  5. When is the Borderlands 4 release date? The Borderlands series dates back to 2009, when the first game was released to PC and consoles. Over the last 15 years, the series has become so popular that it was turned into a blockbuster movie in 2024 and, while that might have been met with a rather underwhelming reception, the franchise is set to continue with another videogame entry. Confirmed during Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2024, Borderlands 4 is still relatively mysterious, as a one-minute cinematic reveal trailer for the action-adventure game is all we've got to go on so far. However, we can start to look forward to when the Borderlands 4 release date might be, and what it could entail. Read the rest of the story... 6. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is now confirmed to be arriving on PS5 in spring 2025, not long after it initially releases later this year as a timed exclusive. That was set in stone - following plenty of reports and rumours - during yesterday's Gamescom Opening Night Live, and now Xbox boss Phil Spencer's said some thing about what went into the decision to bring the game to Sony's consoles. Obviously, this is all a part of Xbox's ongoing plans to do more multiplatform things, as outlined in that podcast earlier this year, with Grounded, Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment, having all been brought to fresh platforms so far. During one of Microsoft's Gamescom 2024 livestreams, Spencer was asked about the whole Jones on PS5 thing. Acknowledging that those four games outlined above made the jump as part of Xbox doing some "learning", the exec said he's seen Xbox's "franchises are getting stronger" and "Xbox console player [numbers] are as high this year as they’ve ever been.” Read more View the full article

However, those who’ve purchased the game at its original Sony and Epic Games stores might wonder if it will have crossplay. Here’s all you need to know. Does The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria have crossplay? Return to Moria is a true survival crafting experience. Image via North Beach Games At the moment, no, but it will become a crossplay title once it launches on Steam and the Xbox Series X and S. This was confirmed by the developers in an Aug. 7 blog post, where they said the game’s port to Valve and Mircosoft’s storefronts will be followed by The Golden Update that aims to enable “crossplay between all platforms.” The update won’t solely focus on that and will introduce a “Sandbox Mode,” alongside a “treasure trove of other content, updates, and improvements that have been implemented since the game’s release.” View the full article
  9. Xbox has unveiled several new types of accessibility hardware at Gamescom, headlined by the new Xbox Adaptive Joystick. Microsoft has long pushed accessibility in gaming, first launching the Adaptive Controller six years ago, but that comes with a hefty price tag. The Adaptive Joystick, on the other hand, lands at a much more affordable price. In a post on the Xbox Wire following the Aug. 21 announcement, a $29.99 price tag was announced for the Adaptive Joystick, which releases in 2025. While it can be used alongside the Adaptive Controller, it is not a necessity and can be used individually. View the full article

Yet make no mistakes – Revenge of the Savage Planet isn’t just a careless moniker, it’s a statement of intent. Sitting in a downtown Montreal boardroom, the team proudly shows me a hands-off demo of their shiny new sequel. 14. This past year, the handegg team I follow – the Seattle Seahawks – missed the playoffs. They weren’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, there were some genuinely fun moments peppered throughout their stumble to a 9-8 record. Here’s to you, Jake Bobo, and to you, Geno Smith, for being a nice guy to Drew Lock. They weren’t that good either though, hence the whole ‘******* a head coach that defined an entire era for the franchise’ thing. They were right in the NFL’s mushy middle, with enough ups and downs to have you pulling your hair out just as often as you were cheering. Madden NFL 25’s - no, not that one - is a bit like that too. As ever, there’s a whole lot in the game that you’ll recognise instantly if you’ve played a Madden within about the past five years. It’s down to the nuances to make this year’s entry stand out from what came before, and to be fair, in a year that’s seen a fair amount of its attention and marketing push go towards comeback **** EA Sports College Football 25, there are a fair few changes for the better. 17. Geforce Now is great. It's a game streaming service that actually works. Amazing. Game Pass is great. It's a game subscription service that offers an awful lot of choice, including many day one-release games, and a lot of those games are playable on Nvidia's streaming platform. What could make this union better, you ask? It's all about how you log in. While the two services combine brilliantly to let you play Game Pass games almost anywhere you have a good internet connection, there has been a problem: you have to log into your Microsoft account to play the games. "Big deal," I am sure many of you are huffing to yourselves. "This guy doesn't even know he's born," etc. Well, I do (sadly it was over 40 years ago now), and also, playing Game Pass games on a device that doesn't have a keyboard attached is annoying. Ask anyone who tries to enter an email address and password using their TV's remote control. Geforce Now users who mainly used the games in their Steam libraries didn't have this issue as the service lets you automatically sign in. Set it up once in the Geforce Now settings and you have a pretty seamless experience, even on a TV. Now this functionality is coming to Xbox accounts. Then, there were the games that got announced at the show which you'll be able to play on Game Pass day one. ******* Elite: Resistance was revealed during the pre-show, and will "[turn] the attention of the award-winning series towards a hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of occupied France" when it arrives in 2025. 22. ***** Rising fans rejoiced a few months back when Capcom announced that it was remastering the first game in the series. But many were surprised that Capcom had recast the voice of beloved protagonist Frank West. After weeks of speculation, Capcom has finally announced the new West: Jas Patrick. Speaking to IGN in a recent interview, the development team behind ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster confirmed that Patrick would voice Frank West. Patrick is best known for his work on Octopath Traveler 2, where he voiced Partitio. Additionally, Patrick has lent his voice to other projects, such as Genshin Impact, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and the 2023 version of the Rurouni Kenshin anime, to name a few, as shown on his YouTube account and listed on his IMDb page. "Jas Patrick is the new voice of Frank West for ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster. We're very pleased with the work he's done for this project," the ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster Development Team confirmed to IGN in the interview. ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster was announced in late June. The first teaser trailer revealed that T.J. Rotolo, the original voice actor for Frank West, was not voicing the character. Following the trailer's release, Rotolo revealed to a fan on Instagram that he was not reprising his role in Deluxe Remaster because Capcom did not contact him, and "the reasons are the producers' own." When we asked them about this, the development team said they regret that "[they] were unable to have TJ Rotolo reprise his role in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster." However, Capcom added that the studio "sincerely" appreciates all of the work Rotolo did for the ***** Rising series. Frank West is just one of many characters who received a new voice actor in Deluxe Remaster. Nevertheless, as I mentioned briefly in an episode of Unlocked, Frank West's new voice grew on me. ***** Rising Dexlue Remaster is the second remastering of the 2006 original. Powered by the RE Engine, Deluxe Remaster improves the lighting, in-game backgrounds, and environments. More importantly, a ton of quality-of-life changes have been introduced, such as the ability to move while aiming and improved survivor AI. Some things have also been removed, such as the "Erotica' genre in the photography mini-game. ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19 for digital storefronts, while the physical version will be released on November 8. For more, check out our hands-on preview and a video comparing ***** Rising (2006) to Deluxe Remaster. Taylor is a Reporter at IGN. You can follow her on Twitter @TayNixster. 23. Less than a month from now, ***** Rising returns. ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster provides a quality-of-life update to a beloved zombie game that seeks to revive this dormant series and appeal to a wider audience. I was fortunate enough to ask the development team behind the remaster a few questions I was curious about following my hands-on preview. In the interview, we discussed an array of changes in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster. This includes what other changes fans can expect in the full release, what changes were made to Infinity Mode, what the future holds for the series, and who exactly is voicing Frank West. Check out the full interview below, and if you want to know my impressions from an early build, check out my hands-on preview. IGN: What inspirations did ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster carry over most from the previous ***** Rising games, like ***** Rising 2, and what might be the most surprising changes to veterans of the series beyond what was already previously announced? ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster Development Team: Playing through ***** Rising 2, 3, and 4 and listening to fans’ feedback helped us reaffirm what elements needed to be included in ***** Rising 1. In particular, we’ve put a lot of thought and care into Frank’s characterization. One major change from the original game is the addition of several new skill books, which players can pair with in-game items for a new gameplay experience. We’ve also made adjustments so that all items players encounter have their own special uses. We encourage you to try things out for yourself without getting too hung up on your impressions from the original game. Speaking of changes, I noticed several, if not all, of the previously voiced characters, like Brad and Jessie, received new voice actors, most notably Frank West. Was there any specific reason for some characters not having their original voice actors reprise their roles? DRDR Dev Team: Based on fans’ wishes and our own developmental wishes, we wanted to use the English voiceover from the original game without making any changes. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to move forward with this plan because the contract for the 18-year-old game was outdated. Another one of our goals for ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster was to make the game fully voiced, so we made some changes to the cast of voice actors. We’ve all been very pleased with the new actors’ performances. Based on fans’ wishes and our own developmental wishes, we wanted to use the English voiceover from the original game without making any changes Speaking of Frank West, many in the ***** Rising community, including myself, have been trying to figure out who is voicing Frank West. Who is the talent voicing Frank West in Deluxe Remaster? DRDR Dev Team: Jas Patrick is the new voice of Frank West for ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster. We’re very pleased with the work he’s done for this project. I know Frank West’s original voice actor, TJ Rotolo, revealed he was not contacted by Capcom about reprising his role. Is there any reason why you decided not to contact Rotolo to return and voice Frank West? DRDR Dev Team: We regret that we were unable to have TJ Rotolo reprise his role in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster and accommodate the requests of our dedicated fans. We have selected a new voice actor for Frank West, but we sincerely appreciate all that TJ Rotolo has done for the ***** Rising series and wish him the best in his future endeavors. We received a ton of information on 72-Hour Mode but little to nothing on the other modes. Regarding Infinity Mode specifically, can you describe some of the biggest changes introduced that make it a little less challenging to play while still maintaining the challenge of obtaining achievements like 5- or 7-day survivor? DRDR Dev Team: Regarding Infinity Mode, players are now able to save mid-game and exit without losing their progress. Along with the ability to fast forward time, we made some adjustments that we think will allow players to enjoy the mode more casually than in the original game. Since zombies now drop items at a low rate, a more aggressive playstyle has become a viable option for this mode as well. Before Deluxe Remaster, the series remained dormant since ***** Rising 4’s release in 2016. Should fans take Deluxe Remaster as a sign of things to come? Is there a chance Capcom will go back and remaster other ***** Rising games or perhaps consider developing a new entry altogether? DRDR Dev Team: Capcom would like to continue to bring back many of its IPs. In hopes of expanding upon the ***** Rising series in the future, we’d first like to put effort into promoting ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster and share its appeal with fans around the world. 24. ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster is finally released, and alongside the previously-announced quality-of-life changes to the core gameplay loops, veterans of the series will be happy to know that even Infinity Mode has received a tweak that makes playing the mode a lot less of a headache to endure. In an interview with IGN, Capcom confirmed that Infinity Mode also received some quality-of-life changes that make the experience much more enjoyable for a wider variety of players. Specifically, Capcom confirmed to IGN that Infinity Mode in Deluxe Remaster includes an option to "save" your progress, allowing you to hop in and out at your leisure. Infinity Mode also includes some "adjustments," including the ability to fast-forward time and confirmation that zombies will now drop items, albeit at a low rate. "Regarding Infinity Mode, players are now able to save mid-game and exit without losing their progress," the developer confirmed to IGN during the interview. "Along with the ability to fast-forward time, we made some adjustments that we think will allow players to enjoy the mode more casually than in the original game. Since zombies now drop items at a low rate, a more aggressive playstyle has become a viable option for this mode as well." For those unfamiliar with ***** Rising, Infinity Mode is an unlockable survival mode where players try to keep Frank alive in the mall for as long as possible. It is unlocked after the players beat both 72-hour and Overtime modes. Unlike the other two game modes, Frank's health will slowly deplete (even if he is not attacked), which makes forging for healing items and trying to avoid taking damage from enemies an additional challenge. The game mode that ***** Rising fans loathed In the original ***** Rising, Overtime Mode was loathed by those who dared to play it, as in both the 2006 original and its 2016 HD re-release it did not provide players with the ability to save. Additionally, food items did not respawn in the mall and the supermarket was locked out, so that people could not simply camp inside the store. Additional weapons and health pickups were obtained by defeating humans, as both psychopaths and survivors were hostile toward Frank. Defeating those enemies would provide a box of randomized items, which could include healing items. While this mode is not required to obtain ***** Rising's true ending, players would often endure the brutal gauntlet of Infinity Mode to obtain achievements and trophies. Additionally, staying alive for five days would unlock the real Laser Sword, one of the most powerful melee weapons available in the game. Of course, due to the fact you previously could not save, players had to play ***** Rising nonstop to get one or both of those achievements, with the achievement for surviving five days taking upwards of 12 hours to achieve, while surviving seven takes 14 hours to achieve. With the changes made to Infinity Mode, including the option to "save" the game and zombies having a (low rate) of dropping items, it appears Capcom was fully serious about remasting ***** Rising to make it not only more enjoyable for veterans but also more appealing to a wider audience. View the full article
