  3. I recently played through the opening hours of Monster Hunter Wilds and came away reassured. I was reserved about the upcoming RPG after a wobbly beta test with weapons that at times felt a little anemic, even though I had come to enjoy tackling the fight against Rey Dau. While my performance concerns aren't fully allayed, the preview build I saw left me desperate to keep playing. Even more pleasingly, it showed that Capcom has answers to some of the community's biggest frustrations coming off its breakout success with Monster Hunter World, from overwhelming tutorials to monster diversity. 4. I have been excited for The Elder Scrolls 6long before Bethesda foolishly decided to announce it all the way back in 2018. Prior to falling head over heels in love with Skyrim in 2014, I had amassed a huge amount of admiration for Oblivion and Morrowind before that. While I'm not the biggest Elder Scrolls fan in the world - I haven't played Daggerfall, after all - I am prone to endlessly searching for Scrolls-likes at 3 am in the hopes of recapturing the magic that seemingly only these games inexplicably hold. 5. Monster Hunter contains multitudes. Not just multitudes of monsters, but multitudes of moods. What other game series would open with a child's village being destroyed by a raging mythological beast, then an hour later devote five minutes to a cutscene of a roided-out chicken chasing a bunch of cats carrying a giant steak over their heads?.. 6. Monster Hunter is a series about big stuff. Big monsters, big swords, big guns, big mountains, trees, volcanoes, you name it. Monster Hunter Wilds stays true to that basic DNA, but its attention to detail and the little people you play as is what makes it feel fundamentally different. This is not any old Monster Hunter game, based on my time spent playing it at a media preview event in Los Angeles. The game I played has the potential to be the franchise’s Skyrim moment—a beloved series nails down the technology and formula to please longtime fans while bringing in scores of new players through its immersive world-building and exploration, its engaging and mysterious story, and its suddenly streamlined gameplay systems. I entered the preview as a person who had tried playing multiple Monster Hunter games but never enjoyed them all that much. I left as a person that suddenly got it. I left as a Monster Hunter fan. 7. While playing Monster Hunter Wilds at a media preview event in Los Angeles, I noticed the person next to me trying to fish. After a few unsuccessful minutes, a hand appeared over his shoulder and started wiggling the camera around, offering up some fishing pointers. Looking back, I realized this hand belonged to Monster Hunter Wilds director Yuya Tokuda, who had popped into the gaming room between interviews and seemed to have a perpetual grin on his face as he watched people play and explore Capcom’s new world. We tried out systems and battled alpha monsters under his and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto’s watchful eyes for several minutes, the pair clearly eager to see what we could uncover during our playthrough. And there was so much to uncover, from trying out multiple weapon loadouts to exploring the massive zones included in the preview section of the event. View the full article
  8. Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has posted a record breaking year financially as Stellar Blade brought in $43 million in royalties, and the PC version is expected to outsell the original PlayStation 5 game. As reported by Game World Observer, Shift Up released its 2024 financial report which revealed it recorded $151.4 million in revenue, an increase of 30.4% year over year. This includes $43.2 million from Stellar Blade royalties alone. There are seemingly no signs of it slowing down either, as Shift Up reiterated that it expects PC sales to be "better than that of the console version, especially in the Asian game market." It also plans to reveal its new game, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025, though this doesn't appear to be the highly requested Stellar Blade sequel. Project Witches was revealed in 2024, not long after Stellar Blade was released on PS5, and therefore before momentum for a sequel was built. Shift Up has said it's considering making another game in the franchise though. Stellar Blade sees players take on the role of Eve as she battles against unknown invaders to reclaim Earth in fast paced action role-playing game combat. It earned a 7/10 in IGN's review and proved popular otherwise, quickly selling a million copies. "Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre," we said. 9. The countdown to Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 is here, with Epic Games teasing players with a new post that can only be described as "perplexing." Ahead of Fortnite's highly anticipated new update, Epic Games Vice President and Co-Founder Mark Rein shared one word to describe the next season: "pickled." Players are hard at work on deciphering what this may mean for the game, though pickles certainly don't seem to fit in with previous rumors claiming Fortnite's next update will be heist-themed. 12. Assassin's Creed Shadows will allow players to switch between two characters throughout the game, but its creative director says "quite a bit of [Shadows]" can be played with just one character. While Assassin's Creed Shadowswill see the franchise step foot into feudal Japan for the very first time, it isn't the first entry to feature dual protagonists, as Assassin's Creed Syndicate previously allowed fans to switch between the Frye twins, Evie and Jacob, throughout the game. 13. Veteran League of Legends player Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau shared his thoughts on Garen and how the recent runes changes make the champion’s ultimate a game-changer. “I just think Garen is overpowered right now. He gets like Last Stand (which) works on his ultimate. Axiom Arcanist works on his ultimate. Like this ***** does like half your health,” Bwipo said in an interview with Jatt, adding “unironically” if the enemy champion is under 45 percent health, then they’re just dead. Bwipo also mentioned that Garen does well in this lane swap meta—you gain the same amount of resistance stats as a K’Sante by just pressing your W. View the full article
  14. A new leak about Hysilens in Honkai: Star Rail shows that she will represent the end of a few older characters from the turn-based RPG. Currently, HoYoverse’s game is in the midst of Version 3.0, the first patch for this year of content and the update that introduced Amphoreus as a destination where the Astral Express’ main story missions will progress through, as well as Remembrance as a playable Path. The game will explore Amphoreus throughout the entire year, and Version 3.0 is only the beginning; there are many more Amphoreus characters in Honkai: Star Rail yet to be released. 15. If you've just started out your Dragon Ball Online Generations (DBOG) journey, you may become overwhelmed knowing that you'll need to level up all the way to level 700. As you can imagine, this is no walk in the park, and just like Goku, you're going to have to train really hard to achieve such a high (power) level. Thankfully, there are ways you can speed up this process, and we're going to tell you how. Leveling up fast in DBOG There are actually quite a few methods for leveling up fast in DBOG, and we're going to list our favorites from least effective to most effective. However, we recommend you try all of them and see which one works best for you. Some methods are grindy, some are slower but more fun, some require you to spend some Robux, and some of them require the help of friends and strangers. Finishing all the Story Quests Screenshot by Destructoid This is probably the least effective way, but it's also in your best interests to do all the Story Quests. If you only focus on the Story Quests (and nothing else), you should be around level 80-90 by the time you finish the last one. While that doesn't sound effective, it's still a good idea to do the whole thing because you'll unlock everything else the game has to offer (including other training methods). So, even if it's annoying, just tough it out and finish the Story Quest so you can move on to more effective leveling methods. Gravity Room & 2x XP combo If you have Robux to burn and you really want to level up fast, this is the way. First, you visit the Capsule Corp backyard and look for the Gravity Room. Buy the Gamepass to access it. While this is already great for fast leveling if you want to really boost that leveling, use an XP code or buy an XP boost. Afterward, simply use the Gravity Room and watch those levels go up. It's almost like cheating but, the game offers this, so it's not against the rules. One thing we don't like about this method is that players who use it, tend not to learn how to properly play the game because they don't get enough practice with it. Doing Dailies Once you complete the Story Quest, you should start doing Dailies. Now, we're not going to lie, Daily Quests can get boring after a while, but they are nonetheless great sources of XP. At the same time, doing Dailies every day is great if you combine it with the next method. Collecting all Dragon ****** If you collect all Dragon ******, you can wish to become stronger, which will give you a bunch of levels just like that. While it would be nice for Shenron to simply boost you to max level, remember that even eternal dragons have their limits. Just like in the early Dragon Ball episodes, collecting Dragon ****** can be quite difficult, and you will have competition. Our advice is to not stress about it and just use your Dragon Radar and collect one Dragon Ball each week. Seriously, don't make this a priority because it's just not worth it. Asking for help from a Friend / Stranger Dragon Ball Online Generations has been active since 2019, meaning there are a lot of veteran players who are just chilling at their max level and doing their own thing. Unfortunately, while the game is active, it isn't as popular as some of the other Roblox titles. Because of this, the community is really friendly and welcoming to new players. If you have a friend who has a max-level character, ask them for a boost. If you don't have friends who play DBOG, that's not a problem either. Simply visit the official DBOG Discord server, say you are new, and ask if anyone is willing to help you level. Most of the time, you'll get a response right away. It's actually quite amazing how friendly the community is. One of the best ways you can level is by starting a hard Quest (like the Cooler fight) and having the high-level friend beat him for you. You can also get someone to boost you through a raid. Either way, this is, BY FAR, the best way to level up fast in DBOG. There you have it. While it may be against the spirit of Dragon Ball, you can use some of these shortcuts to level up fast and become more powerful. If you need a boost, check out our Dragon Ball Online Generations codes. The post How to level up super fast in Dragon Ball Online Generation appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
