  6. Visual fidelity isn't always the most important part of a FromSoftware project. Games like Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows **** Twice, and Dark Souls thrive on strong art direction and the atmosphere that defines their environments, though, and anything that helps players get the most out of those design elements is worth highlighting. This makes the news of a Dark Souls remaster mod, itself based on the official Dark Souls Remastered launch from several years ago, worth paying attention to - especially since the changes it brings to the FromSoft classic are so sweeping and available to check out entirely for free. 11. When it comes to the recent slew of classic horror films turned multiplayer-games, ******* Klowns from Outer Space: The Game probably wasn't at the top of anybody's list. It's closely based on the 1988 film of the same name, in which a gang of rubber mask-wearing, murderous alien clowns descend on the small town of Crescent Cove. The game adaptation matches its energy well, with voice actors delivering stilted imitations of '80s teens as they try to avoid ridiculous Klowntalities. But making a good midnight movie and making a good multiplayer game are two very different things. View the full article

Teaming up with Ubisoft for the cumbersomely-titled The Rogue Prince of Persia, the new collaboration is essentially a reskinned and rebranded version of their debut patterned after the long-running adventure franchise. With the return of MultiVersus, developer Player First Games wants to put this right, which is why Season 1 is now focused mainly on villains. 21. World of Warcraft players keep finding new ways to break Mists of Pandaria Remix, as one group recently managed to ***** Garrosh and Baine during the events of Landfall. 22. It's been a long time since something grabbed me as hard and as overwhelmingly as WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. In my university years, I would schedule alarms for 6 a.m. wake-up calls - not to ensure I made it to class, but to maximize the amount of time I had available to grind World of Warcraft reputation requirements in Wrath of the Lich King. After things at school got more time-intensive and other responsibilities took over, I gradually drifted away from WoW, entirely missing Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria along the way. 24. Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel honcho Kevin Feige have been spending the last few months admitting Marvel Studios' recent output largely hasn't been up to snuff and teasing we'll be getting less TV shows (which are also more concise) in the future. However, a (white) Vision series is happening and coming to Disney Plus. Variety broke the shocking news, which confirms the long-gestating idea, born from WandaVision's season finale, has not been dropped nor moved to a larger big-screen project. Despite the slowdown on TV productions teased time and again, a Vision-centric series is moving forward, probably tying into a movie they really want to make. Marvel has tapped Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas to cook up a project for Vision, the android still played by Paul Bettany. The new series is supposedly aiming to release in 2026, but a smooth creative process and genuinely good scripts should be required to deliver something that's worth our time. Matalas will serve as the sole showrunner unless there's one of those creative shakeups that we 'love' so much. Read more View the full article
  25. A speedrunner of Xenoblade Chronicles X managed to squeeze in one last world record before Nintendo shut down the Wii U's online servers, making it the last record ever. Last month, Nintendo did the at best quite annoying, at worst outright destructive thing of shutting down its online servers for both the Wii U and 3DS. That left numerous titles outright unplayable, and others with online modes that are no longer accessible. Xenoblade Chronicles X was one such game with an online mode, but now you can't play it anymore because of the servers being shut down. It's a lesser known entry in the beloved RPG series, but one that many hope will get a Switch port somewhere down the line (or maybe at this point a Switch 2 port). As it turns out, speedrunner YMG-C actually performed one last run of the game's online mode right before the servers shut down, and in the process beat the world record, as shared by a fan on Twitter (thanks, GamesRadar). With the Wii U's servers now offline, this also makes it impossible for anyone else to speedrun the online mode at all, meaning YMG-C will forever be the world record holder. Though, if no one else had decided to do a run before the servers shut down, it wouldn't matter much, as they were the previous world record holder anyway. Their previous record was two hours and 57 minutes long, whereas this new record is a minute shorter at two hours and 56 minutes, and that will be the record forever more. Even if the game does get a Switch port, speedrun categories will also be placed across various platforms, and with the Wii U being a generation behind, that would obviously cause discrepancies in things like load times.
