Minecraft will no longer support virtual reality headset PlayStation VR after March 2025, Mojang has announced. A blog post detailed incoming changes to the console version of Minecraft and revealed those who enjoy playing with PSVR would no longer be able to do so as of next year. Any version of Minecraft on PlayStation updated with the presumed March 2025 update will no longer support PSVR at all. Mojang didn't give a specific reason for the cut support though even Sony itself has moved on from the PSVR as its subsequent headset, the PlayStation VR2, was released in February 2023. "Our ability to support PlayStation VR has come to an end, and will no longer be supported in updates after March of 2025," it said. "After you receive the final update, you will still receive updates on your PlayStation and be able to play without PlayStation VR. From this point on you can keep building in your worlds, and your Marketplace purchases (including Tokens) will continue to be available. You will no longer be able to use your PlayStation VR with Minecraft as it will no longer be supported in the latest updates." Many Minecraft fans have been put off by the amount of reality hitting their game lately, as the first trailer for the Jack ****** starring A Minecraft Movie was widely mocked. Many called out its use of real people, like ****** and Jason Momoa, in a CGI world, with seemingly the entire film shot against a green screen. Reaction was so strong that one fan even remade the trailer in a fully animated style, which went down a treat with fans. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. Earlier this week, PCGamesN reported on a post, left in response to a video by YouTuber 'Asmongold' about Space Marine 2, that was seemingly written by Saber CEO Matthew Karch. The post, written by an account with the name '@MatthewKarch,' and using a photograph of the Saber boss, describes frustrations with videogames that make "overblown attempts at messaging or imposing morals on gamers." PCGamesN contacted Saber to obtain confirmation whether the post was authentically written by Karch. The company refused to comment. Now, a LinkedIn account, also seemingly belonging to Karch, shares a comment that endorses the original YouTube post. Read the rest of the story... One of Steam's most successful games is under ***** as Palworld faces a new lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. The survival game rocketed to the top of the Steam charts in January, and was quickly given the moniker of 'Pokemon with guns' due to its cast of adorable animal companions. However, it has also faced questions about numerous design similarities to existing creatures from the Pokemon series, and now Palworld developer Pocketpair is facing legal action from Nintendo itself. The **** lads at Square Enix have released a demo for their remake of 90s RPG Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge Of The Seven, in which you play a whole dynasty of customisable protagonists fighting vengeful ancient heroes. It’s a turn-based battler with an empire-building component in which you play as several emperors in succession, passing on abilities and knowledge to your heir. In what I consider to be a poetic complimentary flourish, you can also pass on save data from the demo to the full game. Look, this is what counts for “poetic” just before lunch on a Thursday. Baldur's Gate 3's narrative is widely considered to be one of the most expansive stories ever included in a video game but that doesn't mean some players haven't found creative ways to make it even better. When Larian Studios confirmed in early 2024 that it wasn't developing any DLC or expansions for Baldur's Gate 3, fans were disappointed given that several character plots would seemingly be left hanging, requiring one to fill in the gaps themselves. While most chose to do that with their imagination, some went and made their vision a reality. View the full article

Palworld developer Pocketpair has responded to Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s shock patent infringement lawsuit with a statement that says it’s unaware which patents it’s being accused of infringing. Overnight, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced the companies had taken legal action against fellow ********* developer Pocketpair, alleging Palworld, dubbed Pokémon with guns by fans, “infringes multiple patent rights.” Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are seeking an injunction and compensation for damages. Pocketpair has said it will continue to update Palworld despite the lawsuit, and apologized to players left concerned about the future of the game. Here’s Pocketpair’s statement in full: Regarding the Lawsuit Yesterday, a lawsuit was filed against our company for patent infringement. We have received notice of this lawsuit and will begin the appropriate legal proceedings and investigations into the claims of patent infringement. At this moment, we are unaware of the specific patents we are accused of infringing upon, and we have not been notified of such details. Pocketpair is a small indie game company based in Tokyo. Our goal as a company has always been to create fun games. We will continue to pursue this goal because we know that our games bring joy to millions of gamers around the world. Palworld was a surprise success this year, both for gamers and for us. We were blown away by the amazing response to the game and have been working hard to make it even better for our fans. We will continue improving Palworld and strive to create a game that our fans can be proud of. It is truly unfortunate that we will be forced to allocate significant time to matters unrelated to game development due to this lawsuit. However, we will do our utmost for our fans, and to ensure that indie game developers are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas. We apologize to our fans and supporters for any worry or discomfort that this news has caused. As always, thank you for your continued support of Palworld and Pocketpair. Players were left wondering whether Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s lawsuit will force Palworld to shut down. As you’d expect, the official Palworld Discord is packed with posts from players debating the likelihood of Nintendo’s success with its lawsuit, and the implication it might have on the game. Meanwhile, Pocketpair is continuing to update Palworld regardless. Just a few hours after Nintendo announced the lawsuit, Pocketpair released a hotfix for the Xbox version of Palworld to fix a fatal bug where wild Pals and base Pals would sometimes stop moving and working. The developer said the same issue is happening in the Steam version, and it’s on the case. “Thank you for your continued support of Palworld,” Pocketpair tweeted. Replies to this tweet were quick to note the timing of the hotfix. “Please don’t ever shut down the game, ya'll ******** it,” said one fan. “Y’all getting sued and posting hotfixes,” said another. “Not even phased,” added one user. “Does bro know they’re getting sued?” joked another. After Palworld’s record-breaking launch in January and the subsequent comparisons to Pokémon, IGN asked experts whether Nintendo could potentially successfully sue Pocketpair. At the time, Peter Lewin, video game lawyer at Wiggin, told IGN much would depend on which country Nintendo pursued legal action in, given the differences in IP laws across the globe. The U.S., for example, has a “notoriously permissive” fair use defense, which might have influenced where Nintendo sued Pocketpair. Nintendo’s lawsuit was filed in the Tokyo District Court. Sam Castree, a copyright lawyer and avid Pokémon player, told IGN there was the potential for a court order that would block Pocketpair from selling Palworld, but cast doubt on the likelihood of a lawsuit. That analysis, however, was in the context of a lawsuit based upon copyright infringement. Nintendo’s lawsuit alleges patent infringement, although the company has yet to detail which patents.
