  1. Only a week after the last patch, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II is getting an emergency fix that rolls back the difficulty level of Operations to what they were before Patch 4.0. In a community post from Focus Entertainment, Game Director Dmitriy Grigorenko explains that Patch 3.0 had, according to their internal win rate numbers, made the game too easy, a sentiment echoed by the player base, so they set out to make it difficult again. The solution was to increase ****** spawn rates, but it had a cascading effect, not only impacting the brand-new Lethal difficulty, but all the way down to the lowest level, Operations were seeing significantly-increased spawn rates that caused the difficulty to ramp up. As of Patch 4.1, those values were all dropped to pre-Patch 4.0 levels. View the full article

  4. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 is following a recent trend by adding an arachophobia setting to Zombies, but its solution somehow seems even worse. As part of its blog detailing ****** Ops 6's various acccessibility features, Activision showed off its new arachnophobia mode, explaining, "For the first time in ****** Ops 6 Zombies, a new arachnophobia toggle feature will be available. This setting will allow players to change the appearance of spider-like enemies in Zombies without affecting their game play." The description is accompanied by a screenshot that shows a spider ****** crawling toward the player on one side, and what it looks like when the arachnophobia mode is turned on. It seems the toggle simply removes the spider creatures legs, turning it into a floating torso that resembles a flying leech with huge, spiky teeth. In a word, eww. But hey, at least it's not a spider, right? The new feature is part of ****** Ops 6's version of Zombies, the latest in a long line of games dating back to Call of Duty: World at War. You can check out our full Zombies preview right here. ****** Ops 6, meanwhile, releases October 25, but fans who use the New Zealand trick can gain access right now much earlier. Make sure to stay tuned for our full review. Kat Bailey is IGN's News Director as well as co-host of Nintendo Voice Chat. Have a tip? Send her a DM at @the_katbot. View the full article
  5. Thank your own personal deity—possibly ****** *****—it's Friday! Let's round out your week with two free games worth adding to your pile of shame (NiGHTS and Moving Out). Also, I have the best prices for the behemoth in the room, Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 and an absolute ton of Yakuza titles. Whatever you choose, have a great weekend! In retro news, I'm baking a citrus-based cake for The Orange Box, one of the most value-filled compilations ever devised. We met when I was just a junior freelancer who'd drawn the short straw (because that particular magazine's stable of veteran reviewers looked at the slim deadline, then the five game to-do list, and went, "Nope"). Four sleepless nights later, I recall deliriously trying to tell anybody who'd listen that somehow an unassuming title named Portal was the best thing in this box of venerable Valve baddies. They thought me ****, right up until GLaDOS (and ***** about cake) took over the world. This Day in Gaming Aussie birthdays for notable games and hardware - ***** Rally (ARC) 1994. 7. It's been a bit of a tin foil hat week in the Destiny 2 community as theories and fan-compiled data have suggested that Bungie is intentionally making some ******* perk rolls rarer than they should be. With evidence piling extremely high, Bungie has now addressed the perk-weighting accusations, saying that while it is not purposefully altering any perk drop rates, it is now "investigating a potential issue" that may be causing the discrepancies. 12. Hunt Showdown has been on something of a wild ride this year. The launch of its enormous 1896 update, which added a new map and was essentially a soft reboot for the extraction FPS, saw it reach new heights when it comes to its Steam player count. 15. One of my favorite things about Bethesda RPGs like Oblivion and Skyrim is that NPCs have lives of their own. Yes, technically, merchants have been brought into existence specifically to stand behind store counters and buy whatever garbage you've collected on your last quest, but these shopkeepers also close their stores at a certain time each night, go to the tavern, eat meals, talk with other characters, and sleep in their beds at night... However, some fishing rods aren’t available to purchase with the Merchant Brothers, and one of them is the Nocturnal Rod, which is a great addition to your rod collection and helps you catch better fish. 21. Shotguns in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 gives a really unique playstyle for players. Using a shotgun feels a lot more powerful than using an SMG or ******** rifle. They're one of the most underrated weapons because they lack range and ***** rate. However, those who prefer close-quarters combat and aggressive engagements usually excel using shotguns. While their range is limited, they excel at delivering devastating, often one-shot ****** in close range. The high damage output makes them ideal for close-range skirmishes, especially in tight corridors, flanking maneuvers, or surprise encounters.
