  1. Razer just revealed a new feature coming exclusively to its Hunstman optical gaming keyboards, and it's set to change competitive first-person shooter gameplay forever. Snap Tap allows overlapping activation of the A and D keys, meaning you no longer need to depress and activate new inputs to achieve the perfect strafing movement. As great as this new feature seems on paper, its implementation is limited, as Razer confirmed it's only coming to the Huntsman V3 Pro keyboards via a firmware update. Granted, these are among the best gaming keyboards on the market right now, as I recently found in my Razer Huntsman V3 Pro review. Read the rest of the story... 4. Laika, the animation studio behind films like Coraline is teaming up with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller for, uh, a live-action film. Since its inception, Laika has done one thing, and one thing only: make stop-motion movies. It kicked things off with Coraline, a film that's developed a cult following over the years since its release, going on to make films like ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Missing Link, though it's not managed to find as much success since that first movie. Lord and Miller, on the other hand, have produced a few live-action projects over the years, the most notable being 21 Jump Street, but for a good number of years they've been focused on animated projects like the Spider-Verse films. So, tell me then, why are the animation studio and producing duo teaming up to make a live-action film? As reported by Variety, Laika, Lord, and Miller are coming together to make Crumble, an original film penned by Brian Duffield (Skull Island) that follows a married couple that set off on a world-travelling adventure in order to find a cure for an ancient curse. Duffield is also attached as director, with Lord and Miller producing. "I’ll never forget seeing ‘Coraline’ on opening night at the AMC Burbank 16 and wondering who these wonderful new geniuses were," Duffield said in a statement. "I can’t wait to make a movie with them and hopefully live up to their banner, and I couldn’t be more excited to get to go on a new adventure with my friends at Lord Miller." 7. Once Human has a host of errors that don’t explain much, with the “this structure cannot be built near a Stronghold” error being one of the more cryptic ones. It appears when building structures in your territory and won’t appear for everyone. It only shows up if you build your base around specific structures or parts of the world, but if you come across it, it can make a dent in your plans to create a sprawling base of operations. So, how do you overcome it? View the full article
  8. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree includes an exciting new story that adds a lot to Elden Rings base game, but one of its side quests really should have been turned into part of the main story. Though all side quests in Shadow of the Erdtree offer some interesting depth to the Land of Shadow and the events happening there, one, in particular, seems almost essential for fully understanding the main quest of Elden Rings DLC. Though players will have to challenge one of the difficult Remembrance bosses to complete this quest, the story is well worth it. View the full article
  9. Many years ago game designers advised their peers to make their prototypes "juicy". They were talking about the nebulous collection of sensations a player is exposed to when heads explode, coins jangle, and ****** bounce. Zenless Zone Zero is a game deeply informed by the philosophy of juice. Like the lootbox hawkers of yesteryear, gacha designers understand the appeal and power of a pleasingly animated gizmo, ker-chunking open and fizzing with potential. This poppy visual and sonic language stretches across Hoyo's latest game, from its cinematic moments, to each character's attacks, to the cute bunny mascots that erupt into gatling guns, to the barista's coffee-making ritual and the recipes of the robo-limbed noodle server. The menu screens, the maps, the free-to-play storefront, everything. It is all very juicy. It is pumped with juice, but only in the same way supermarket chicken is pumped with water. 12. Once Human has finally released, and it's come out with a bang. Not even a day has passed since its launch and the game is nearing 100k concurrent users on Steam despite its mixed review score on the storefront. Could this be the next Steam survival hit? The numbers certainly add merit to that arguement! According to SteamDB, a website that tracks player counts on, er, Steam, the game has about 75k players buzzing around in it as of writing, with a 24 hour peak of 82,092. It also appears to be picking up traction on Twitch, with an all-time peak for viewership of 155,333. Not bad, for a breakout game without too much pre-launch hype around it. As for hurdles Once Human has to overcome, the game's current review score on Steam is mixed due to a combination of technical issues, complaints surrounding in-game character unlocks and servers, and privacy concerns. These privacy concerns relate to the mention of potentially asking folks for their government ID, which is included alongside the caveat that it'll be, "as required by applicable laws for age verification and correction of personal information." This concern could very well be an artificial issue - with some picking through the game's terms of service state and finding little to be concerned about. That particular line seems to apply to those living in countries like South Korea where such laws exist, rather than the US or ***. Read more View the full article
  13. The first round of casting is underway for Amazon's upcoming Spider-Man Noir series, and it seems like it's off to a pretty strong start. Back in May, Amazon finally greenlit its Spider-Man Noir series, and slightly surprising, Nicolas Cage was tapped to reprise his role for the live-action outing (though it is a different version of the character). Now, a couple more cast members have joined the project, the first being Lamorne Morris, who you'll probably best know as Winston in the popular sitcom New Girl. According to Deadline, Marris will be playing an alternate universe version of Robbie Robertson, previously portrayed by Bill Nunn in Sam Ramie's Spider-Man trilogy. This version of the character is apparently a dedicated journalist that's trying to do his best as a ****** professional in 1930s New York, taking on riskier stories that others might not to build a name for himself (and get paid). Joining him and Cage is Brendan Gleeson, as reported by Variety, and while details are currently slim on who he will be playing in the series, he's reportedly set to be its villain. Gleeson has had a pretty varied career, appearing in big name films like Paddington 2 and 28 Days Later, but is also known for smaller, more intimate works like In Bruges and The Banshees of Inisherin, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. 17. Once Human has been one the year’s more highly-anticipated survival games. After enjoying several successful beta tests, it coasted on a lot of enthusiasm from the community, which culminated with even more positive buzz from the Steam Next Fest demo, where more players got their hands on it. The free-to-play survival shooter has now officially launched, and though it did run into the all-too-common launch day issues, players are mostly upset with something that has little to do with the game itself. 21. If you've been trying to drop into a firefight in Helldivers 2 recently and have ended up getting stuck in an infinite loading screen loop, then good news. The game's latest hotfix is aimed squarely at stopping that from happening as much. Also, Arrowhead's teased that we might start getting some info on the next warbond "soonish". As outlined in a set of patch notes that's mostly made up of the usual section on "Known Issues", Arrowhead's used patch 1.000.405 to specifically home in on one issue. It's those poor folks who've tried to join the action, but have ended up trapped in the hellpod drop-in loading screen, with it infinitely looping rather than the game allowing itself to move on the next stage of depositing affected divers in their planet of choice. It's important to note that, while the fix "aims to reduce the number of people" currently being affected by the issue, it doesn't sound like Arrowhead's totally eliminated it, so you might need to file another bug report if you hop on today after updating and find that you're still experiencing the problem. It goes without saying, but if you do, please think of the poor folks who've got to read it, even if you're understandably frustrated. Read more View the full article
  22. As one of the newest gacha games, Zenless Zone Zero has a ton of characters to collect and build. One of the main mechanics is building an optimal team that will help you clear any content in ZZZ. Hollow can be a scary place where dangerous opponents lurk around. So, you need some heavy hitters to help you get through story commissions, beat Shiyu Defense, and conquer the entire Hollow—and to do that, you need to assemble the best teams you can make. 23. If you don’t like the look of your character in Once Human, then there is a way you can change your appearance— so long as you’re willing to pay for it. It’s not ideal, and you need an item known as a Chrysalis Token to start the process of turning your character from what you have into what you want, but if you are too far into the game and don’t want to restart from scratch, the only way to change your character is through this method. 24. There's a new CG, live-action hybrid SpongeBob SquarePants film on the way, but this time everyone's favourite southern squirrel is taking the lead. It's almost been a good decade since SpongeBob mixed animation with live-action through 2015's The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, but Netflix is here to change all that with the upcoming release of Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie. As you can probably tell by the title, this one isn't really about SpongeBob, though he'll still be there alongside this film's titular hero, getting up to his usual hijinks. The first trailer for the new movie arrived yesterday, and while Bikini Bottom has been in trouble plenty of times before, this time the entire town has been up and lifted out of the ocean, taken to Texas (which just so happens to be where Sandy is from). With Sandy now on land, there's also been a new reveal for the character: she's actually a flying squirrel! How that has never come up before, particularly considering Sandy has removed her suit previously, can probably only be explained by "because she wasn't a flying squirrel until now" but hey, I guess sometimes you just have to come up with a way for a rodent and anthropomorphic sponge to travel across the USA. The film also introduces Sandy's extended family, introducing a range of new cast members including Johnny Knoxville (********), Craig Robinson (Pineapple Express), and Grey Griffin (Avatar: The Last Airbender).
