The first time I encountered Jack King-Spooner's work, it was when he sent me a copy of Sluggish Morss: Pattern Circus over hospital wifi late at night. The game was a bright spot in a bad time, which might seem peculiar given that Sluggish Morss often looks like a whale's upset stomach, but it's such a feverishly inventive creation. It blew the dust from my synapses. The same appears true of King-Spooner's upcoming Judero, on which he is collaborating with Soul Searching developer Talha Kaya. It casts you as a "pagan seer" armed with a big stick, who is roving the mythical Scottish borders in search of evil to clobber. It looks cheerier and airier than Sluggish Morss, with a more overt emphasis on mechanics such as combat, but it has the same pickled 3am energy to it. It's also now got a release date - 16th September - and a new trailer below. Read more View the full article
A new ***** from Genshin Impact is potentially teasing the next lineup of characters, following the recent release of the Natlan region. The long-awaited launch of the HoYoverse RPG's sixth playable region has already seen multiple new cast members introduced to the game's roster, including a free character. Mualani saw her debut as Natlan's first playable five-star character with Kinich coming during the update's second half, while Kachina arrived as a free reward for the game's Archon Quest. Who would’ve thought it, but it turns out in Marvel Rivals, the upcoming 6v6 Hero Shooter from NetEase Games and Marvel Games, the superheroes are considered quite important. So, even with a varied roster of 25 heroes already revealed, the first question most people ask about Marvel Rivals is which character is next around the corner. However, while some considerations are made towards presenting a slew of different kinds of characters, apparently just about anyone from the Marvel pantheon could eventually turn up. “No character is off limits, we have to pick the ones who are fun to look at, different, fun to play, whatever reason that is, they have to bring something good to the overall roster,” Danny Koo, executive producer on Marvel Rivals, told VG247 at Gamescom 2024. Still in the mood for more Peaky Blinders after season 6? Well, lucky you, as the plan was to make a movie - distributed by Netflix - to wrap everything up. Cillian Murphy is in and was recently joined by Mission: Impossible and Dune’s Rebecca Ferguson. Now, Barry Keoghan is adding even more star power to the ensemble. The news arrived via Deadline without further details about his role nor Ferguson’s. That said, their inclusion, given how busy they are with big-screen work nowadays, suggests that Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders’ long-running storyline could’ve been saving the best for last. British director Tom Harper (The Aeronauts, Heart of Stone) is directing the feature, which will be distributed exclusively via Netflix as far as we know. While the idea of making the conclusion to Peaky Blinders a big-screen event could be enticing, the streaming giant has been very adamant about its release strategy, with few movies getting the (limited) theatrical treatment. Amid the cacophony caused by Call of Duty Next, one new ****** Ops 6 feature flew under the radar — but it could end up as the most impactful of all. ****** Ops 6, out October 25, 2024, has a new Body Shield feature in multiplayer that lets you grab an ****** and hold them in front of you to soak up bullets, while ******* off a few rounds of your own. We’ve seen a body shield feature in plenty of shooters over the years, but what developer Treyarch has done here is enabled voice chat between the attacker and the victim. We heard you and can confirm that the Body Shield feature in Multiplayer will enable voice chat between the attacker and victim. Be nice... [Hidden Content] — Treyarch Studios (@Treyarch) August 28, 2024 “Be nice…” the studio tweeted, perhaps in hope more than expectation. As you’d expect from the notoriously toxic Call of Duty community, reaction is a mix of disbelief and excitement. Disbelief in that some can’t believe Treyarch actually added voice chat to the feature knowing full well the toxicity it will probably enable, excitement in that some are delighted Treyarch actually added voice chat to the feature knowing full well the toxicity it will probably enable. You will be able to use Proximity Chat against players you turn into a human shield in #BlackOps6 Imagine getting turned to a human shield and they start whispering in your ear. [Hidden Content] — Tridzo (@Tridzo) August 28, 2024 And already there are fears that what’s said during Body Shield might end up getting you banned, if Activision’s AI-powered voice chat moderation picks up something it deems in breach of its rules. “What could go wrong?” wondered redditor Evisra over on the ****** Ops 6 subreddit. A lot, most fans seem to predict. Call of Duty sort of has this feature already in Warzone. In that game, The battle royale spin-off enables voice chat for deaths, so players can hear their opponent scream into the mic when they’re *******. This Body Shield feature for ****** Ops 6, however, feels altogether more intimate. Anyone who’s played Call of Duty multiplayer recently will know that there tends not to be much voice chat going on. Most play with their mic off, or are in a party chat with their friends. With this feature, ****** Ops 6 might change that. Check out everything announced at Call of Duty Next to find out what else is coming from the world of Call of Duty, including information about the return of Verdansk to Warzone. We also reported on the world first ****** Ops 6 *****, which one player managed to get before the beta even launched. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. All battle royale games have that iconic map, and Verdansk was just that for Call of Duty: Warzone—the cityscape battlefield was the title’s only major map until Call of Duty: Vanguard came along in 2021. With the release of Vanguard, Verdansk was replaced by Caldera. And with Modern Warfare 2 in 2022, Warzone 2.0 came out and released Al Mazrah, which was only replaced by Modern Warfare 3’s Urzikstan in 2023. View the full article
A sudden update to World of Warcraft: The War Within's leveling experience has left the community torn, as it drastically impacts the amount of power characters decked out with gear from previous expansions have while making the journey from level 70-80. The reason for this change is clear. Characters coming in with full sets of high-level gear from old content were absolutely flying through leveling mobs without in a matter of seconds, totally stripping the leveling process of any challenge. This impacted group content too, as higher level characters in a party with lower level characters decked out in old-content gear would find themselves out DPS'd courtesy of power balancing. Okay so what are the two sides of the arguement here? Why are people not super happy? On the side of the hotfix are those - including developers - who don't want leveling to be too quick, too easy, and perhaps most crucially too brainless. If you're blasting through content with old gear, you're not paying attention to all the nice new content - you've got your favourite podcast on and you're just plugging away. Fun, sure. But not the intended way to experience stuff. Read more View the full article
Well, you've read the headline. Have you been affected by the early access patch issue that led some PS5 Star Wars Outlaws players to end up being forced to start new playthroughs or rish getting stuck in space? If so, you might now have an email from Ubisoft offering you some compensation that...er...it's not nothing. As you might have read about on this fine website yesterday, some of those who'd invested in early access to the game - it's out for non-swanky special edition regular folks on August 30 - on PS5 had ended up being advised by Ubisoft to start new saves following the deployment of Patch 1.000.002 on the platform, in order to avoid issues with save files initially made on the old version of the game. "If you continue on a prior save you will unfortunately face issues and progression blockers," was what Ubisoft warned in that email to players that might be affected, and now it's sent a follow-up outlining what its plans are to make it up to those who've been forced to retreat back to square one. Three types of Saurians were introduced with the release of Genshin Impact 5.0, all of which can be interacted with and even controlled, seeing that the Natlan region permits players to embody these creatures through a process known as Saurian Indwelling. Saurians are native creatures to the land of Pyro and, while they dwell in that Nation, they are not all necessarily aligned with the Pyro element itself, much like the Natlan characters in Genshin Impact have different Elemental Types. Saurians are dragon-like creatures that live harmoniously among the various human tribes and factions within the region. View the full article
As Stardew Valley fans on console and mobile wait for more information on the in-development port of the 1.6 Update, developer ConcernedApe has an unfortunate update on his other project Haunted Chocolatier. Despite dropping the 1.6 Update for PC in early 2024, the Stardew Valley community has been split for the better half of six months as those on console still don't have access to the latest content. As a side-effect of this delay, ConcernedApe has had to pump the brakes on the highly-anticipated game. View the full article

The situation: Sumo Newcastle are making a dystopian on-foot multiplayer racing game called Deathsprint 66, in which you control one of eight Running Men hurtling through the spiked and bladed contours of a futuristic megacity. The complication: competing against other actual human beings isn't always pleasant or desirable, especially when hurtling through the spiked and bladed contours of a futuristic megacity. The solution: Deathsprint 66 is getting a set of PvE-focussed "Episodes" in which just one human player plus optional bots hurtle through the spiked and bladed contours of a futuristic megacity. MSI has made a 105W TDP mode available on its motherboards, for use with AMD Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X CPUs. The new 105W AMD CPU mode can unlock up to 13% higher performance, as it allows these new CPUs to crank up their clock speeds higher than when using their stock 65W TDP modes. TDP stands for thermal design power, and refers to the heat output of the CPU, which also correlates with the power draw. The AMD Ryzen 9700X and 9600X only have a 65W TDP by default, compared to 105W on the previous Ryzen 5 7600X, which has a place on our guide to the best gaming CPU. The new mode is likely to come at the cost of higher power consumption, but gives users the option of extracting more performance from their new chips. Read the rest of the story... Most moviegoers agree that Alien: Romulus is a pretty fun time and perhaps even the sci-fi horror series’ best since Aliens (1986). Well, it depends on how crazy your personal ranking of the franchise is. Anyway, with both Alien and Predator now back on track, it appears that 20th Century Studios isn’t slowing down and has already started ********* the next Predator standalone flick. Via AvP Galaxy, who have done a pretty great job over the years of staying on top of everything Alien and Predator, we’ve learned that Predator: Badlands is now filming in New Zealand. The directing-writing duo of Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) and Patrick Aison (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) is again behind the wheel, so that’s reason to celebrate, as 2022’s Prey kicked ****. This time around, however, the plan is to release the next Predator movie in theaters after Prey scored an incredible critical reception and pleased most fans. The folks at Disney know they screwed up by dropping it on Hulu/Disney Plus, and looking at the numbers that Alien: Romulus is making on a $80 million budget, chances are a pretty solid Predator movie could do well in theaters too. Shedinja is a difficult Pokémon to get at the best of times, but in Pokémon Go, it’s nearly impossible to find one unless you play the game during certain key events.
