  3. Atlus games have something of a reputation for being very, very hard. Veterans of the series might recall such ‘skill check bosses’ as Matador in Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, or the Minotaur in Shin Megami Tensei 4 on the 3DS. Each of these foes act as early-game walls that many players ran aground against, terminating a save file and making people rethink their RPG choices. The games, from there on, don’t get much easier, either. The MegaTen series and the Persona series are both home to some pretty tough battles that can easily undermine even a seasoned RPG player if they haven’t been paying attention to the fussier mechanics of the game they’re playing. Of course, things have gotten a little easier lately - the re-release of Shin Megami Tensei 5 had an optional ‘Safety Difficulty’ download that basically allowed you to deal 10x more damage from the off. And the Persona games have been getting easier and easier since 3, with Persona 5 particularly being a walk in the park for players that know their SRPGs from their JRPGs (if you still want to call ‘em that). 6. In what scientists will someday call "a marketing collabo of supernatural potency," Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has revealed that he wants to get some kind of crossover going with Fortnite. 7. A prominent YouTuber specializing in FromSoftware games and Soulslikes appears to have deleted his X account (formerly Twitter) after a sleuth of Discord comments surfaced in which they allegedly attacked migrants and spouted right-wing political views. An Aug. 25 X thread brought YouTuber Ziostorm‘s apparent Discord rants to light, which are still actively being discussed at the time of writing. In one reply, Ziostorm allegedly endorsed Trump and said he doesn’t think people realize “that globalism is literally just Islamic conquest.” In other posts, he allegedly said “the *** is already on the brink of disappearing” and that “[Sweden] is being destroyed by migrants.” View the full article

  10. Bandai Namco's ill-fated MMORPG Blue Protocol has officially had a tombstone ordered on its behalf, as the company has announced it'll be ceasing service in January 2025. What that means in basic terms is that the servers will be shut down and the game will ****, but what's particularly interesting here is that Bandai Namco has also announced that the worldwide port of Blue Protocol - which was being handled by Amazon Games - is also *****. That version of the game was never actually released, quietly shifting its summer 2024 release date to a vague 2024 window earlier this year. It's a sad end for a game that unfortunately didn't bring in the anticipated revenue Bandai Namco was looking for. In a financial report, the company vaguely hinted towards the game's lacklustre performance, before promptly never mentioning it in such a capacity in future reports. Amazon Games, which was behind that planned western release, has been absolutely silent about the game for nearly a year. As mentioned above, the game was initially targeting a release window for... now. However, it was quietly pushed back, and now is firmly cancelled. Read more View the full article

  18. Gambit finally appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through Deadpool & Wolverine, and luckily his fate appears to be a bit clearer now. Spoilers ahead for Deadpool & Wolverine. While a solo movie isn't being floated right now, the actor did at least finally get to play the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest, Deadpool & Wolverine, much to his and everyone else's delight. It's ok, we all do it, even if it's just yelling expletives whenever we're playing on legendary difficulty and get ambushed by a dragon while overcumbered. Now, though, a Twitch streamer's taken this kind of thing to the next level, by turning their broadcasts into a live vlog from Tamriel thanks to a mod that lets them voice the Dragonborn in real time. Add in the fact that their Twitch chat's able to voice NPCs in the game, and you've got a recipie for a fun playthrough, if not a very lore-friendly one. The streamer in question, Blurbs, had already drawn a lot of attention when they managed to perfect having random stream watchers insult them and generally talk bollocks through the mouths of everyone from Dark Brotherhood assassins to children eariler this year, and now they're back with a mod which lets them voice the Dragonborn live as they play, simply by talking into their mic.
