  1. Off The Grid is a new cyberpunk third-person battle royale game where 150 players compete in either PvE or PvP. Co-created by Neill Blomkamp of District 9 and Elysium fame, and boasting a development team whose combined previous experience includes Far Cry, Call of Duty, Uncharted, Crysis, The Last of Us, and Halo, Off The Grid has just launched into early access via the Epic Games Store. While there are NFTs in Off The Grid, the studio behind it, Gunzilla, claims that interaction with and use of these NFTs is entirely optional. Exploring how blockchain elements and cryptocurrency work in Off The Grid, however, there are questions regarding how and to what end the game is designed. Read the rest of the story... Hulkenberg is quite a sturdy tank, and her Knight lineage helps her withstand deadly blows and draw aggro from enemies. View the full article
  4. Those two other Disco Elysium "spiritual successors" were but filthy pretenders, or at best, the thesis and antithesis resulting in this afternoon's triumphant synthesis.* The real Disco Elysium spiritual successor is whatever they're making at Summer Eternal, a just-announced "art collective/RPG studio" founded by a group of, once more with feeling, former Disco Elysium developers. The press release for this particular Disco Elysiulike has the most actual names on it of the three we've learned about this week. It is also, by some distance, the most outwardly socialist of the lot. It accompanies a website featuring some blood-red all-caps political manifestos and a fairly exhaustive breakdown of Summer Eternal's worker cooperative structure. Amongst other things, the studio will let people who buy their games form a non-profit within Summer Eternal that gets a share of the revenue, and has a say on company direction. 6. s the inimitable V.I. Lenin once said, "There are decades where nothing happens, and days when way too many Disco Elysium spiritual successors get announced." Well, we've got one more studio of former Disco devs laying their cards on the table, but Summer Eternal is actually telling us who's involved: Heavy hitters from the development of the original game setting up an ambitious, crowd-funded artist's collective. The members announced so far include:.. Read more.View the full article

  17. As Starfield's new Shattered Space DLC releases to an underwhelming critical reception, a disappointingly low player count could spell trouble for the game's future expansions. Departing from Bethesda's pre-established franchises in Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, Starfield's sci-fi setting and focus on space exploration were intended to set it apart as an open-world RPG. However, a year after its initial release, and with the launch of its first major DLC, the critical reception to Starfield has been mixed at best, with many players expressing disappointment in the game's mechanics, exploration, and story. 21. After a US court ruled earlier this week that Google has to open up its Play Store to provide more download and payment options, Microsoft is moving quickly to slide into this slightly ajar door. Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, posted on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday evening that the ruling "will allow more choice and flexibility." "Our mission is to allow more players to play on more devices so we are thrilled to share that starting in November, players will be able to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android," Bond wrote. Because the court order requires Google to stop forcing apps to use its own billing system and allow for third-party app stores inside Google Play itself, Microsoft now intends to offer Xbox games directly through its app. Most games will likely not run directly on Android, but a revamped Xbox Android app could also directly stream purchased or subscribed games to Android devices. 22. Today’s “Something of concern to a building developer…or software developer” clue in the New York Times Mini Crossword puzzle is yet another clue for a word that has a double meaning for two entirely different scenarios. Terrifier: The ARTcade game goes full old-school with its ***** Genesis-era graphics, six different game modes, and over-the-top *********. The developers describe the actions as such, with you playing as Art, who "disrupts movie sets where films about his own gruesome acts are being shot. Terrifier: The ARTcade Game promises over-the-top finishing moves, boss battles at the end of each stage, powerups and weapons like chainsaws and cleavers, and more.
