not to use it. View the full article
  7. Romance in Baldur's Gate 3 isn't often a particularly tricky affair, but affairs of the heart can get a lot more troublesome when playing as the Dark Urge. With a simmering inclination toward acts of senseless *********, the Dark Urge Origin option presents the choice to ****** against bad impulses or embrace them for a chaotic campaign. This can be one of the most interesting ways to play Baldur's Gate 3, and part of that comes from how complicated it makes relationships with party members and other NPCs. View the full article
  8. Of all the new content Valheim received in the Ashlands update, players are most curious about how to tame and mount an Askvin. Although you can't jump or ******* while riding these ferocious beasts, they boast a good chunk of health and can hold up their own in a ******. So, if you're looking for a new mount fit to back you up against every new ****** in Valheim's Ashland update, you can't go wrong with taming an Askvin. View the full article
  9. What is the Diablo 4 Spiritborn class? When it comes to dispatching demonic enemies, there are multiple flavors of destruction in Diablo 4. You can take a utilitarian approach to *******, opting for heavy objects to ***** in the skulls of your enemies, or you can go a more mystical route, weaving spells and raising the ***** to do your ****** work. It's all about self-expression, and with the newest D4 expansion, it looks like you'll be able to add a new string to your metaphorical bow. The Diablo 4 DLC release date draws ever nearer, and we're hungrily gobbling up any bits of information we can get our hands on. One of the most intriguing additions coming with Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred is the new class: The Spiritborn. There isn't much to go off right now, however, Blizzard is planning a full class reveal on July 18. Until then, we're taking a look at the rumors and potential leaks to speculate on the Diablo 4 Spiritborn class. Read the rest of the story... 11. Image: Secret Mode The sea is basically the blue skin of the world, yet we know so little of its depths. Much like the vastness of space, it is filled with mystery. With both comes the unknown — and, therefore, horror. In Still Wakes the Deep, the latest first-person horror from The ******** Room, the sea births a mysterious ******* that takes over an oil rig, and its workers must ****** to survive. Somewhere in the middle of the ocean, players are introduced to protagonist McLearly, a Scottish oil rig’s troublesome electrician. From the beginning, I was incredibly impressed by the voice acting, writing, and performance. Most of the crew are Glaswegians, who use colloquial terms and slang, which the game warns can be “translated” by turning on subtitles.... Continue reading… View the full article

  13. Larian Studios will seemingly stop releasing major updates for beloved role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 after official mod support becomes available in September 2024. As reported by Eurogamer, Larian CEO Swen Vincke said at BAFTA's An Evening with Baldur's Gate 3 event that he and the team "really want to move forward and do new things" so players "will see the level of support diminished to really critical bug fixes." Vincke explained: "One of the big things for us, and the one that we're really working towards now, is the ability for players to mod [Baldur's Gate 3] themselves, because then they will be able to make their own things, and I think that will be the point where we're going to say 'ok, now it's yours fully'." [Players] will see the level of support diminished to really critical bug fixes. Larian will then switch its focus to its upcoming projects that aren't continuations of the franchise or even set within the Dungeons & Dragons universe, but Vincke insisted the studio is "still working as if the game was just out" for now. "We're working on our new thing, we're super excited about the new games," he said. "We're creative spirits also. We don't want to keep on doing the same thing; we really want to move forward and do new things." Official mod support comes to all versions of the game through Patch 7, and while Larian has already teased some big additions for Baldur's Gate 3's anniversary on July 29, 2024, the September update will seemingly be the last one to make major changes to the game. Larian has made thousands of changes to Baldur's Gate 3 since it was released, from small bug fixes to huge changes like the addition of a new epilogue (and new and randomised kisses). In our 10/10 review of the game, IGN said: "With crunchy, tactical RPG combat, a memorable story with complex characters, highly polished cinematic presentation, and a world that always rewards exploration and creativity, Baldur's Gate 3 is the new high-water mark for CRPGs." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article
  14. Star Citizen[/i] still has some really pretty ships..."> Enlarge / For an unreleased game, Star Citizen still has some really pretty ships... (credit: RSI) [/url] At this point in Star Citizen's drawn-out, 11-plus-year development cycle, we're usually reminded of the game when it hits some crowdfunding microtransaction milestone or updates its increasingly convoluted alpha development roadmap. So last week's announcement that developer Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) has banned over 600 cheaters from its servers is a notable reminder that some people are actually enjoying—and exploiting—the unpolished alpha version of the game. Shortly after the May release of Star Citizen's Alpha 2.23.1 update, players started noticing that they could easily make extra money by storing a freight ship, selling their cargo, and then returning to the ship to find the cargo ready to be sold a second time. As knowledge of this "money doubling" exploit spread, players reported that the price of basic in-game resources saw significant inflation in a matter of days. Now, Cloud Imperium Games Senior Director of Player Relations Will Leverett has written that the developer has investigated "multiple exploits within Star Citizen that compromised stability and negatively impacted the in-game economy." In doing so, CIG says it "identified and suspended over 600 accounts involved in exploitative behaviors while also removing the illicitly gained aUEC [in-game currency] from the Star Citizen ecosystem." 16. What are Elden Ring Scadutree Fragments? Historically, balancing difficulty has been one of the key issues with making DLC for games such as Dark Souls. This time, though, the open-ended design of Elden Ring and the sheer power available to the player-controlled Tarnished is vast. So to keep things balanced, Shadow of the Erdtree introduces two new items, and one of them directly affects the player's stats. Seeking these shards in Elden Ring will take time, patience, and a keen eye, and the same can be said for the Elden Ring Revered Spirit Ashes. That said, there's plenty you can do ahead of the RPG game's DLC launch to improve your survival rate. Make sure you find the best Elden Ring weapons in the base game to craft the finest Elden Ring builds for your chosen playstyle; you're probably going to need all the help you can get. 19. Fallout 4 has been enjoying a huge resurgence in popularity thanks to Amazon's television adaptation. Of course, as with any Bethesda game, players are modding it constantly, so much so that the NexusMods servers recently struggled with the influx of new players. 23. Recently, the Resident Evil 4 Remake sparked discussion around the prevalence of yellow paint in videogames. 25. Remember Lords of the Fallen? No, not that one. This one. Last year’s reboot of the 2014 game of exactly the same name - despite the successor originally being a numbered sequel, then at least having a ‘The’ at the start of its title to help tell them apart a little - will now get its own follow-up in a third Lords of the Fallen game. The upcoming sequel doesn’t have a name yet, but I really hope they stick with the bit and just call it “Lords of the Fallen” again. Read more View the full article
