Enlarge / I don't know what this flame crossbow (?) is from the Legacy of Rust campaign, but I am going to keep running and gunning until I get it. (credit: Bethesda Softworks) [/url] I have only one criticism of the "definitive, newly enhanced versions" of ***** and ***** II you can now pick up in a $10 package or as a free upgrade if you already owned one of those two games. My gripe is that it is entirely your own fault when you get hit by enemies. On a PC, Xbox X or S, or PlayStation 5, you can play ***** at 120 fps at 4K. You are moving so ridiculously fast, speed-skating across those Marine bases and/or hellscapes, that the imps tossing fireballs at you feel like they're a parent gently coaxing their **** to catch a softball. Even the enemies with instant-hitting guns feel like they're winding up a tree sap cannon. The one time I ***** inside the first three levels of classic ***** was when I jet-walked right off a circular path and into an inescapable poison moat. Does a flame thrower work against creatures that literally live in *****? Only one way to find out. (credit: Bethesda Game Studios) It's easy to recommend this newly packed-up and enhanced edition of these two first-person icons, released Thursday as part of QuakeCon. For one thing, it's being offered by Nightdive Studios, which has been turning out fan-favorite (and generally Ars-approved) remasters of games like Dark Forces, System Shock, Quake, and Quake II. For another, it's a real bundle, with both games, a huge number of classic add-on maps (including John Romero's Sigil), and an entirely new episode, Legacy of Rust, made by folks from Nightdive, id Software, and Wolfenstein auteurs MachineGames. The 2XKO's Alpha Lab test has been publically available for less than a day, and already players have found touch-of-****** combos. These combos - some of which niche, others genuinely quite useful - provide a glimpse at the saucy potential of Riot's very own fighting game. The reason these have been found so quickly comes courtesy of two main reasons. This Alpha Lab test *******, which is set to last roughly two weeks, isn't just a online matchmaking alpha. Instead, dedicated training mode tools are present for players looking to optimize their play, allowing for stable practice spaces for discovering such combos. In addition, many of the pioneers of such combos have actually played the game before, be it at public play sessions at Evo 2024 and elsewhere, or private Riot events. So let's ***** into some of these combos! Edwin - community manager at Square Enix and longtime fighting game player - has posted their own Darius x Ekko touch-of-****** to Twitter. This starts off with a regular old medium hit in the centre of the screen, and requires five bars in total. So very costly, but not overly impossible to pull off in an actual match. It also uses the double down fuse, allowing Edwin to link supers together and cash out some big damage. Read more View the full article

The original Fallout belongs to that small canon of games that changed the PC forever. Up there with Civilization, Half-Life, Command and Conquer, The Sims, and Myst, though I personally maintain it's just as good and worth playing now as it was in 1997, ****** Isle and Interplay's apocalypse RPG is also an object of its time - unforgiving, inscrutable, and sometimes more fuss than fun. Control 2 is now in the "production readiness stage" at Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment, while the Control multiplayer spin-off and Max Payne 1 & 2 remake have entered full production. Remedy revealed the progress in its latest financial earnings report, confirming Control 2 has "passed the proof of concept stage and has progressed to the production readiness stage." No further timeline was shared, but Max Payne 1 & 2 has now entered full production ten months after it reached the same "production readiness stage,". This would indicate Control 2 will enter full production around June 2025. Max Payne 1 & 2 reaching this stage means Remedy is now actively working on it, though no release window was shared. The game will unsurprisingly a bundle featuring remakes of the first two action games from 2001 and 2003 Condor, now the only multiplayer game in development at Remedy after it cancelled another mysterious project codenamed Kestrel in May 2024, has also entered full production. "The development team has worked on multiple maps and different mission types, and we have organized a growing amount of internal and limited external playtesting for feature validation and feedback," Remedy said. These games, having only just entered full production (and Control 2 not even being there yet), are likely still years away. The development timeline may be sped up somewhat by the cancelling of Kestrel, however, as Remedy said at the time it would reallocate developers from this project to its three other games.
