  2. 4. There’s nowt more magical than the lambent inscriptions of tangled sigils required to spell places like Ainderby Quernhow, Weedley Copse, or Upper Poppleton. A shiny whippet to the first of you to correctly identify which of these are real, and which were invented for “roguelite word puzzle RPG” Sternly Worded Adventures. Actually, scratch that. I’m not made of whippets, and you can just as easily find out yourself via the Steam demo. I think you should, if only because “I ******* a ****** by spelling out the word Toblerone” is easily in my top ten gaming moments of the year. 5. Image: AMD You can’t download more RAM, but you can now download better gaming performance if you’re the owner of a modern Ryzen CPU. AMD revealed last week that it was working with Microsoft on an optimization patch for Ryzen CPUs that was due with Microsoft’s next big Windows 11 version 24H2 update, but Microsoft has now backported this to the existing 23H2 version. The result is a significant performance improvement in gaming across a variety of Zen 4 and Zen 5 Ryzen CPUs, including the popular 7800X3D chip. “Users will need to look for KB5041587 under Windows update > Advanced options > Optional updates,” says AMD in a statement to Wccftech. “We expect the performance uplift to be very similar between 24H2 and 23H2 with KB5041587 installed.” R... 6. Exterminatus. Exterminatus. You’re all exterminatused. None of you are free of sin. Except, maybe Focus Interactive are actually? While it would be a monumentally silly heel turn to go back on their promise of only charging Space Marine 2 players extra for cosmetics a mere week and change before the shooter’s September 9 release date, the new year one roadmap does at least look piously forthright. Chatting to James at Gamescom recently (possibly from his cathedral ship made out of graphics cards), Saber boss Tim Willits dragged out an armoured horse and proceeded to flog it mercilessly, saying that players don’t want to be sold the equivalent of Oblivion's infamous deadbeat daddy of DLCs. As several of you identified, this seemed like an odd comparison when Spice Maureen 2 specifically plans to charge for comparable cosmetics, although I imagine Willits was referencing the “packs” that his space game’s baubles come in. “Our fans never thought we ripped them off in World War Z,” he said, comparing Space Marine 2’s optional spendables to that game. Whether you see the cosmetic's pricing as egregious or not, yesterday’s roadmap does look to make good on Saber’s promise to keep wearables and playables separate. Here’s it: Read more View the full article

  18. Valve has taken a stand against Dota 2 teams using the game to advertise their sponsors today, outright banning all sponsor logos during a match such as those seen on team banners, base logos, and player tags. The move comes just a week before The International begins and is a shock to many organizations who had been using Dota 2‘s in-game elements to advertise their sponsors, with Valve stating the decision was to “remove distracting elements and allow full focus on the game and people playing it” in an Aug. 27 blog post. “Over the years, we’ve built a number of features into Dota to help celebrate these teams and players; unfortunately, we’ve seen those features increasingly being used not to showcase team or player identity, but rather to host advertisements,” the company explained. 22. Bandai Namco has confirmed today that the ********* version of its anime-inspired MMORPG Blue Protocol will be “discontinued” on January 18, 2025. As a result, Bandai Namco also clarified that this also means any plans to release the game outside of Japan have now been cancelled. “We have enjoyed a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocol, and both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the game to players around the world,” the company said in a statement published on the Bandai Namco website. “We have worked hard to prepare for the release; however, we have come to the conclusion that it will not be possible to provide a service that satisfies all of you.” Co-developed by Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios, Blue Protocol’s worldwide release plans were revealed at The Game Awards in 2022.
