A recent Genshin Impact leak has revealed the Ascension Materials for Varesa and Iansan, the two characters set to make a playable debut in Version 5.5. While Genshin Impact players are fond of gathering Ascension Materials ahead of a character's release, this isn't always manageable. A new map expansion comes with a new World Boss, new Ascension Materials, and even a new Trounce Domain in some cases. Version 5.5 won't be any different in this regard, but that doesn't mean that Genshin Impact players won't be able to pre-farm for Varesa and Iansan to a certain degree. View the full article

When I wrote a preview of South of Midnight late last year, I concluded by saying that even though the game looked fantastic, the proof would always be in the playing. Civilization 7introduced a new style of choosing leaders and civilizations that leans even further away from history than the previous entries in the franchise. While the Civilization franchise has always been pretty far off base when it comes to history, its use of real civilizations, wonders, and historical figures gave the impression that the game was at least trying to have some grounding in reality. However, as Civ 7 steps closer to allowing for more customization among civilizations, it has also taken a big step away from any sort of realism that the franchise may have been clinging to. Along with being one of the most anticipated RPGs of 2025, the title shares the same fantasy setting as the Pillars of Eternity series. I’ve been excited about South of Midnight since I saw its reveal trailer in 2023. The art direction, music, and deeply Southern setting felt ripe for an epic story. Still, coming into my preview, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. After playing my hour-and-a-half preview of the title, I was even more surprised. The common formula to maximize player count isn’t here at all: There’s no open world or even an attempt to lure people in with an “open zone.” I didn’t see any RPG mechanics or dialogue trees to be found. Eve Online developer CCP Games has announced a ten-day trial for Eve Frontier, the survival spinoff of the 20-year-old space MMO. Players interested in Frontier can register for access to the game's closed alpha, as CCP Games keeps working toward a full launch. When Eve Frontier launches it'll be free-to-play, with an optional subscription. Until now, however, you've only been able to sample it outside of a trial if you purchase a Founder's Pack. Partly, that's why this new free trial is distinctive.
