Witchbook has been a highly anticipated video game in the cozy gaming community ever since its initial announcement back in 2018. Taking on a classically cheerful, pixel-art style similar to Stardew Valley, Witchbrook already looks like a cozy game that will have a bit of a familiar feel for Stardew Valley fans. However, Witchbrook's unique blend of life simulation with a narrative revolving around magic, primarily due to the game's focus on a magical academy, is what has stirred anticipation in the gaming community. Developed by Chucklefish, the game has been in development for seven years, leaving it easy to wonder if Witchbrook will finally be released in 2025. View the full article

BioWare says that it’s “turning towards the future and preparing for the next chapter” in its studio after reassigning some developers to other teams within EA. In a new blog post, BioWare general manager Gary McKay said that the studio is “changing how we build games to meet the needs of our upcoming projects and hold ourselves to the highest quality standards.” Money-making standards were not met by Dragon Age: The Veilguard, though, and EA has said as much. With the enjoyable but ultimately underperforming Dragon Age The Veilguard now behind it, BioWare's next mission is to create a stellar new entry in its beloved Mass Effect series. While League of Legends’ balancing team is always on the hunt to nerf and buff champions to keep them healthy, certain champions like K’Sante often slip under the radar and become a problem in everyone’s matches. In a Reddit discussion, players are asking Riot Games why K’Sante’s growing popularity in League matches isn’t leading to a nerf, making him more vulnerable to his counters and adding more diversity in the top lane. “Riot not touching K’Sante next patch is absurd,” a player said, talking about how the champion has always been potent since his release. There aren't enough stylish action games like Ninja Gaiden in the world. Nothing draws me in as instantly as a great one: I relish struggling through punishing combat in games that give me the tools to move and battle in a way that’s typically reserved for flashy cutscenes, and demand I use them or die. Intense enemy encounters and rhythmic timing mixed with Tony Hawk-style experimentation just hits that sweet spot—and I don’t think any game mixes both of these in their most extreme forms more than Ninja Gaiden 2... Sony's game publishing arm has done a 180-degree turn on a controversial policy of requiring PC players to sign in with PlayStation accounts for some games, according to a blog post by the company. A PlayStation account will "become optional" for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Sony hasn't lost hope that players will still go ahead and use a PlayStation account, though, as it's tying several benefits to signing in. Logging in with PlayStation will be required to access trophies, the PlayStation equivalent of achievements. (Steam achievements appear to be supported regardless.) It will also allow friend management, provided you have social contacts on the PlayStation Network. Read full article Comments View the full article
PlayStation is adding new in-game perks to PC titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for players with a PlayStation Network account. Over the past few years, Sony has been making an increased effort to bring some of its biggest PlayStation exclusives to the wider PC market, and this picked up considerable steam in 2024. While the original version of Horizon Zero Dawn was already ported to Windows in 2020, the updated Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was released on both PS5 and PC back in October. Meanwhile, the 2022 hit God of War Ragnarok was brought to PC in September. View the full article
Two very different Ninja Gaiden titles are in development. Despite this duality, they celebrate important eras in the franchise’s history. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a side-scrolling platformer that captures the action of a '90s Nintendo Entertainment System craze. Ninja Gaiden 4, on the other hand, is the next chapter in an ultra violent action game that helped establish Microsoft’s Xbox consoles as a serious contender. It is a smart move of Koei Tecmo to cater to both sets of fans that are after conflicting styles. View the full article
Electronic Arts is downsizing BioWare as the studio switches its full attention to Mass Effect 5. In a blog post, BioWare general manager Gary McKay confirmed the studio is restructuring following Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s release in late 2024. PlayStation and Quantic Dream’s story-driven adventure game Beyond: Two Souls is getting a TV series reimagining from original star Elliot Page. Deadline reports that Page’s Pageboy Productions has acquired the rights from Quantic Dream in the hopes of adapting it into a television show. The project is said to be in early development and is expected to keep the video game experience’s non-linear narrative in mind as work progresses. Additional details, including casting information and release plans, have yet to be revealed. Page told Deadline that filming Beyond: Two Souls was “one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences” of his career. He continued: “The story’s rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers.” Pageboy head of development and production Matt Jordan Smitt elaborated on how he, Page, and the rest of the team plan to “honor the game’s legacy while inviting fresh perspectives.” He added: “Delving into questions of survival and how split-second decisions can alter not just our lives, but the lives of others, are key to telling the story.” The original Beyond: Two Souls launched for the PlayStation 3 in 2013 before eventually making its way to PlayStation 4 and PC in 2015 and 2019, respectively. Directed and written by Quantic Dream’s David Cage, it follows the story of Jodie Holmes, a girl with psychic powers that allow her to communicate with a spirit she calls Aiden. Aside from the non-linear narrative that explores different sections of her life, the game was known for its inclusion of big-name actors like Page and Willem Dafoe. Cage said he is collaborating with Page on the Beyond: Two Souls TV show, though the extent of his involvement is unclear. “We are absolutely thrilled to collaborate again with Elliot Page on this project,” Cage said. “I was blown away by his acting performance in the game, and I couldn’t think of anyone else to tell this story with the same passion on another medium. Beyond: Two Souls is a very special game for millions of players around the world who were moved by the story of Jodie and Aiden, and their journey in life and beyond. I know that Elliot has all the talent and instinct to make it something really unique on TV.” It will be some time before the Beyond: Two Souls TV series makes its debut. PC game storefront GOG, which has recently pledged to focus on restoring and preserving Good Gold Games, has now revamped its community wishlist for games to bring to its storefront. The GOG Dreamlist serves not only as a way to get notified when a game you loved is newly available for DRM-free purchase, but for GOG to use as market pressure in its negotiations with rights-holders. The games GOG members picked out on what used to be called the Community Wishlist still have their votes, and they have been useful. It was often "the fuel for our actions," Karol Ascot Obrzut writes on GOG's blog. "When talks with IP owners hit a wall, the Wishlist kept the conversation going." GOG attributes the newly available Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 (and the bundle) in part to wishlist leverage. Those games had about 5,000 and 3,500 votes, respectively, which helped when, as GOG puts it, "two polish dudes" approached Capcom to ask about making the games Windows 10/11 compatible and upscaling it. [Hidden Content] GOG's Dreamlist announcement video. The Dreamlist has received a complete design and interface overhaul, and it makes it easier to see what other people are demanding. At the top, with more than 57,000 votes at time of publishing, is ****** & White, the 2001 game from Peter Molyneaux's Lionhead Studios that was a true "god game," giving you an avatar creature that learned from your actions and treatment. ****** & White 2 commands the third-place slot at the moment.
