  14. One look at Thronefall is enough to warrant attention. It features a lovely, minimalist art style and a simplified version of the sort of tower defense strategy design popularized by games like Plants vs. Zombies, Kingdom Rush Vengeance, and Defense Grid: The Awakening. All of this comes together to make it one of the most compelling strategy games of the last year. 16. Everything about Concord, on some level, works, or works well in isolation. Roka's heat-seeking missile launcher tracks targets with a satisfying *bleep bleep bleep*. Starchild's double-jump/power slam ability combo feels great when you can hit multiple targets. But Concord's occasional moments of satisfaction are waylaid by a competitive shooter experience that's too often sluggish, boring, and devoid of any interesting tactics beyond balling up as a team and standing on an objective... 17. You can earn a World of Warcraft Blightbud **** through The War Within by completing the Blocked Intake puzzle in The Ringing Deeps. Hidden prizes are scattered throughout the four zones of WoW: The War Within, providing treats for PvE players who enjoy quests. But solving the quest slows most down on the quick grind to level 80. Previous ESO freebies over the past few months have included mounts, pets, and even entire zone expansions, but in September the focus shifts to dungeons and those who delve them. More costumes and ******* skins will be given out, but the main draw here is the Fang Lair and Scalecaller Peak DLC dungeons, which you can claim just by logging into the game—no strings attached. 25. It's a crying shame that Advance Wars isn't available on PC. We do have a fantasy twist on the series with Wargroove, the grid-based roguelike leanings of Into the Breach, and the genre-defining tension of XCOM, but they're not the same. Even the DS version of Tom Clancy's EndWar, which borrows heavily from Advance Wars, can't be played today (and I lost my copy - pain). As we kick rocks wanting to play something similar, in walks Warside, and it's definitely wearing the Advance Wars inspirations on its sleeve. Read the rest of the story...
