Hm. Hmmmm. Right. So, what have we got here? There’s my Blood Donor card, which reduces the value of the hearts I play, but also heals me. That’s fine, actually. Reduced score means I can squeeze in another card for more healing. If I can pull my Tarot card, I'll deal damage with each heal, and I’ve already pulled two scratch cards for yet more quick damage. Now, if I can just pull a Jack, I can plonk down the King Of Space And Time for a brutal finisher. That’ll transfer everything on my side over to my opponent’s, forcing a bust for a nice final chunk of hurt and… Read more View the full article

WolfEye's debut game Weird West attempted to pack a little of Dishonored's immersive sim sorcery into a root-and-tootin top-down action-RPG. For the studio's next game, co-founders Raphaël Colantonio and Julien Roby are leaning into comparisons with their old endeavours at Arkane more earnestly. The new game - currently untitled and without a release date - is a first-person sci-fi RPG set in an alternate-1900s North America, which ostensibly combines the ingenuity and gadgetry of Dishonored and Prey with a "real RPG" experience redolent of Skyrim and modern-day Fallout. You can access eight characters, three karts, and three race tracks in the demo, but many players are already out looking for easter eggs that lead to more. View the full article
2XKO’s first alpha test drops on Aug. 8, and you won’t know if you were one of the few lucky souls to be accepted into it until later on in the day. You aren’t guaranteed a spot to try the game even if you signed up for the 2XKO alpha lab. A long time ago the land of Embervale was a beautiful place, filled with busy towns and settlements scattered across its rich, intricate landscape. Those were good times for as long as they lasted, but then the shroud descended and the monsters took over, leaving behind a deadly mist in the lowlands and dangerous creatures everywhere. Embervale is empty now, with only a few people left sleeping in pods found in remote sections of the realm, and the towns lie in ruins. It's a terrible place to be, which hasn't stopped three million players from carving out a new homestead or two in Enshrouded's hostile but somehow welcoming landscape. View the full article
For a camouflage-style pattern, it’s far from the most try-hard. | Image: Corsair I’m rarely a ******* for camouflage-print anything, but put it on a game controller and turn it ******-and-white and suddenly it warms my heart — especially if it’s a solid deal. That’s just the case with this custom Scuf Instinct Pro controller in a ****** tiger camo finish, which is on a clearance ***** at Best Buy for $155.99 ($84 off). [/url] The Instinct Pro is an excellent step-up controller over the standard Xbox gamepad, as it’s nearly the same great controller with some nice upgrades. It supports the wireless connectivity built into Xbox Series X / S consoles and of course can be used on PC — just like the stock controller — but it also features four rear paddle buttons built into the chassis of the gamepad and lockouts for the shoulder... J.J. Abrams might not be liked much in certain places online after The Rise of Skywalker (a so-called franchise-******* that didn't even ***** the prospect of more sequels), but he ******** an effective producer and filmmaker, and while he's been sticking to producer roles for a while, he's ready to get back in the director's chair. Now, we're starting to learn who will be joining him. Via Deadline, we've discovered that Wednesday and Beetlejuice 2 star Jenna Ortega is in advanced talks to join the cast alongside Twisters and Top ****: Maverick's Glen Powell, another name we've been hearing over and over again as of late. It comes as no surprise that top acting talent wants to work with Abrams, who's helmed two Star Trek and two Star Wars movies, on top of a successful reinvigoration of the Mission: Impossible franchise and Super 8, and that's without counting his many achievements on the TV side of things and all the stuff he's helped get off the ground through Bad ******. Like it or not, he ******** a huge name in Hollywood, and rising stars such as Ortega and Powell have very little to lose by teaming up with him (likely) to make a crowd-pleaser. Spaceship likers, come hither. Long-running space sim Elite Dangerous has just unloaded a new interstellar vessel into its universe, and she's a beaut. The new Type-8 Transporter is a medium freighter capable of hauling a maximum of 406 tons of cargo. It's got a default jump range of 17.55 light years and two big prongs sticking out of its face like a sci-fi forklift. Cool. The catch is that this ship can only be bought with real money for now, say the developers. This is part of Frontier's new strategy of having paid-for ships in the game. I don't really play Elite Dangerous anymore, so I don't have strong feelings about that. But I do have strong feelings about the space trucker advertisement the developer has put together for the new ship. Come watch it with me. Read more View the full article

In 2022, Squanch Games released High on Life, a comedy-packed first-person shooter where your guns talk to you. The game was loosely inspired by Rick and Morty, and soon, it’s getting its own animated series adaptation. Emmy winner J.B. Smoove is reported to produce the series, according to Deadline. It’s apparently being developed by Squanch Games (co-founded by Justin Roiland, who also co-created Rick and Morty), Striker Entertainment, and Alternate Side Productions, Smoove’s production company. The latter will be responsible for creating the animated series, while the game’s developers and Striker Entertainment’s Mandy Bardisbanian and Russell Binder are executive producers. This might surprise you, but Fallout: London - the big Fallout 4 mod - is proving pretty popular among Fallout modders who aren’t part of Team FOLON. Some of the ******* New Vegas fans among them have even started bringing that game’s faction rep and disguise systems to Blighty. To be fair, some of them have already done the obvious things mod-wise, such as offering you a cure for your character’s crippling dog food addiction, and it looks like they’ll have to wait a little while to be able to enjoy Fallout: London’s cut Wild Card main quest arc, so let em have some fun in the meantime. ‘Faction Reputation and Disguise System’ by Invatorzen looks to be the most comprehensive attempt so far at allowing you to officially have it confirmed that you’re the most vilified individual in London, rather than just knowing so because every NPC won’t stop ********* at you. Fortunately, developer Team FOLON has announced a major patch that should fix many issues—but it won’t arrive until hotfixes have been rolled out. On Aug. 6, on Team FOLON’s Discord, the development team addressed the community and the numerous issues that have been reported since Fallout: London‘s release on July 25. The developer promised a bunch of hotfixes and a massive patch, though, no release date for either was revealed. View the full article
While it's not a revolutionary case, the new NZXT H7 Flow RGB (2024) makes a significant tweak to the original model released two years ago, with a vertical PSU mount. This means the main chamber now has loads of room for water-cooling radiators, large graphics cards, and CPU coolers, in a surprisingly small footprint. The $150 RGB model also includes a 360mm fan frame with three 120mm fans embedded in it, which looks great with RGB lighting shining through the front mesh panel. This market is crowded when it comes to finding the best PC case options between $100 and $150, but NZXT has done an excellent job in making the H7 Flow RGB (2024) distinctive and attractive enough to stand out from the crowd. It sits atop front and rear ledges to raise its lower flush fan mount off your desk, and the clear side panel nearly spans from top to bottom. The interior also looks particularly clean, thanks to the exterior panels acting as dust filters, which further boosts this case's support for large radiators. If you want to water cool your PC with multiple radiators, or just use a large AIO cooler or air cooler for your CPU, there's massive potential here for both camps, and I'll be looking at how well its three included 120mm fans perform. This case's features focus on making it as easy as possible to build a gaming PC, including providing tool-free panels, as you'd expect from a premium PC case. The vertical PSU mount makes a profound difference compared to the original H7 Flow as well, releasing the whole of the base for fans and radiators in a similar way to a dual chamber case, but without the massive footprint. It's no secret that Warner Bros. Discovery has been one of the most headache-inducing results of a massive merger in recent times (and the competition is fierce in that arena). From completely shelving essentially finished movies for tax write-offs to drunkenly re-branding HBO Max into just Max, it's been rough in there, and now it turns out the once-blooming TV business under David Zaslav's ruthless guidance is taking a massive hit as well. I may not be great with numbers and market laws and whatnot (I wouldn't be rambling about pop culture online if I was), but I can tell when something's objectively cooked and executives are just BSing their way through generic and/or empty statements to try to maintain peace amongst hungry shareholders and investors, and the folks at Warner Bros. Discovery have been doing that bit for a while now. It's something you simply pick up after a while. Via IndieWire, it's been revealed WB Discovery's TV business, which used to be a rock-solid foundation for everything else, is actually worth "$9.1 billion less than it originally thought, leading to a net loss of $10 billion in the second quarter of 2024." This ***** comes after general disappointment with WB Games' recent financial performance, aggressive job cuts, and Zaslav gifting himself pats on the back and more bonuses instead of being booed off the company and into a *****. I’d initially assumed that puzzle game Sliding Hero counts was a Sokoban-like, until I realised that it’s actually you, not endless boxes, that do the sliding here. Still, I wasn’t entirely convinced. The only thing that’s fun to slide back-and-forth indefinitely is a lounging cat on a smooth kitchen worktop. Still, after messing around with Sliding Hero’s Steam demo, I think this one might have much longer legs than its restrictive-sounding concept suggests. All the better to endlessly slide with.
