Riot has tried its hand at a lot of things to bring its already massively-popular MOBA League of Legends to a wider audience, from spinoff games to animated series and even some high-profile musical crossovers. But one area it's not interested in venturing into, for the core game at least, is the realm of user-generated content: UGC has been a massive boon for some games, but Riot doesn't see it as a good fit for League... Counter-Strike 2 may soon be looking at some incredible changes to its cosmetics and gameplay with a potential new operation, keychains, pets, and customizable agents. This and more have been suggested by renowned CS2 data miner Gabe Follower, who also dug up some interesting hints at upcoming Valve titles. Gabe Follower compiled all of his recent and most interesting findings in a June 18 video, where he highlighted several potential updates that might be around the corner, first and foremost relating to the 25th anniversary of the Counter-Strike franchise on June 19. “Now would be the perfect time for a major update,” he explained, claiming that Valve is at the very least compiling a new skin case. Another Nintendo Direct is in the books. A healthy dose of gameplay trailers and announcements were shown early this morning, and reactions from Nintendo fans have poured in. Smaller announcements that also made noise were an HD port of Donkey Kong Country Returns and a compilation of classic Capcom games in Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. Back in 2022, Steam introduced Replay, a feature in the vein of Spotify Rewind that shows what you spent the most time on throughout the preceding year. I imagine Elden Ring dominated the year for a lot of people, but mine was led by a game called Knightfall: A Daring Journey, an exceptionally silly medieval take on the popular battle royale genre. I'm sinking a lot of time into Elden Ring now, but even though I haven't touched Knightfall since 2022, there's a good chance it could claim the throne once more. View the full article

It's no secret that I've played far too many MMORPGs. From World of Warcraft to Final Fantasy 14, Lost Ark to Guild Wars 2 - if there's a high fantasy world boasting boundless exploration and PvE combat, I'm there. As my Summer Game Fest schedule began to fill up, Amazon Games and Ncsoft's Throne and Liberty was the game that rounded out an exhausting second day in the LA sun, thankfully slowing things down after high-octane shooters like Marvel Rivals. It was one I'd been looking forward to, and while it didn't entirely disappoint, it didn't quite win me over, either. Read the rest of the story... Corsair has just launched its LX RGB Series of iCUE Link PC case fans, and they're easily the most tempting yet of the company's range of single-cable fans. The new Corsair fans provide an ideal balance of RGB dazzle and affordability, bringing the possibility of a stunning gaming PC build within reach of more buyers. Corsair has previously launched its QX RGB and RX RGB iCUE Link fans, with both making a compelling case for a place on our best PC case fan guide. However, the QX RGB is quite expensive and the RX RGB is aimed at high performance rather than silence and has very basic RGB. The LX RGB should, then, be the ideal balance with more RGB than the RX, a lower price than the QX, and what should be quiet performance. Read the rest of the story... The Portal is getting a very slow trickle of software updates. | Photo by Antonio G. Di Benedetto / The Verge The PlayStation Portal is getting a couple of modest features it should have had in the first place. Sony announced on its PlayStation Blog that a software update for its handheld remote player will allow users to connect their devices to public Wi-Fi networks that require sign-in, like free ones found at hotels and cafes. Also in this update are new visual cues when you tap or swipe the emulated touchpad areas on the Portal’s screen and the option to see a battery percentage indicator in the top-right status bar. Up until now, the battery level was only indicated by some fairly vague bars, and the actual battery percentage number only shows when the Portal is fully turned off and charging. With the imminent arrival of Final Fantasy XIV‘s next expansion, Dawntrail, fans are eager to jump into the new content and explore every detail of it. Raiding groups look forward to their next challenges, but the developers’ current congestion mitigation plan could cause issues. In the lead-up to Dawntrail‘s early access launch on June 28, the Final Fantasy XIV team shared its plan to assist with keeping the login queues to a minimum. There will be a restriction on Data Center Travel until Patch 7.01, or 7.05 at the latest, depending on how the overall queues and servers struggle with players attempting to play the game. For those who regularly travel Data Centers to play with friends, it could prevent many from enjoying the next expansion together, and raiders believe this could cause issues when they attempt the new Savage encounters. Following the duelist balance changes implemented in VALORANT Patch 8.11, all eyes are on VCT to see how the revamped Iso, Neon, and Reyna will affect pro play. But while Sentinels’ Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro claims to live for the chaos, he’s not so sure many teams are willing to adapt. “I don’t think there are many teams besides LOUD or [Evil Geniuses] who will heavily shake up the meta,” Zellsis told Dot Esports prior to the start of VCT Americas stage two. “Americas has always played the meta to a T, besides a couple teams here and there who will do funny picks or some agent swaps. But I don’t think we’ll see a lot of Iso/Neon/Reyna. Some teams may throw Neon in there just because they don’t have Jett players. View the full article
