  1. Following the Fallout TV Show, we've already seen the series captialise on the swell in mainstream attention via a Fortnite collab, and now its been confirm that Call of Duty is getting one of those too on June 20. Interstingly, the fun little promotion also features a nod of sorts to one of Fallout 4's most popular quest mods. Yup, you heard it here first, Activision is just like us fr, clearly having spent hours on the Nexus trying to install about five million different things that make The Commonwealth more interesting, only to inevitably end up with some undiagnosable load order conflict. Ok, it's definitely not, but this is still a pretty neat coincidence. As outlined in the official blog post the previously leaked collab will see Price, Ghost, Soap, and Gaz get four new operator skins which are them dressed in those inconic blue and yellow vault suits, which definitely won't make you easier to spot on the battlefield. 2. It's only been a month since Furiosa: A **** Max Saga was released in cinemas, but it looks like it's already coming to digital storefronts. Furiosa is the first new **** Max film in almost a decade, and to the surprise of probably only those that know nothing about the history of the franchise, it hasn't done great at the box office. The prequel had a budget of around $168 million, but so far has only grossed a little over $160 million at the box office. While **** Max Fury: Road, which introduced Furiosa to the film's post apocalyptic universe, did comparatively better at the box office, it technically also resulted in a net loss, so these films historically haven't done all that great. And now, as spotted online, Amazon is listing Furiosa as coming releasing digitally this coming June 24. It's pretty common practice to release films digitally quite soon after their cinema release, particularly if they're not doing well, but it does kind of undercut Furiosa's ability to pick itself up across the rest of the summer. Furiosa was released in cinemas May 24, so this literally will mark a whole month exactly before it winds up on digital platforms. It's a bit of a shame particularly considering it has done well critically - our own Fran enjoyed it plenty, even if it felt a bit bloated occasionally. Read more View the full article
  3. After the recent cancellation of Life By You by Paradox Interactive, one of the development team members expressed their disappointment after being ***** off from the company and learning about the news through a public announcement. “Today, I am devastated to announce that for the second time in two years, my game has been cancelled, and I’ve been ***** off. And this time it was a real ***** show, ya’ll,” Willem Delventhal said on LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7208887303224606720/on June 19, who was working on making Life By You a reality. 4. When I wrote our Still Wakes The Deep review I mentioned the true-to-life Scottish slang used by the oil rig workers of this North Sea horror. It was wonderful, but all these slang terms were being translated in the subtitles for some reason. "Gobshite" became "bastard". The "polis" were localised as the "police". And every "yersel" sneering out of the machismo-ridden workers became "yourself". Well, turns out that's the result of the game defaulting to "International English" for its captions. But if you want to immerse yourself in Scottish vernacular as deeply as protagonist Caz McCleary immerses himself in hazardous chemical spills, good news. There's another option, says one of the game's developers. Read more View the full article

  8. There is very little in this world that would get between me and playing an RPG made by Final Fantasy dad Hironobu Sakaguchi, double for one with a soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu. Unless, of course, that game was exclusive to Apple Arcade, which Fantasian has been since its 2021 release. I will not speak poorly of Apple, for I already have several other cults out for my blood. Instead, I’ll simply celebrate the fact that, as per Tuesday’s Nintendo DIrect, the game that Sakaguchi developed “thinking it could be [his] final game before retiring” is coming to PC later this year, in ‘Neo Dimension’ form. Have a trailer. Read more View the full article
  9. Revealed at yesterday's Nintendo Direct stream - but absolutely coming to PC because there's a Steam page for it - The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy seems like a mash-up of visual novel and ***** Emblem-y RPG battles on grids. And it's by the folks behind Danganronpa and Zero Escape, which means there will be lots of consequences and decisions that lead to copious amounts of despair, no matter how you finish the game apparently. If there's one thing that really gets me going, it's a game devoid of happiness and cheer. Read more View the full article
  10. The studio behind the upcoming Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake says it regrets announcing it so early. The game appeared during Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, showing gameplay footage for the first time and revealing a November 14 release date. However, the game was initially announced back in May 2021 as one of five in-development Dragon Quest titles confirmed at the same time. Read More... View the full article
  11. The Final Shape expansion introduced changes to how Power works in Destiny 2, and players believe it negatively affects the experience of players who are just learning the endgame content of the game. In The Final Shape, Destiny 2 added Activity Power Caps to most activities in the game, including raids and dungeons. These caps indicate your maximum effectiveness in an activity, which means you’re stuck at a set power below enemies and can’t overlevel to make your life easier. On top of that, all Standard difficulty endgame activities now have weekly elemental surges. In a Reddit thread on June 18, players agreed these changes are unnecessary because they make the experience more difficult for new players and raiders. View the full article

  13. The first trailer for Smile 2 is here, and it looks like it's promising to up the stakes a touch in the upcoming sequel. Back in 2022, Paramount put out Smile, an odd little horror film where there's some kind of curse causing people to, you guessed it, smile! That's then followed up with people committing ********, so you can see why it's a curse. It was also incredibly successful, grossing $217 million at the box office on a $17 million budget, hence why we can now look forward to a sequel, quite plainly named Smile 2, though I'm not sure what I'd name it myself. Paramount released the first teaser trailer for the film yesterday, which shifts focus to a new character, a pop star named Skye Riley, played by Naomi Scott (Power Rangers). As described by Paramount, "About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control." Being a pop star, you can obviously imagine Skye being surrounded by people at all times, with that level of fame likely being anxiety-inducing enough at the best of times, let alone when random people are menacingly smiling at you before harming themselves. 14. ********* role-playing game enthusiasts are eating good this week, as Square Enix announce a 3D remake for 1993's Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge Of The Seven. It's a high fantasy RPG in which you must shore up an empire and defend it from generation to generation against a group of legendary adventurers, who were trapped in another dimension many moons ago and are positively livid that people don't talk about their sacrifices enough. It's out 24th October 2024, and springs from the turbulent brains of the team behind 2020's Trials of Mana remake, which was well-received. I've got a trailer's worth of rabble-rousing orchestral music and sparkly tag-team finishers below. Read more View the full article

  20. Hi. There's an expansion coming out this week. It's called Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree and you probably haven't heard much about it. Anyway, within a day of the reviews of it coming out ahead of its arrival on June 21, it's casually become the highest rated game of 2024 and the highest rated DLC ever among critics on Metacritic. Yup, Miyazaki and co have basically succeded in making us hold their ***** as they casually make an expansion that's a good bet to get plenty of Game of the Year votes from folks who're determined to argue that getting more of a thing pretty much everyone already gave one GOTY award to warrants us all dispensing another one. Seriously though, given the very high expectations folks had for it, From's done a pretty amazing thing here. If you head over to Metacritic, the place you go when you've run out of ways to say a game's good during an argument with your mates, you'll see that Shadow of the Erdtree's currently sitting at a critic rating of 95, with our own review being a part of the sample of 56 which've led to that number being a thing. 22. The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan is set to reboot The Exorcist, and Universal has landed on a release date. If there's any one date that horror films love to land on, it's Friday the 13th. That's exactly the date that Universal has chosen to release Flanagan's take on the classic horror series, specifically March 13, 2026, so almost a good couple of years away (via Deadline). The reboot was announced last month, where Flanagan said that he's aiming to make something "fresh, bold, and terrifying within its universe." According to the original press release, the film is "an all-new story set in The Exorcist universe and is not a sequel to 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer." That last bit is clearly an important one for Universal to bring up, as you might not have realised that a new Exorcist film was actually released last year, the aforementioned Exorcist: Believer. It only grossed $137 million at the box office, which on a budget of $30 million normally wouldn't be too bad, but Universal had acquired the rights to the series in 2021 for a costly $400 million. So, you can see why it might not have been happy with how the sequel turned out. The Exorcist: Believer was actually meant to be the first part of a trilogy, but that's since been scrapped in favour of rebooting the franchise, which is why we now have Flanagan's film in the works. 23. Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection - one of the games announced at yesterday's Nintendo Direct - is getting a physical version on the Nintendo Switch as well as PlayStation 4. However, bad news Xbox fans, there's no planned released for any Xbox console, including the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It is also coming to PC via Steam, of course. This information was first brought to light after folks payed attention to the official press release that came out alongside the reveal, which stated the game would be have "digital and physical versions for PlayStation 4". This led to some confusion, as some were worried a physical version wouldn't be coming to the Switch, but thanks to Ethan Gach from Kotaku this has been clarified by Capcom. "Capcom PR just confirmed to me that Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection will get a physical release on Switch as well as PS4." Gach posted on Twitter, clearing up any confusion. There was of course no further word on Xbox versions at all - so again - back luck Xbox heads. Read more View the full article
  24. Bethesda has no plans to remake Fallout or Fallout 2, Todd Howard says. The series’ executive producer was interviewed on the MrMattyPlays YouTube channel, where he was asked if the success of the Fallout TV show was going to lead to remakes of the isometric turn-based games that started the series off. Howard replied that as long as the original versions remain available, the ability to play those on modern hardware is considered more of a priority to Bethesda. Read More... View the full article
