  3. Ack-ack-ack! Sorry, something in my throat. What I meant to say is, Mars Attracts is a newly-announced theme park sim set in the universe of Mars Attacks. The Martians have been capturing humans to take up to their dusty world to plonk onto a custom-built amusement park, where people are themselves the amusements - for good and ill. Think Planet Coaster, Rollercoaster Tycoon, or Jurassic Park Evolution, but in space, with lashings of human-centric cruelty. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

  6. World of Warcraft is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and Blizzard Entertainment is doing an Overwatch 2 crossover to mark the occasion. The first character to receive a new, MMORPG-inspired look will be Overwatch‘s Widowmaker, who will get a WoW’s Sylvanas Windrunner skin, Blizzard announced on X on Aug. 20. The skin looks almost identical to one of the Windrunner sisters in WoW. It’s purple, like in the fantasy universe (and conveniently the ****** of Widowmaker’s default skin), and she holds a bow. The only change is a ******* rifle, Widowmaker’s main tool, which Blizzard has remade in the WoW aesthetic. Although if you see it as an ambitious transmog for the Night Elf, it’s more than believable she could be using a ****. 7. I'm glad to know that Borderlands 4 is on its way. Sure, the Borderlands sense of humor has worn a bit thin for me over the years, and sure, I think Claptrap is among the greatest torments ever inflicted on an undeserving humanity. When it comes down to it, though, I'm as much of a ******* for a bajillion procedurally generated guns as the next guy. Another Borderlands sequel is one I'll welcome... 8. With Gamescom underway and PAX West coming at the end of the month, 2024's summer gaming event season is finally coming to a close. However, no one could have guessed that the season would begin and end with a game such as Post Trauma, the upcoming survival horror game from Raw Fury and developers Red Soul Games. At the Guerrilla Collective back in early June, a Fall release window was announced for the game, and with today's Future Games Show, that window has now been narrowed down to a definitive release date, as Post Trauma is now scheduled for a release date that's just a couple of days away from Halloween, appropriately enough. 11. Enlarge / So I'm not stuck on Xbox, eh? (credit: Bethesda) [/url] Bethesda's Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is the latest game from a Microsoft subsidiary that will make its way to the PlayStation 5. The game will hit Sony's console in the spring of 2025, Microsoft announced yesterday, months after a planned December launch on Xbox Series S/X and Windows. In an interview with YouTube channel Xbox On, Microsoft's Phil Spencer expanded on that decision, implying that multiplatform releases for Microsoft gaming properties were important to the Xbox division's bottom line. "We run a business," he said, "It's definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery that we have to give back to the company, because we get a level of support from the company that's just amazing in what we're able to go do." [Hidden Content] Phil Spencer's comments come about three minutes into this interview. Amid massive layoffs that have hit Xbox and other gaming companies in recent months, Spencer noted that there's "a lot of pressure on the [game] industry" these days. "[The industry] has been growing for a long, long time and now people are looking for ways to grow," he said. "And I think that us, as fans, as players of games, we just have to anticipate there's going to be more change in how some of the traditional ways that games were built and distributed [ars] going to change... for all of us." 16. Take note, other developers: this is how you do it. Capcom has removed gender-restricted armor sets from Monster Hunter in the upcoming PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC title, Monster Hunter Wilds. As show in the developer diary streams that were broadcast live from Gamescom 2024 today (and confirmed in a hands-on demo by yours truly), Capcom has decided to bin off the binary armor choices for female and male hunters. Now, no matter what character you decide to make when you create your avatar for the game, you will be able to equip all variations of armor without any restriction. Typically, Monster Hunter games have locked you into one of two variants depending on the make-up of your custom character, but in the upcoming title, every single player will be able to equip an A or B variant of each gear set. I even experimented with mixing and matching; it was possible to use the ‘male’ version of a Chatucabra head and the ‘female’ version of the Chatucabra body in the same loadout. Ergo; you can mix and match. Read more View the full article

  24. A recent update to Half-Life 2 in the form of a new "test" branch for the game has raised some eyebrows among the Valve community, with some speculating that it could be a sign of an incoming content update to release in time for the game's 20th anniversary later this year. While little is yet known about the internal update, many Half-Life 2 fans were quick to draw comparisons to a seemingly insignificant branch update to the original Half-Life late last year, which turned out to be the game's massive 25th anniversary update which absolutely no one was expecting.
