The Pokémon TCG hobby has been in a difficult place for the past few years, and it's causing a lot of upset for the fans of this game. Getting hold of new sealed product in the wilds is like catching a slippery fish with your bare hands. You have to be alert, prepared, and lucky, and even then you'll probably lose out to a scalper with an army of bots (I guess in this analogy, they're a hungry brown bear). "Let's just get the bad out of the way: we have to postpone the launch of [Deep Rock Galactic:] Rogue Core to early Q2 2026," said Ghost Ship Games director Mikkel Martin Pedersen in a briefing earlier this week. It was a rip-the-band-aid-off opening for a presentation that quickly moved on to what Ghost Ship's doing in the meantime: launching a new season for Deep Rock Galactic, its first since 2023, while it continues work on the roguelite spin-off for next year... After weeks of players criticizing Silent Hill ffor being too combat-heavy and unnecessarily difficult, developer NeoBards and publisher Konami have shared patch notes for an update that massively overhauls the game by introducing a new Casual Action difficulty, which makes the game a whole lot easier to beat. Silent Hill f received mostly positive reviews upon launch, but both audiences and critics shared heavily mixed reactions to the game's combat, which some argued was too action-focused and detracted from the psychological horror that makes the Silent Hill franchise special. In response to this feedback, NeoBards has added a brand-new game mode, and players are already celebrating the big change. View the full article

Yesterday’s announcement of new living room and VR hardware from Valve obviously has many gamers clamoring for any news of a more powerful version of the nearly four-year-old Steam Deck. In a new interview with IGN, though, Valve Software Engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais says that portable gaming silicon still hasn’t advanced enough to justify brand new benchmark hardware. “The thing we’re making sure of is that it’s a worthwhile enough performance upgrade [for a Steam Deck 2] to make sense as a standalone product,” Griffais told IGN. “We’re not interested in getting to a point where it’s 20 or 30 or even 50 percent more performance at the same battery life. We want something a little bit more demarcated than that.” “So we’ve been working back from silicon advancements and architectural improvements, and I think we have a pretty good idea of what the next version of Steam Deck is going to be, but right now there’s no offerings in that landscape, in the SoC [System on a Chip] landscape, that we think would truly be a next-gen performance Steam Deck,” Griffais continued. VR developer VRWOOD is "exploring all possible options" to protect its IP after claiming that HoYoverse's upcoming Animal Crossing-like game, Petit Planet, bears "striking similarities" to its own game, Little Planet. Little Planet launched on Meta Quest just last week, after releasing in early access back in November of 2023. The game is an Animal Crossing-like VR life sim sandbox where players can craft customizable decorations and customize...well, a little planet, make friends with talking animal neighbors, dress up, play games, fish, and interact online with other players via a multiplayer planet known as the StarNexus.. While developer VRWOOD has acknowledged the game's similarities to Animal Crossing, he's said the real inspiration for it was the 1943 French story The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Which is sort of interesting, VRWOOD pointed out to us, because The Little Prince was exactly what we thought of when we previewed Petit Planet last week, having never heard of Little Planet prior. Like Little Planet, Petit Planet is also a life sim sandbox game that takes place on a small planet, features Animal Crossing-like gameplay, animal residents, crafting and customization, and even online features letting you craft and play alongside friends, similarly taking place on a separate multiplayer planet known as the Galactic Bazaar. The biggest difference seems to be a higher budget and Little Planet being a VR game, but VRWOOD told us that it has plans for PC, console, and even mobile releases down the line. Petit Planet is currently announced for PC and mobile. Both games are free-to-play Most critical, though, is Little Planet's claim that it got here first. Little Planet entered early access in November of 2023 and officially launched just last week, while Petit Planet's trademark was registered in October of 2024, the game itself wasn't announced until this past September, and it isn't yet out. What's more, even though it's out in beta form, it sounds like it may still need some development time, given the reports that the beta still includes AI-generated text. "We are disheartened to find that, only days after the release of Little Planet, a major publisher and developer has announced a game with striking similarities ranging from the name, setting, and features to even the stated inspiration," said Frank Zhaung, CEO of VRWOOD and Little Planet creative director. "Little Planet has been available in early access since November 15, 2023, nearly a full year prior to HoYoverse filing a trademark application on October 31, 2024. We are exploring all possible options to protect our intellectual property and future plans, which include releases on mobile devices, as well as PC and console." IGN has reached out to HoYoverse for comment. Rebekah Valentine is a senior reporter for IGN. You can find her posting on BlueSky @duckvalentine.bsky.social. Got a story tip? Due to the often, erm, outspoken nature of its videogame communities, Riot Games is, quite rightly, extremely tough on those that insult or abuse other players. Account suspensions and bans for inappropriate behavior in-game or even making hateful, offensive comments while streaming or discussing Riot's games on social media, can earn you a smack on the wrist. As of last year, the most severe punishments can also see you suspended from several of its multiplayer games at once - if you're seriously violating the company's user rules and get banned in League of Legends, for example, you could see that ban extended to Valorant, 2XKO, or any of Riot's other titles. However, what many may not realize is that this also applies to Riftbound, the new LoL-themed trading card game that released a few weeks ago. Read the rest of the story... If you've regularly read any of my Call of Duty coverage over the last 12 months, you'll already know that I think ****** Ops 6 is the best entry in the series since ****** Ops 4, the final CoD before the 'Warzone era' began. Alongside a hearty Zombies offering and an experimental campaign, the more zippy and vibrant multiplayer has been the biggest contributor to the way I feel about BO6. With ****** Ops 7 immediately picking up the torch, can it elevate things even further? Well, from what I've experienced so far at an exclusive hands-on review event in London, I'm optimistic - but not as optimistic as Treyarch's creative director, Miles Leslie. In an interview with him at the event, he bristles with confidence about BO7's new Overload mode, an excellent Ranked experience for competitive players, and maps that can stand shoulder to shoulder with the beloved, frequently remastered classics of ****** Ops 1 and 2.
