  2. Illustration by Cath Virginia / The Verge Unity hasn’t had the easiest go of things as of late, but as part of its efforts to get back in the good graces of game developers, the company has released Unity 6 globally. 3. Blizzard's Diablo 4 is one of the most successful games of the year in the action RPG genre, and its first major expansion, Vessel of Hatred, is set to add even more excitement to the dark and gritty world of Sanctuary. A common question arises to whether you can play the expansion without owning the base game. As expansions often build upon the original game's foundation, it is important to know if Vessel of Hatred is a standalone experience or if it requires Diablo 4. View the full article
  4. Arma Reforger is a great military shooter, and ever since it first graced our PCs developer Bohemia Interactive has always labeled it as a testbed, a bridge, that will eventually take us to Arma 4. Well, in rather bizarre fashion, Bohemia has now revealed when we will reach the promised lands of Arma 4 - sadly, though, you'll be waiting for quite some time. Read the rest of the story... 6. Remedy have released the first proper in-game trailer for Alan Wake 2's second expansion, The Lake House. It's billed as even more of a horror experience than the base game, and takes place in a research facility run by the Lynchian ghostbuster organisation you may have encountered in Remedy's paranormal shooter Control. As such, the expansion forms a direct connection between the games, and may - read: definitely will - harbour a few clues about the story of the forthcoming Control 2. Read more View the full article
  7. There's something so unique about Lovecraft. While classic horror tropes like vampires, werewolves, and psychotic serial killers all feel well within the realms of human understanding, Lovecraft's twisted gods and grotesque monstrosities feel completely alien - comprehensible, yet incomprehensible. It's a universe I love to see reimagined in videogames, and RailGods of Hysterra is doing just that. From the ominous shadowy Cthulhu in the key art's background, to the weird train that sports a glowing orange eye and rows of teeth, I've fallen for the survival game's universe *****, line, and sinker. 8. Qualcomm's Intel takeover bid is on ice, at least for now. According to sources, the mobile chip maker is reportedly holding off on approaching Intel with a purchase offer due to the uncertainty caused by the US presidential election in a few weeks time, seeking "clarity" over who is going to take over in the Oval Office before it makes a bid or not. Intel hasn't had the best year so far. Its current-gen Intel Raptor Lake CPUs have faced voltage instability issues that caused permanent damage, its share price has dropped over 50% since January, and in the battle to make the best gaming CPUs, it continues to lag behind AMD. Qualcomm, meanwhile, has seen its latest Snapdragon X Plus CPUs chip away at Intel and AMD's hold over the market in the latest Windows Copilot+ laptops. Read the rest of the story... 14. On the surface, Cities Skylines 2 is a game of modern problems. Your citizens don't just need houses - they need commerce, mass transit, multi-lane highways, and an effective power grid. These seem like 21st century stresses. But, as it turns out, governing the ancient world is equally complex, and its people just as demanding. A combination of Colossal Order's genre-leading city builder and the historical setting of Civilization 6, Citadelum is a new strategy game where you're in charge of constructing, overseeing, and leading a Roman city during the height of the empire. 'Cities Skylines but you're Julius Caesar' is an extremely strong pitch. This could be the new city builder of our dreams. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

  20. The Planet Coaster 2 system requirements are out, and this highly anticipated theme-park sim is demanding a whopping 16GB VRAM graphics card in its recommended tier. However, there is more to this confusing demand than meets the eye, so don't ***** if your GPU isn't quite hitting the same levels. While developer Frontier Developments doesn't demand the very fastest of the best graphics cards in the Planet Coaster 2 requirements, seeing an Intel Arc A770 16GB graphics card selected is surprising. Granted, VRAM isn't everything, and the other options include an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, showing that the selection of the A770 could be down to the fact that the game is better optimized for Nvidia hardware.
